Good morning!I am wondering, does anyone use the STR ultimate? I see a few posts below this one saying that the STA line is really great for DPSing, i was just wondering if anyone was "gutsy" enough to try out the STR ultimate. +25% to crit and +15% CA damage while below 50% health.I thought perhaps you could pump your health so that even at 50% you still have some decent health and then just maul stuff (50%ish to crit with the level 3 str line AP, over 100% for 10 secs every 30 secs if you have a great axe (unless im reading that wrong)). I thought maybe this would be effective because crit affects both CA and auto attack, and DPS and haste and the extra swing from STA only affect auto attack.Oh, and this is mainly a "soloers" question.Any thoughts? Im just a newb, but "theorycraft" is always fun Thanks for your time, have a great day.

I'm planning on it. Saving up the 8 points required now.

I'm all about the str anyway, and I use an axe as my primary weapons, so the line suggested itself as the most desirable.

As a soloer, I suspect it'll rarely come into play. The mobs I typically stomp don't get my health down that low. But occasionally, they do, and even get me so low the madness kicks in, reckon in those situation it's gonna prove excellent. Those fights I'd spend a while below 50%, then after the madness has woken me back up I'll spend another good while enjoying that particular aa.

Was kinda just aiming at getting it because it was there, for completeness, and that i mirrored zerker abilites of old EQ1. Now I think about it, it may not be the most useful way to spend that many points. I should have another squint through the abilites.

Nice. How is the tier 2 ability (the + crit one with a great axe?). Nice? Do you use it a lot? Im just basically trying to decide if i want to go for an ultimate or just do the + CRIT% and + haste and +DPS talents. Passive is king. The wisdom one seems pretty good, though i dont know how big of an issue stances get to be later in the game. Edit:And just to clarify, i was talking about setting up a build wih the STR ultimate and then purposefully falling into the +crit range just to do more damage Crazy? Every fight, as I scroll through the combat arts. I may end a series of them with it so I ain't interupting the auto attack damage with combat art casting times.

I wouldn't know how effective it really is. The damage is incremental enough so I don't see a mob's health bar lose a chunk in one hit as I would with Rampage and such. Never been into parsing as they aren't for me, but the ability feels like it's cool enough.

Used to be Str for AA line, switched over. Now use STA-WIS lines. Can honestly say i see more DPS with the STA than i did with STR. Using a buckler only lost 4% avoidance then when i used the Draconic Deflector, and maybe 100mit, not even enough to make a difference. Soloing is still cake, able to solo 71^^^, so just do what you like the best I say

I have the final strength skill and find it quite usefull. It has saved me many a time when soloing and also when the group gets a few adds and I end up out of power. The damage boost seems to be quite nice and often will finish off that mob that would have otherwise killed me. I find the strength line has me critting every other hit which makes my damage quite solid with or without CAs.
Message Edited by Mogthol on 06-29-2006 10:20 AM

Thanks for the late response.Again, in my mind i wasnt thinking of it as a "Just in case i get beat up" kind of thing..I was thinking about rollin around at 50% health and jackin stuff up hehe.*shrug*As it stands i will probably get +crit, +dps and +haste to get myself as close to 100% in those areas as i can. The dragoon one sounds cool but is no good if you're fighting a solo mob *shrug*
