I'm a lvl 31 DE monk. Recently, more for myself than statistical reasons, I purchased a Robe of Life and Death (5 agi, 7 str, misc not-so-bad stats but AC is only 92). I was really just gonna wear it while soloing and when in a grp as DPS. But I noticed something intersting when comparing #'s between this and my Pritine Tailored Etched Tunic. Vitals don't change a whole lot (attributes and resists are a non factor really, cuz they don't change all that much either):PTET:Hth: 1811Pwr: 1079Att: 548AC: 3661RoLaD:Hth: 1809Pwr: 1083Att: 548AC: 3528I know 130+ AC is a lot, but is it the difference in mitigation between light and VL armour that I should be concerned with? This is more out of curiousity than anything else, since while grping I will wearing the Etched gear.
Message Edited by Raage on 03-13-2005 03:09 PM
Message Edited by Raage on 03-13-2005 03:10 PM

I don't think that number is immediately available. That total AC is supposed to be how well you take hits and dodge/parry/riposte them as well. If your agility stayed the same or only changed very slightly, then your avoidance% would remain constant. However, when you get hit, its the "raw AC" of your body and gear that figure out how much damage you take.

If I remember, before the patch, at level 30 my AC (from gear alone) was around 1300. Right or wrong, let's say that is the case. You just lost 130 AC from your "raw AC" by putting that on. Therefore, you should expect your avoidance% to remain the same, yet you will take about 10% more damage when you get hit.

That is pretty steep if you ask me. I wouldn't wear a VL body piece when tanking. I don't know if the Robe of the Invoker is a special case or not.

When fighting the Ancient watcher I took avg 800 dmg crushing from his regular hits while the mage took 1,700 avg crushing dmg from his regular hits. Thats a big difference
