Ok so, this is my problem, and i need some advice/tips. I don't MT for raids in my guild, as apparently 95% of other zerkers do (guess I'm lame or something), but I do DPS, and I'm having problems with tearing aggro from the MT. IN encounters of 3 or more, I will always gain aggro, and I will almost always die, In encounters of 2 or less, I usually don't.

I guess my question is, is there something I should do different to not get aggro? I usually pop open wounds (adept1) and Destruction (adept3) at the same time, but now i'm spacing them apart, and that seems to help somewhat. If the brigand pops his dispatch, I'm pretty screwed. I use an ancient velium lance with rank 8 dragoon's cyclone, so 24% of the time I'm damaging multiple mobs. Any input would be appreciated.

Your prolly doing too much AE dmg, more dmg to the mobs not currently targeted by the MT cause you to build hate more towards them. I get the same problem but they always put amends on me. Another thing to check is to make sure you don't have like a bunch of scouts putting hate transfer on you either. I had this happen once I would die, get rezed while I was buffing even before I even used a combat art I'm gettin killed again. Come to find out I had 3 scouts puttin hate transfer on me, one even had master I. But, I seriously think your problem is doing too much AE dmg, when I don't have amends I usually wait say 30-45 sec before using destruction, then when its done wait 30-45 sec to use open wounds, or vice versa.

We are just not build for offtanking. Even when a guardian puts his aggroreduction on me i still have to be careful with aggro...

Well i'm lucky, i'm MT in 95% of the time :smileyvery-happy:

Simple math really. Too many tanks to raid force ratio. :smileyhappy: What's the use of having a 4x4 if you only drive on the highway? (our two best DPS oriented CA's stacked) Yep, more times than not, you will gain aggro this way. Never stack Open Wounds with Destruction on a raid unless a "burn" is called. I still wouldn't do it, then. You have three very useful spells for DPS on three min. timers.- Destruction, Juggernaut, and Open Wounds.> Destruction is the largest burst DPS enhancer of those. Never use it with Jugg. or Open Wounds. When you use it, don't continue to spam CA's. It's a 36sec Duration, you can space it out. Auto Attack for a few swings inbetween the Combat Arts (that proc Destruction). Also, procs seem to have some sort of multiplier associated with the threat they produce. (Maybe x1.5?) I've observed that the 1 DMG point = 1 THREAT point is null, if it is a proc. For some reason, it looks as if the simple fact that it's a "proc" pisses the mob off.>Main TIP: Space out Combat Arts while this buff is up.> Juggernaut is an interesting timed buff. (That you didn't mention.) This is actually a very good (or bad in this case) hate increaser. You can usually stack this with Open Wounds to help each PBAoE Auto Attack swing "Crit". But if you are going the route of stacking them, wait until at least 60% on the raid targets health..>Main TIP: Continue to "stagger" with this and use only low DMG CA's (the ones with Debuffs attached are a good idea). [Stagger, meaning do not allow them to overlap in duration.]>Open Wounds is probably the least threatening buff of these three, when used by itself. (With a good tank) Just keep it in your pants if you are goign to stack it with Jugg. until the lower 2/3 (collectively) of the mobs health.>Main TIP: Also Auto-Attack for the 36sec. that this buff is up. (It would theoretically lower your DPS if you did anything else than Auto-Attack)As Far as your AA choice. I might would look into just taking the STR line for the Crit increase- Anything that will help your DPS but that will keep it single target when you need it to.Also, I'm guessing your MT is a Warrior. If he didn't go for the overall threat amount increase in the STR line, perhaps he should. Incredible for aggro IMHO, Night and Day. (Not to suggest your MT does not know his class or has his own style, but a slower raid is a weaker one, in most cases..)General Tips:Use group Berserk Proc (War Cry) instead of Self Target (Engulfing Rage).Keep Taunting Defense OFF.Space out your DMG. (This actually leads to higher sustained DPS when you get used to the stagger and timing of it all.)Although, your guild may want to look at getting a Zerk in there for the multi-encounters if they haven't.Hopefully any of that is helpful to you bud, best of luck finding your specific stagger.

Message Edited by Kuleon on 06-22-2006 04:30 PM

Thanks for the input all, I've taken a liking to the illusionist I get stuck with, cause his detaunts help alot. I still get aggro sometimes, mainly when the brig dispatches. My Destruction hits between 500 and 700, and can crit in the 1ks, when he does. Although now I survive long enough for my MT to recover aggro. I acutally have no idea what AA route she's gone, cept I know she has quite abit in STA AA. I AM going to go STR 4-4-8, AGI 4-5-8 and WIS 4-4-8, so I think I'll do some decent consistent AE damage.

I must admit, this thread is great :smileyvery-happy:

It's almost as if a Wizard was asking why he pulls aggro when he casts Fusion and Ice Comet on the mob before the tank made his first taunt :smileywink:

Anyway, as a zerker you are supposed to do damage not to do damage, but to gain hate and so you are perfectly fullfilling your role as a tank, so you are doing just fine.
