Weapon Switching

Good evening,I wonder, do any of you guys do any weapon switching mid combat? I come from WoW, where I played a druid and weapon switching mid-combat was fairly common. I am wondering if there are any penalties to doing it in EQ2. I am mainly interested in it because of the APs, the ones that require a certain weapon. I want to go down the STR line and the AGI line... seems like i could swap out a spear to hit the AOE and then switch back to my great axe for the +crit ability. Perhaps throw the great sword ability in the INT line too, not sure.Any thoughts?Thanks. <div></div>

There is a two (maybe three) second restriction on weapon switching mid-combat so you can only change weapons after every interval has passed... which really puts restrictions on the concept of switching different weapons in and out for different combat arts / AAs.The idea of switching from, example, a 2-hander to a 1-hander and shield so you can use your shield slam and then switch back is obsolete because of the above restriction. There are going to be a few seconds there when you have no weapon in your primary and if you need to use shield slam you will most likely be tanking and thus wouldn't require a two-hander anyway.To be honest I've not experimented much with switching primary weapons to pull off different AAs. It's possible but usually it just doesn't seem worth the hassle and most of the weapon specific AAs arts aren't all that great.

I appreciate your response and your link LittleFeesh. I wouldnt say the ability is useless, just sounds like it would take a lot of coordination so you dont waste it on an autoattack. I want the +crit AP to 8 so i am going to have 4 points in the ability 1 way or the other, might as well try to make good use of it. <div></div>

<div></div><div></div>I always weapon switch, im in the wis tree and I will switch to 2hb (or 1hb depending) to do my knockdown + belly smash then switch back to current weapon I was using.  I mean its quick and easy, just put the weapons you want to switch on a hotbar, press the key and you will swap.  Real easy now you can switch equipment like what? every 1 sec, used to be like 3-4 sec which kinda sucked.<div></div><p><span class="time_text"></span></p><p>Message Edited by SlapnutsGT on <span class=date_text>07-11-2006</span> <span class=time_text>07:39 AM</span>
