<DIV>Brace yourself, newbie fighter questions incoming.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So I rolled a beserker last night to get the best out of EoF. I'm now lvl 7 and have both a 2 hander and a 1 hander with quite a nice shield.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I know nothing about being a fighter except we taunt a bit and kick things occasionally <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> so I was wondering if anyone could give me a bit of advice of when it is appropriate to use a 1hander & shield as opposed to a 2 hander and vice virsa. Also, any help on which stances I should use with the weapon combo would be a great help.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'm sure that this subject has been done to death but I searched the forums to no avail and any help would be greatly appreciated. Loving teh tanking tho (it beats standing at the back throwing fire at mobs :smileyvery-happy:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>PS Another quick question I've thought off - could you let me know which type of ranged weapons do people use? A bow and arrows or throwing thingys. Could you let me know the reason for your choice (I'm guessing we can use throwing weapons aswell as B&A's)</DIV> <P><SPAN class=time_text></SPAN><SPAN class=time_text></SPAN> </P> <P><SPAN class=time_text></SPAN> </P><p>Message Edited by Jabbso on <span class=date_text>12-27-2006</span> <span class=time_text>03:42 AM</span>

I am no great expert on the topic but I have found that, at lower levels, if I am the main tank and in defensive stance the 1-hander+shield combo works best.  With the shield you get extra mitigation and the knock down.   Also, an imbued shield gives you a chance of the DOT proc if you get hit.  If I am not the main tank then going offensive stance with dual weild seems to be the better option over a 2-hander but not by much.  <div></div>

Bows have the longest range typically speaking so tend to be the item of choice for a ranged weapon. Depending on your gear a 1 hand + shield is useful when fighting high yellows or duoing even con + at the lower levels. When I was starting out my rule of thumb was to start as offensively as possibly and scale down as needed for the healer(s) to be able to reliably keep me alive. Sometimes I found myself with sword and board at the end of the night and that is fine. With Berserkers a large part of our aggro comes from our dps and so you want to maximize that as much as possible so as to allow your group to go as hard as they can.

<P>Hm, dual wield is ok... but not in PvP.</P> <P> </P> <P>You will shred yourself apart vs monk, wardens, fury's, coecrers etc, basically anything with a constant damage shield. Same for 1h + buckler.</P>

<DIV>by 5-10% health maximum, not to mention i won a few of them. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>You might beat me 1v1, but i would shred 90% of the other classes much more efficiently with the new damage shields everyone has. In the end, you keep mentioning the word "skill", thats cool mate, your good. However, why did you admit between us that buckler reversal was making the difference, then on here you change story?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If im willing to admit i lost, why cant you admit you won by a small margin, which was mainly provided by buckler reversal? If anything, the fact im not using a shield and im still taking you down to minimal health shows some "skill". I'd rather not get into a debate on the issue though, you beat me, and for that you get the pleasure of writing the story your way, just a shame its not entirely accurate <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Anyway, with the new insanely common amount of damage shields around, anything hitting fast for small amounts is a bad thing. Cap our haste and take a 2 hander and watch them cry as the dama eshield</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>My dreadnaught title was gained 80% through solo pvp, and i still solo pvp more than i do group pvp. I was the first zerker on venekor to get pvp armour, and i take pride in the fact i only ever lose fights vs unbalanced odds or people at the top of their game in DPS roles, kudos to those people, they are always a great fight and i enjoy it.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV><p>Message Edited by Legiax on <span class=date_text>12-27-2006</span> <span class=time_text>07:42 AM</span>

My advice to you is once you hit level 10 start going down your KOS ap line for str till you get 448 in that tree. This will give you 22% chance to crit as long as you are using a axe in main hand since this is about lower levels this allows you to 2h, DW or 1h and shield as long as its axe type. After 448 str start putting  your AP into the sta line till you have 448 in that.Make sure in your travels you keep your eyes open for a good 1h axe and a buckler.the 448 sta line will give you a free hit every 30s basicly due to buckler reversal and a 76% chance to double hit with the 1h (basicly allowing you to diel wield with the higher dgm rateing of a 1h and the added protection of a very small shield). This works great with the 22% crit chance from useing a axe. After that Am not sure for me i spent the rest of my kos points in the wis tree for the added mit and the added dps boost.those 2 trees will allow you to dps very well and dps is one of the best means for us to argo control.I normaly run in offense stance unless i notice the healer having issues with keeping me in the green then i change to defense. To the 2 guys discuessing the pvp aspect of this iam pretty sure he asked for PVE advice. Please dont side track his post with a pvp blow out. <div></div>

You know for me it really depends on what I want to acomplish. If I am tank in a group I like the one handed  with a sheild. If I am solo I really like the duel weild. I dont play around to much anymore with using a twohanded but of course its always up to you.
