OK what I am looking for is advice on how to lower my aggro while keeping my dps while dpsing. On a raild last night I was not MT or off tank just pure dps. The raid leader wanted all the dps I could put out since we didnt have alot. Well I had just dinged 47 and received destructive rage and constantly kept taking aggro. I was using the crook as a weapon and even when I would just auto attack (no specials) I kept gaining aggro from my buffs and zerks. Also I was not using Venhemence (sp) as I was not in the MT group. So I need help to avoid this in the future so I am not reserved to hang in the back with the healers and toss stones at the raid mobs. If I dont find a way to control this I am going to have to retire my Zerker from the raid curcuit.

that means your MT for the raid itsnt prolly up to par taunt wise ( meaning all agro skills are adept3 or better ) because i put out 170+ raid dps going all out ( minus relentless battering and vanquish ) and i dont take agro.... ( when in dps mode ) Destructive Rage btw isnt really the reason why you are losing agro, maybe its the fact that almost all your atks have a interupt / stun on them, or your using Promise of Violence etc which is a really bad idea if you are...... Or maybe your Raid MT shouldnt be raid mt ( if he is having problems holding agro )

I am the only one taking aggro from him :smileysad: I will ask what level his taunts are.

What Styker said.

Either the MT is poorly using his taunting / aggro skills, or youre using skills that increase your hate towards mobs (ex: Sunder, Promise of Violence, Raging Strike, etc).

A well played MT of any of the tank classes is hard to pull aggro from, if you're not using taunt moves / skills or buffing yourself with HP/Str buffs. You will get the occasional aggro, but if the MT plays well, he gets aggro back to him in no time.

Everyone who posted before is correct. A well played MT shouldn't have too much trouble keeping aggro off you if you are not using any hate increasing attacks.

On a side note, I try to watch how early in the fight I use Anarachy. I use it when the mob is at about 80% and about 30% health to avoid stealing aggro. Anarchy is a huge aggro spell, in line with a lot of taunts really, and is great to supplement your own Main Tanking, but should be watched carefully in a raid situation, as mobs gobble up the hate on that one.

Cyonide Wolfpaw - 50 Zerker - Befallen

Count to 10, then attack, never ever use Promise unless your the MT and dont for any reason rebuff in combat till the mob is at least 50% dead..

I have had the odd tell from raid leaders to 'tone it down', my response is usually to not use arts for 20 seconds, then go 80% of hell for leather..

Strewth

50 Zerker of Allure - Najena

All good suggestions... I will also add-- if you DO take agro and are NOT the MT... turn off your attack-- chances are you've only slightly gained more hate than the MT, a few hits from him should turn the mob back to him, then wait 3-5sec and re-engage.

The biggest misunderstanding that some players have while trying to MT is thinking that they still need to worry about doing serious damage. Damage is fine, great for aggro, but just not at the expense of taunts. I'm not saying forget about it, just not at the expense of taunts. Too often, MT's not keeping aggro are spending too many specials on attacks and not taunting as often as they can. IMO, taunt first, use attack specials when taunts are recyling. Doing that, it's almost impossible for a MT with upgraded skills to lose aggro.

Go easy and wait for the word. Don't buff in combat, use no hate pushers. Above all else wait for the unleash command as MT judges they have enough hate. If you take agro stop attacking completely, the second you get it, allow MT to build again a little before going back in for more.

Also, if you gain aggro, don't forget Hunker Down. I'm not sure how effective it is once it grays out, but as other posters have said, if you pick up aggro by accident, you probably only have a little more hate than the MT. Stop attacking, don't do any specials, and Hunker Down. Odds are the MT can pull aggro back shortly, then you take a pause (Mort mentioned 20 seconds, sounds good to me) before resuming attacks.
Use screaming mace , Hunkle down and turn yourself to lazy mode and go grab a drink A_A

Just duel wield on auto attack and let your zerker haste do the rest. Or wait for 10 sec to join fight. Or spam attack like all hell and turn off attack when agro turns to you. I do these all depending upon whats for dinner.

I buff in combat all the time and use anarchy as much as possible and i never take aggro, you MT just has a problem with his taunts then.
