I'm looking to be a Monk type character in game, but really like the idea of being Iksar (having played an Iksar Monk in EQ1). Now, I suppose my question is this... is it actually worth doing the Betrayal Quest to become a Monk, or is Bruiser similar enough, just evil? As well, are Monks hindered by weight restrictions, a la EQ1 where I think 30 was the magic number where weight started affecting your Armor rating? Thanks in advance!

The two classes play in a very similar manner with only some subtle differences in over-all use. Weight restrictions that effect armor did not make a return in EQ2 (thank god).

since i play both, the major differences are the mezzes and the hastes. I do think a monk seems a little better for grouping and a buriser a little better for solo, but both are more then adequate in either role.

I did the betrayal just to be a Ratonga Monk :smileyhappy: I think it's more of personal preference though... Bruisers are a slight lean towards offense, Monks are leaning slightly more towards defense, to be very vague and slightly innacurate. Overall, not too much of a difference.
