The topic says it all. I need to be a high elf for roleplay purposes, but it seems like the lack of stength/stamina would hurt me greatly. Would they make a good Paladin or something?<div></div>

As a Dark Elf Berserker, the extra agility helps me for hitting targets and a little towards not being hit. The reduced stamina can hurt sometimes, but our nice combination of stuns and increased damage help make up for it. Our primary targets are groups of mobs. Higher Agility helps there as it is easier to dodge these mobs compared to a single ^^^ or named. Even so, our ability to damage makes up for our lack of pure taunts and again, Agility is a bonus as it makes it easier to hit targets. The higher WIS you'll have over brute races give you a slight edge in resistances when tanking casters but only if you further enhance that above what other players might normally do. Gear is usually still the defining factor in resists. As with any race, either play on your strengths or go for balancing by enhancing your weakness. There will always be something that you will not be best suited to fight regardless of your race/class combo. From a roleplaying standpoint, if you choose berserker, you might want to put some thought into why an overly civilized race as High Elf would descend into a raging fury that Berserkers are known for.Statwise, they'd probably make better Paladins in the traditional sense, but it's amazing what potential can be unlocked by toying with a non-standard idea.<div></div>

<div></div><div></div><div></div><p>Yep, I agree eith Kaberu...</p><p>In the lower tiers that 5 or 10 points of stamina might make a bit of a difference, but to be honest, by the time you get to the higher levels it's not really going to make that much odds and you can pick your gear to compensate.</p><p>If you wanna make a high elf for role play purposes, then pick your class by the same or by which you think you'll enjoy the most.  Don't play x class over class y just because of a few points of strength or stamina makes class x seem slightly more appropriate.</p><p>For a tank having fairly balanced stats is a good thing - str for dmg and power, agi for avoidance, sta for HP and wiz for resists (and heals etc in the case of crusaders), so i really wouldn't worry - what you loose slightly in one may well be made up for by another anyway.</p><p><span class="time_text"></span> </p><p>Message Edited by WolfShark on <span class="date_text">01-09-2006</span><span class="time_text">03:48 PM</span></p>

<div>Generally I'd say high elves make fairly good crusaders.</div><div> </div><div>However, you should consider that any race can play any class and at higher levels hardly notice any difference in performance.  Items equalize stats fairly well by that time.</div><div> </div><div>In fact at level 60 it's easy enough to hit the cap with whatever main stat you choose that you won't need to look for new items for that stat, and will have room to work on others no matter what race/class combination you choose.</div><div> </div><div> </div>

Your character is what you make it.  Sure there are some better ablities due to race for each class.  However you can play your char no matter what the race is.  I know a Gnome Guardian that plays as good as any other guardian out there.  Why.... beacuase he knows his class.Be creative and be good at it you'll earn status for it more than if you just play the usual.  IMO.<div></div>
