Did anyone catch this in the Test Update notes for #16a?

*** Spells and Combat Arts ***

- It is now harder to riposte when the attacker is landing many attacks quickly and easier to riposte when the attacker is swinging less frequently
- Dual wield weapons will now do slightly more damage.

My god, we will have even more DPS.... The other notes are below. I'm highlighting those I find interesting..

*** SOGA Models ***

- You can now choose to use either the SOGA models or the original character models!
- You have the ability to select which race-gender combinations you would like to use the new models for in Options > SOGA Models.
- Your choices determine which models you see on your screen. Other players will see your character in whichever model they have chosen to display.
- There are new models for the following races:
 * Barbarian
* Dark Elf
* Dwarf
* Erudite
* Gnome
* Half Elf
* Halfling
* High Elf
* Human
* Ogre
* Wood Elf
- You will have the ability to recustomize your character's appearance in a future update.

*** Desert of Flames ***

Arena Champions
- You can now enter the arenas in Qeynos and Freeport to participate in Arena Champions!

Zones and Population
- Players can now reenter Lockjaw's Lair after 60 minutes instead of 6 days if they haven't successfully defeated Lockjaw.
- Choosing to revive after dying in Dorn's Cache will now put you much closer to the entrance of the zone.

*** Gameplay ***

- The rate at which you gain vitality as well as maximum vitality have been increased for higher level players. This was done because players would burn through vitality very quickly at higher levels.
- If a raid leader goes linkdead with the Leader Only option selected, the new raid leader will be able to loot items.
- You can now loot corpses from farther away.

*** Quests ***

- Many heritage quests have been modified to be more fun and less tedious:
 * A number of named creatures related to heritage quests now have placeholders with distinct names themselves.
* The respawn times on some creatures have been reduced, while others now have a greater likelihood of spawning.
* Several creatures that used to despawn after a period of time no longer do so.
* Two named creatures related to the Greater Lightstone quest are now Heroic x1 instead of Heroic x2.
* The following heritage quests have been modified: Bag of Sewn Evil Eye, Flowing Black Silk Sash, Ghoulbane, Golden Efreeti Boots, Greater Lightstone, Manastone, Polished Granite Tomahawk, Screaming Mace, Shiny Brass Halberd, Short Sword of the Ykesha, Stein of Moggok, Tobin's Mystical Eyepatch, Dwarven Work Boots, Glowing Black Stone, Guise of the Deceiver, Heirophant's Crook
- Many of the tomes found in Zek, the Orcish Wastes are available as Second Edition collectors' books! These books are also available through Sages Indis Surion and Navarius Orvalis if you have previously completed the old tome version of those quests.
- Arven no longer requires the completion of "Ruins of Varsoon: Investigating the Masoleum" before he will give the Chamber of Immortality access quest, "Where Will This Lead Me?"
- Killing any owlbear in Nektulos forest will now count for the quest Mercenary Contract - Owlbear Extinction.
- Page 8 of The Cleft Dweller and the title page of the Freeport Sewers Creature Catalog have been corrected.

*** Zones and Population ***

- Grozmog is now closer to the mines.
- Niscanith's special abilities have been retuned to be more manageable.
- Bloodskull mystics have been forced to dress appropriately, as have Nerius tacticians.

*** Items ***

- NPC members of city factions will now accept all levels of status loot rather than certain levels.
- Status loot will now indicate roughly how many status points you will receive for turning the item in.
- All halberds have been changed from Great Spears to Great Axes.
- The Shady Swashbuckler is now able to sell back Electrified Bone Bladed Claymores to those who sold or destroyed theirs.
- Corpse loot items that had the "Fabled" designation should no longer display a qualifier. These items were never intended to have the "Fabled" description, as they are clearly not fabled items. As a side-effect, some of the values merchants will buy these for have changed.
- All rare corpse loot items (those marked with "Looted X treasure") have had an increase in their sale value.
- The spirit horse and flying carpet mounts have had their prices changed to be more reasonable. The old versions of these two mounts can be sold to the stable hands for a refund on the status spent and close to the amount of platinum originally spent.
- Old-world catalog books will look the same as the old tomes when placed in your home.
- Hex dolls spell effects can now be interrupted while casting.

*** Spells and Combat Arts ***

- Wards that share one ward across
I'm really excited about this update, as well as the chance to redo your characters appearance.

As a owner of the Flying Carpet (real one), i'm not sure how I feel about this change. On one hand, I hate the idea of everyone owning one of these, but on the other hand I can sell mine back almost at cost according to patch notes, which will let me switch to the undead horse (everyone has the quested carpet).

I don't think that monks really needed much, i'm quite happy with where we are now. Because i'm only level 35 and have only done 5 heritage quests, I look forward to the changes so I can complete these easier. Its extremely difficult to find pick up groups to work on these (my guild's average level is 53+).

Just out of curiousity, what are these "SOGA" models they are talking about?

SOGA models were made for the asian version of the game (by another company I might add, not SOE itself) to make it look more appealing to the people there. Offcourse since anime and manga are so popular worldwide these days, there have been a lot of requests to make the models available for the US and EU versions of the game as well.

Hummm asian models, I wonder what old Tundra Jack would say if he saw me as an asian barbarian. I do like the scars and such though not sure about the whole asian, was never a big fan of the Lineage II look.

- Dual wield weapons will now do slightly more damage.

ARGH! I just got a shiny new Ironwood Bo staff............. going to be wasted money now

I wouldn't say the Ironwood Bo staff is wasted money at all... I'm doing far more damage with the Bo than with dual wields anyways. With a STR buffer in group the Bo is obscene. With average hits hitting between 275-400 every 0.8 seconds you do mean dps without even doing combat arts. I think they needed to boost dual wield damage to get them up to 2h damage anyway. As a sorta side note people seem to be dogging DoF fabled weapons yet is a dual wield with a damage rating of 40 worth crying about even though it doesn't have a proc?

The soga models are Korean in design, and if they were Anime, all the characters would have huge eyes about 1/4th the size of the rest of thier head.

Raage - i've asked a similar question in another thread. Seeking advice on T6 weapons. I think we'll have to wait till after LU16 to see the full impact of the DW changes. I'm going to hold off until then to decide. Gaige has suggested that 2 ironwood quarterstaffs would be ideal, though gave no clarification for the choice. I think if you absolutely need a new weapon asap, any of the T6 rare crafted weapons would fit the bill and would last till 60 or until you got a fabled. If you're like me though, you want to make the best choice possible for your play style, and I don't think there is enough information available just yet to decide. At this point in the game, I don't know if I would spend a lot of effort getting a RGF when the T6 weapons are just as good if not better. T5 fabled < T6 crafted seems to be the rule. As you'd expect items from a higher tier to be better than the previous tier. Fabled or not.

Thanks x0rtrunks, I'm still 46 at this point, and bringing up an Assassin, so it will be a little bit until I need to decide. But the RGF seems to be something that my guild is running across, and if I can get to 50 and into a raid, I can probably get one (maybe, if I'm LUCKY). But I really like the animations of the DW QS's and the Bo Staff but will likely go w/ whatever makes my character the most effective as far as DPS is concerned.
