Hi all,

Sorry if this may be repetative but I am approaching level 40 and I am planning on dual wielding imbued weapons when I get there. In dealing with dual wielding, does each weapon have it's own % to proc? Is the % inceased since there would be two of that weapon? Or is only one of the weapons % chance to proc considered? Sorry if this is a bit vague, I have never had one of these before.

Krayzun

Some expert here will give you the full answer. But in short, your weapon speed effects the proc rate. So when buffed if you are using a 1s delay weapon, then your proc is halved or something. So two procing weapons is a total of 5%. This is done to keep it in line with the 2h series of weapons that are also 5%.

Someone will probably correct me since I did that from memory from threads many months ago

From what I recall, there were fewer overall procs when using DW as opposed to 2H - the same number from autoattack, but fewer from combat arts. This might have changed with the combat changes.

So if you have a 5% proc, and a 3 second weapon, each swing is approximately 5% of a chance to proc. If your weapon was 1.5 speed it would make a swing at 2.5% proc, and 3 speed would give you a 10% chance. This is why a lot of people who watched this info went with really slow weapons, if you were only going to get a single or a few swings in, you were betting that the odds would be boosted in your favor.. for example I had a long delay bow (I think 6 or so, whatever the default was) so that gave my 25% poison a 50% chance to proc on a given shot.. Since I would only lead in with the bow, I would get an effectively instant shot (since the delay is how long to rewarm up to shoot again, not a delay before you shoot) that would have a boosted chance to proc the imbued damage strike and a 50% chance to proc a poison.. really nice lead in for my swashy. Given that the proc rate is a percentage chance, over time the proc rate can be expressed in a per minute value.. if there is a 5% chance every 3 seconds, that 100% chance every minute (on the average, not a guarantee)... so weapon speed makes no difference in the long scheme of things.. just in situations where fights or use of that weapon are very short or just a single shot. With casting times of CAs largely negated from the equation, we still have the haste issue to contend with and the riposte issue, so I personally still recommend as slow a weapon as possible that has the highest damage rating you can get, even if it is a dual wield weapon set. One of the devs also mentioned something how procs were supposed to stack, but it wasn't clear to me if imbuing -both- dual wield weapons would actually give a double chance to proc, or if it was just going to be a single.. I suspect the latter, since they seem to like to cap things by name/type of proc.. i.e. two poisons of the same type dont stack, but you can stack different effects.. so I would suspect that having two gleaming strike imbued weapons wouldn't improve your chance.. but if you had two different named procs it should..

I parsed about an hours worth of fighting last night to see how my new Dual Wield weop was procing.. it has a 5% chance only one of my weops has this proc... it only fired off 5 times with lots and lots of fighting. I don't know if this imbued weop is worth the price after seeing the stats. Perhaps if my other weop procced it would be more. who knows.

Wow. Not to sound like an [Removed for Content], but it sounds as if you have horrible luck. I proc with both of my imbued augmented cestii about every-other fight or so. My wife, whom I duo with, asked if I was casting anything addtional or if her particle effects toggle has been changed, because litterally it looks like a firework display just about every encounter or so.
