I'm a crossover from pali to zerker on a PvP server and was wondering when we get a ranged attack. I know we can use them sometime...but when? I'm currently lvl 12 and really like being a zerker, great class so far. Being on a new server is touch, but fun. Nothing on the boards for sale really, and having to watch your back constantly is a lot of fun. Anyway, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I think you get ranged attack ability at lvl 16+ Not totally sure on this because it has been so long but I seem to remember getting it around that time frame.

We never get any ranged attacks as far as CA's go and we don't get any ranged nukes like Pallies do either, if that's what you're thinking. You can equip a bow at level 1, the merchant on the island will sell you one that you can use, and you have to buy some arrows for it too and put them in your ranged ammo slot. Then you can use the ranged auto attack button that's in your knowledge book under abilities to shoot it. That's well we get. Have fun

Message Edited by infernus006 on 02-23-200603:50 PM

Cool...THANKS! Probably would have never figured that one out. I would have been like lvl 33 and still looking for my "ranged attack" to come. So if we use a bow...can we hit as hard with it as say a scout can?

I believe the amount of damage you do with your bow depends on how much STR you have just like it does with all your other weapons, not counting procs of course. Arrows do peircing damage but I'm not sure if pericing skill effects their damage or accuracty or anything. Scouts get some ranged CA's that utilize their bow (Rangers do anyway) so naturally they are going to do more damage with their bow if you are taking the damage from the CA into consideration, but generally scouts and warriors will be capable of the same amount of damage with a bow as far as auto attack by itself is concerned. Not that it really matters, we don't generally use our bows to do damage, we only use them for pulling.

Message Edited by infernus006 on 02-23-200605:37 PM

Different types of arrows do different types of damage. I actually didn't learn this until a few weeks ago, during a raid, when none of my arrows hit, and it was because the mob was immune to piercing. This isn't as much of a problem now, since mobs aren't suppose to be immune, just possibly highly resistant. So I went to the bower, and bought different types of arrows that did crushing damage, and those hit real well. Yes, strength is the factor on how much damage can be dealt with a ranged weapon (atleast for berserkers, may be different for someone else), although agility probably is a factor on how accurate it is, but I'm guessing here. And yes, if you have gear/weapons that add to your piercing, slashing, or crushing skill, it will make a difference, even on your ranged weapon. I can't remember the figures exactly, but I ran around for awhile killing the same crocs in SS for awhile using my piercing arrows, and averaged out the parses for each. Then I equipped one of my duel wield weapons, that had +4 piercing and did the same thing, and numbers were up.

In KoS yesterday, I looted something I never saw before. It's a 2H thing, that is actually used for ranged combat. It's not a weapon itself, but goes in the 2H slot. It has +4 ranged and +4 piercing (I think it's piercing). So for the rare occasion that I can't stand up close to the mob (even for a short duration - ie jousting), I can atleast get a little more damage from my arrows.

Message Edited by FightGame on 02-23-200606:49 PM

Message Edited by FightGame on 02-23-200606:51 PM
