<DIV>With the recent MIT changes and AVOIDANCE base levels of 5% for plate wearing classes, how important is the AGI stat to zerkers?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks!</DIV>

<DIV>I would say a significant amount more important than it was before EoF. There is a point where it makes much more sense to put points into avoidance (gear, adornments, etc), rather than mitigation due to the larger return in tanking from it. This point will change depending on the person, their availability to high end gear, as well as the person's intended enemies.</DIV>

Much more important. Mitigation's still more important, but once you've got good armor (Mastercrafted or better) in all slots throwing points into AGI nets you much better returns than bumping mitigation yet more. Also boosting WIS helps a lot against spell damage. as do resists. What I do is spec out my armor and shield for mitigation, and then use jewelry aimed at boosting AGI, WIS and resists. A lot of AGI and WIS jewelry comes with STA built-in, so I'm also getting more health there.<div></div>

<DIV>Agility has always offered a very poor return on investment.  I would recommend focussing on getting +defence, +parry & + deflection gear instead of going for agility.</DIV>

<P>I believe its something like 85+ agi = 1% avoidance   so    you get much better returns beefing  Parry and then Defense in that order.</P> <P> </P> <P> </P>

It's nowhere near that. Running a Berserker I get around 13% avoidance just off of AGI (I'm up to 154 at level 45), before any other bonuses go in.<div></div>

<DIV>Are you sure that 13% isnt from a wide variety of things?   If you get butt naked and your avoidance says 13% and you have 154 agility, that doesnt mean that your avoidance is based solely on you agility.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I recall doing a gear test and it took 80+ agi to get 1% of avoidance when I swapped items out or got specific buffs.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'll check again and post some hard data.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

Obviously I don't have 154 AGI without my equipment. But that 13% is the defense percentage with my standard equipment on, block and parry percentages excluded, and my armor and other equipment doesn't have specific +defense bonuses on it, just +AGI and +resists. My total avoidance is more like 30% against frontal attacks. So I think I'm safe in figuring that the 13% defense comes mostly from AGI, not the shield or other specifically-avoidance bonuses.<div></div>

Hover over the Avoidance number in your Persona window and it'll show your avoidance percentage and break it down by Defense, Block and Parry. 13% is what I get for the Defense percentage, 36% is what I get for total avoidance (13% Defense, 18% Block due to my shield, 5%  Parry). Since I don't have any equipment that specifically increases Defense, Block or Parry directly, AGI's the only thing that can contribute to raising the Defense value other than my innate Defense rating. 36% total seems to me to be fairly good for a plate tank.As a practical matter, when I switched equipment to put less specifically into STR and STA and more into AGI and WIS, I started taking less damage and dying less often.  That right there's my criteria: the most important changes are the ones that keep you alive the best. I don't think I'd put more into AGI than I have already, WIS and specific resists are probably going to benefit more from some attention, but for an old-style Berzerker tank build AGI seems to be the high-return initial investment.<div></div>

Avoidance is composed of (base + block + parry + deflection).  Since our deflection is 0, we use the first three only.  Agility only affects base avoidance and the effect on base avoidance is diluted when you calculate your overall avoidance.  Same for parry and block.  Gong from 10% to 12% parry does not get you 2% of avoidance, rather 0.7% or so for example.  +defense also raises base avoidance.  I'm not sure on how/when the diminishing returns hits for +defense or +agi.<div></div>

<DIV>A question.....you can get +DEFLECTION items.  If your inate deflection is 0, will these items have any affect?</DIV>

<div><blockquote><hr>Herbster wrote:<div>A question.....you can get +DEFLECTION items.  If your inate deflection is 0, will these items have any affect?</div><hr></blockquote>Berserkers lack a Deflection skill.  It would be no different than having +Disruption on an item.</div>
