There seems to be a lot of interest in Gis at the moment, so I thought I'd post how to get the level 30+ Blood Drenched Gi.

(Note: it is NOT "Gi's". No apostrophe. I know it looks weird, but that's just the way it is, ok?)

The full post is in the Bruiser section. It's a bit of a mess as I was writng it whilst doing the quest, though I believe Ganjookie has already linked it in another thread on this very board.

Anyway, here is the skinny:

1) It definitely drops from either Rhayne T'Dax or Nilth T'Feyd (the first two of the named vampires in the first instance of The Mysterious Artifacts quest in the Tombs of Night).

2) You can get it soloing, or grouping, and you can even get a spare for Sunday best if you already have one.

3) The optimum level is 45 as most of the rest of the zone is greyed out and you can zip through to the named vampires without having to [Removed for Content] about. The nameds are levels 35 and 36, so this is as easy as they get before they grey out too. As long as the vampires con green you will eventually get a drop. If you're too high mentor someone. It will be fine.

4) It may take a very, very long time to get a drop. It's not like getting this Gi is easy to start with. How many Brawlers are there? Quite a lot. What percentage have actually found this armour through their own efforts? I'd hazard a guess at just a tad over, oh, f*ck-all.

Making it 'No Zone' is really taking the [Removed for Content], especially as there is no warning or information available to tell you that the item you spent all that time and effort - and money - on will disappear for no good reason. And what the f*ck IS 'No Zone' by the way, and where is the explanation for the purpose of this tag?

Clearly the item can be zoned out without wearing it otherwise it wouldn't be available on the broker once every 7 months. But why put yet another hurdle in the way of fun gameplay? Is the game better and are the players happier that it's so inexplicably difficult to get this item? What's the worst case scenario? That Brawlers might have a decent chance at wearing armour they actually want?

That acquiring the Gi should require time and effort is perfectly understandable, but there is a point beyond which the sense of achievement at surmounting the challenges SoE throws our way becomes a sense of bewilderment as to why things have to be quite this bloody complicated.

Not a happy boy.

I'm confused by what the no-zone tag actually does.... Does it mean you can only wear it inside the zone in which you got it? Or that it unequips when you zone... or what's teh point of the no-zone tag at all?

What I CAN tell you is that if you equip and attune a Gi you've bought from the broker, it acts just like normal items and stays where it bloody well should. I can also tell you that if you're already wearing one and have just managed to get another to drop, when you zone out the unattuned, unworn Gi will be nothing more than a fond memory. Don't ask me why - I've only just reached the mental equilibrium where I can even tell you this without having to periodically leave the keyboard to assault innocent passers-by and bite the heads off local fauna.

I posted a thread on the Items & Equipment forum linking here. The item devs generally read there and will hopefully fix this soon.

Please forgive my ignorance, but I just recently purchased the adventure pack and really haven't gotten far into it as I've been playing around in DOF instead. As I understand it, the Tombs of Night pack is kind of linear in it's storyline/quests, meaning I probably have to do a few other things first before I can get to the named vampires no?

The key thing to remember when playing the Bloodlines expansion is that it's cack. This means that the quests are extremely dull and long and awful, and that the mobs are bemusingly overpowered. In fact, off the top of my head I can't think of any mobs that are as under-conned, pound for pound, as the named vampires in the Tombs of Night. These chaps have plenty of hitpoints, can melee like b*stards, and throw out all manner of nasty AoEs and DoTS from a seemingly limitless power pool.

The ultimate reward for completeing the storyline is nominally an ability to assume the form of a vampire (without any of their powers, unfortunately) and 'Corpsecrush', a very powerful vampire-specific attack which, for reasons best known to the designers, is attained at precisely the point where you don't have to kill vampires any more.

However, the real best reasons for doing this storyline as a Brawler subclass are the Blood Drenched Gi - which is a great chest piece with very good melee stats and, more importantly, an unusual graphic - and 'Devastation Fist' which, in my opinion at least, is the very useful ability to one-shot all sub-50 non-heroic/epic mobs. It stuns you for a few seconds after you cast it, but it's still worth all the hassle even if just for its ability to [Removed for Content] off other classes. Both of these are available without having to finish the storyline, and unless you really want that natty 'Vampire Hunter' tag I would just stop there.

