<DIV>Yes.  When tanking in a group that has at least 2 other dps, I always use a shield.  Makes the healers happy.  :robottongue:</DIV>

Since we can use Tower Shields, where is a good place to find them for sell in FreePort or is it better to get someone to make you one? <div></div>

I'd say buy one off the brokers.  I know in Qeynos on my server theres a ton of good tower shield drops for sale on teh broker for ridiculously low prices...but that's usually 30+ stuff.   Can't say if there's stuff for 20-30 for sale often. <div></div>

<DIV>Personally I haven't found a shield yet that I'd rather use than the Shiny Brass Shield from the Training Is a Shield Heritage.  There are tower shields out there, Pristine Imbued Cedar for example, that do have better AC, but the stats are wrong for our class.  The SBS adds wicked health and STR if I remember correctly, where as the Tower adds Wis/Int.  Not very good for us.  I might be a bit off about stats on each, I'm trying to recall at work, so feel free to correct me.  But to me the extra AC isn't worth losing the extra pertinent stats.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Cyonide Wolfpaw - 50 Zerker - Befallen</DIV>

This deviates from the original post a bit, but...is it just me or do shields not actually add to total mitigation? When I examine myself before and after equipping, I see absolutely no difference in mitigation (however avoidance does rise sharply).  Is this intended or a bug, and if it is intended what is the point of the shield factor stat? <div></div>

Shields do not add to migitation they add to avoidance. <div></div>

That's what I thought, now to tell off that stupid defiler for arguing with me...but that still leaves my question, what is the "shield factor" value supposed to represent? <div></div>

Shield type defines your base block rate tower>kite>round>buckler then shields shield factor is added to base block rate and then it's at least divided by your level which will result your total block %. I don't know exact formula but somebody could figure it out. <div></div>
