I currently have 48 AA's I'm spec'd STR 4/4/8/8 and STA 4/8/8 and WIS 3 with 2 more coming soon.I'm guessing that being on a PvP server some players might go more offensive as a guardian for those situations you get jumped. Bucker line is great but I think in the end to raid I'll need to gear more toward going to raid helpful AA's.I'm curious what AA spec's are "raid tanks" are using on the regular servers and/or pvp serversIf your a raid tank and specifically spec'd for that please post your AA's and why..

Message Edited by Scarz67 on 06-06-2006 10:41 PM

WIS line for 8 points in the +mitigation ability, for an extra 314 mitigation. Some people go STR line after that to get +10% hate gain, some people max out the AGI line for 12s of stifled 100% parry (Reinforcement lasts 13 seconds, amazing coincidence there) and some people max out the INT line for +Parry (but with gear and a good dirge buff this will get maxed out often times anyway) and the 6% faster recast times / 30% faster recovery times. That equates to 6% more taunts, 6% more 30 second mitigation buffs, 6% more tower of stones, etc.

Which one is most useful to you will depend on your skills, gear and raidforce, but pretty much every raid tank who is not in a super high end guild with all max mitigation gear already goes for the WIS line + something else.

Some people also go with STA line now, but I'd hold off on that until the full impact of these buckler changes hit live.

- Rorrak

I would think that the +10% hate gain, +314 Mit, and the +WIS for resists would be ideal for raid MT.

Ahhh ok - I haven't personally gone down the AGI line and just had heard the thing about reinforcement - obviously that's wrong if there's a 12 second recovery time, although I suppose if you had the 30% faster recovery times ability that'd help a little, you'd only be unable to do things for 8 seconds instead of 12.

With the WIS line you get 10% DPS for 4 points, 20% for 8 points.

STR line adds a lot more hate than the WIS line - there's the passive +crit ability which by itself adds more hate than the +DPS ability, then you tack on 10% additional hate gain to the final damage numbers of those crits and all your taunts/temp buffs/debuffs/dots/CAs

+DPS is just for autoattack, +crits is for all damage, making crit chance more valuable (per point) if it's a strict choice thing. If you have the points to spare you could of course go for 20% DPS, 314 mitigation, full passive crits (forget the exact number, 20%+ish) and 10% hate gain.

If you only care about defensive abilities there are:

+ Defense (you should be capping this anyway, don't go for this one)

+ Parry (if you've got a dirge with upgraded abilities you should be capping this)

12 seconds of parry (has some issues apparently, can't do anything during it so you risk losing hate)

+ mitigation

+ block chance with a buckler only

Remove the penalties of your defensive stance (only helps to add damage really, and if you have enough hate gain this isn't necessary)

-6% recast times, -30% recovery times. 6% more Tower of Stone, Temp Mitigation buffs, taunts, CAs, slightly faster chaining of abilities initially to establish aggro (with less recovery time)

To me if your hate gain is fine, and your dirge has the master parry song, the only things even worth considering are +mitigation and - recast/recovery times and possibly 12 seconds of parry (you'll still gain hate from inflaming defense and a swashie/assassin if you can stick one in the MT group)

If you need to generate more aggro then start looking at the STR line for +crits and +hate gain, increasing your +DPS with an additional 4 points (assuming you went for mitigation in the WIS line) and possibly the INT or STA line for haste/double attack. The drawback with STA of course being the decreased avoidance post LU24, but we'll see how that actually plays out later, it may still be a viable option.

- Rorrak

Last night I tried the WIS / INT lines and holding agro wasn't nearly doable as STR / STA....I think the buckler line is really helpful in keeping agro... i know they are planning to nerf the buckers protection but even then it will still be helpful.. Last night using the WIS / INT line I had a 70 warlock in group and put my 38% hate reducer on him and he would still pulling agro on group pulls. When I was spec'd in the STR / STA lines I dont recall having that much problem with him in the group.