To get to the named vampires you need to complete the D'Morte Burial Chambers in SE Nek Forest (which will take no time for a decent party or a 40+ soloer), then go up to Timber Falls and talk to either the 'good' or 'evil' quest-givers who lounge around near the waterfall. The quests are all covered at OGaming, http://eq2.ogaming.com/db/search/quests_results.php?zone_name=Tombs%20of%20Night:%2 0A%20Search%20for%20Answers, but basically, you need to clear a couple of missions in the caverns behind the falls before vampires appear.

Message Edited by annaspider on 10-01-2005 09:55 AM

Are there any Gis that are reasonable to get at level 51 without an x4 raid that actually have better stats than T5 Legendary tunic? I mean seriously, from what I've seen of the Blood Gi it's way outdone by an Augmented Tunic or a Scaled Tunic for that matter. Anything that seems to beat out the Blood Gi seems to be fabled from X4 raids, and while my guild is just to the point of x4 raids they arnt happening frequent enough for me to feel like I have any decent chance at a rare fabled drop from an x4 raid zone. The targets that seem like they have it on their loot table seem to be a) rare drops and b) no interest in the targets or zones, such as Splitpaw Raid zone.

Bleh, we need a compiled guide to all the Gis in the game.
Yup - this is the most desirable non-fabled Monk/Bruiser item, it works great (I'm still wearing it at 46 even though the pristine imbued augmented has its advantages) and if you go through the (many, many) hoops to get one you can make a sh*tload of cash.

If the 'no zone' tag had been slapped on all iron cestii, for example, I'm sure we could all live with that. I'm having a slightly different problem.. I was wearing the gi when LU#13 was put in, and whenever I zone it is dropped into my overflow slot, regardless of whether or not my inventory is full. Also, if I put my 6th bag into my bank, whenever I zone the gi will always drop into the same slot in that bag, instead of my overflow. Have /bug'd this four times, getting close to the point of throwing it out (two friends already have )

I hate to beat a dead horse here...I have a few questions about getting this gi:1) Does it only drop in "ToN: Retribution"? Or can it drop off the named Vamps in "ToN:A search for answers" (I soloed Rhayne last night and he dropped a Master Chest that contained 2 server 1st items, which was a 1st for me, but no gi)?2) If only in "Retribution", how to you get that as an option? I am currently working the "Missing Scouts" quest in the "Search for Answers" zone, but Chief Strongarm is unsolo-able for me (the other 3 named went down, but he hasn't even come close yet) and I fear I need to complete that quest to get "ToN: Retribution" as an option.Thx

I think that it can drop of off any of the three named vampires metioned earlier no matter which instance of TON. As long as they are at least green to you they could drop it. I believe I got mine in the third instance, I forget the name though. But be aware that after the 3rd or 4th instance the named vamps have been replaced or are no longer there.

It's not often that i've seen it for sale, but I don't really look very often now that i have one. It's pretty expensive at lvl 30ish, I bought it for the looks more than anything, and just to add to my collection, but someone who could actually make good use of it probably couldn't afford it unless they're a twink.

I'm on the symbols quest and have been farming these two named vampires for the Gi. After reading these posts I guess I'll keep killing them. I have probably killed each 50 times with no Gi drop. Actually..killed them both 5 times in a row yesterday with no chest drop what-so-ever. If I kill all thiers buddys then FD I can kill the named but...doesnt that make the encounter not drop any chest loot? Getting annoyed but after reading this thread I guess it will finally drop..but the only loot I have seen is the censer, torture stick, tattered robes quest (which my 32 Conj loves ) and a few adepts.

I'm having a lot of trouble with Rhayne T'Dax at level 45. He's only level 35, but I get him down to orange and I'm just about dead, after having used Compress (adept I), the defensive stance (adept III), The rooting mitigation (adept III), the leather pants that give you 548 mitigation for 10 seconds, and even the Token of Defense that you get as a quest reward for Luring out Evil. Even without the Token of defense I could defeat the level 36 vampire Dvith'Nzur and his group. Is there some way to do this? Do I need to have all my skills at adept III to have a chance?

Killing part of the encounter and then feigning should not break the encounter though I have seen it happen before. I never figured out the exact cause but it stopped happening after a couple resets. You may be having a different problem, but I remember it happening only on the version of Nillith Tfed where he is on the ledge above the pentagram, not actually down in the pit (which is the last/regular version of Tombs of Night). I had no luck with the earlier version that spawns in the Tombs of Night (XXXXXX) instance where he is on the ledge, but I got lots of Gis off the end version that is just called Tombs of Night. It was really easy to just zone back and forth to the Crypt of T'Haen until Nillith was in the room (maybe1 in 5-8 resets) and then he would have the Gi 1 in 4 times, and always some kind of chest. He was killable by lvl 44 with the FD-splitting and by 45 I didn't even have to FD.

My advice is only work on the Gi in the final Tombs of Night version (after quest 3 or whatever) and stock up and sell some over time (I got 2 plat each for them pretty quickly which is good money at that level).

Right, my adice is to advance the quest-line a bit. I did the evil version but the quest you mentioned, according to OGaming, sends you to the "Tombs of Night: Retribution" version. Once you finish that quest, either the next or the next quest after that gets you into what I call the regular "Tombs of Night" (no ":Retribution" or ":Search for Answers" or whatever other versions). At the "end" of that version you have the room with th epentagram on the floor with the door that gets you to Crypt of T'Haen. You use that door to zone in and out until you get a reset of the zone with Nillith right there (chest every time and Gi is like 1 in 3 drop). Very easy (especially compared to the "killed him 50 times and never get anything posts" I see about the earlier versions of the zone).

I have been trying to get this Gi for the past several days with no luck. I am 45 and am currently on the 'Symbols of the Damned' quest so I am going into the Tombs of Night:Retribution instance. I generally only try to kill Rhayen T'Dax when I am in the zone solo since Nillith is tougher for me at 45. I have probably killed Rhayen what seems like 50 or so times also and have seen a bunch of Blood coated censers, cursed bracelets of the damned and a few leather tunics. I even got a Master chest off of him once, but still no Gi yet. Does this guy still have the Gi in his loot table and drop it? Are the odds better with Nillith? I can't believe it's this hard to get, especially since I think I've seen everything else Rhayen drops several times now. Can anyone confirm that they got the Gi from Rhayen T'Dax in the Tombs of Night:Retribution instance recently?

I could never get Rhayne to drop it either, after roughly 30-40 attempts. I got it after 6 or so attempts against Nilith, who I couldn't solo until the latter part of lvl 46. After the combat revamp that made NPCs use their class spells/CAs more frequently he became quite powerful.

I was in a group today where we farmed N'lith for the Gi. We got 3 of them in about an hour and a half. Group was me (45 SK tanking), a 48 Wizard, and a 57 templar who mentored to me, thus making the level 36 group green to us. The templar had access to the Crypts of Th'aen, so we just zoned in and out until the named would pop as we returned to the ToN. He dropped the Gi about 1 time in 3, and he popped about every 5th or 6th time we zoned back. The constant zoning was semi boring, but. . . we got the gi for the wizard 2x (1 for her monk alt, 1 for her husband's monk) and once for me (for my monk). We also got 2 of the "Torture Stick" staves that have a nice 12 STR, +3 crushing, and +70 vs slash and pierce. They don't do a whole lotta damage though, at least not when compared to my imbued oak bo staff, but still not bad. Couple of decent rings, and even a Master box 1x with a Master book, a Severed Oak, and an adept book. Not a bad hour and a half, really.

Now for my complaint about the Gi:

When you put it on, it doesn't cover your glove slot. I'm putting in 2 pics. the one on the left is how I expected it to look, the one on the right is how it actually looks.

Is it just me, or is that sick and wrong to have the gloves showing like that?

OOC.

Tonight, after reaching Monk Level 45, Lorianna started the Bloodlines quests, and when she had completed the first two quests ("Missing Scouts" and "Luring Out The Evil"), she started working on the third one "Symbols of the Damned". Even in a full set of Mastercrafted tier 5 leather and jewelry (apart from her "Gi of the Silent Fist Initiate" still in her chest slot), the heroic groups that these nameds come in were too hard to do in one attempt, so she killed some of the minions then FD'd the rest off, healed up, killed the rest of the minions, FD'd, healed up again, then pulled the named on his own and killed him (just!). Using this approach, she managed to kill both Rhayn T`Dax and Nilith T`Feyd, but they dropped nothing but teeth.

Second attempt, she killed them again, and this time, Nilith T`Feyd dropped a chest, and inside it was a nice shiney new "Blood Drenched Gi"!

WOOOOOOOT!

So, thank you for this thread, worked a treat!

Felishanna / Annaelisa & Lorianna

Does anyone know if this item is still NO-ZONE and cannot be placed on the broker? I have a lvl39 Bruiser that could use this Gi. I already completed the access quests so I will be heading in there soon to see for myself.

I'm pretty sure the no-zone thing got fixed a few updates ago. And it can be placed on the broker. I've seen it... for 6pp
