<div></div><div></div>"PlayerName hits you for 29,950 points of heat damage"That was the message i saw on my mob hit tab a couple of weeks ago. We were in the Lab and were fighting the Doomforge (or whatever his name is). The Conjuror in my group decided to sacrifce her pet (Conjuror kills the pet and the group gets health and power, cant remember the name of the ability) so some people in the group could get a bit of power. Unfortunately i happened to have just clicked Stone Sphere and i apparently intercepted all of that damage for her pet and was laid out instantly. I've seen Stone Sphere intercept damage for pets before (very annoying i might add) but usually the stone skin proc is enough to compensate for the extra damage thats incoming. Guess I wasnt lucky with the proc that time. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />Needless to say when i reported what happened on teamspeak it was funny as hell. She is now known as a Mochlod Slayer and everyone gets a real kick out of that. The incident does however place a huge flag on a few problems with Stone Sphere that need to be looked at-<ol><li>Stone Sphere or any of the intercept lines should never intercept damage for pets, swarm or otherwise.</li><li>Stone Sphere and any other intercept abilty should mitigate damage using our mitigation or resists for whatever damage type is coming in.</li><li>Stone Sphere should never intercept spells cast by other players <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></li></ol><div></div><p>Message Edited by mochlod on <span class=date_text>05-01-2006</span> <span class=time_text>12:29 PM</span>

Ouch man.....you know that had to hurt. I have seen quite a few Guardians complaining about the intercept line not using the Guardian's mitigation to mitigate incoming damage. Is this right? If so, I can see where they need to change that. As far as the spell, did you get a screenshot <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> <div></div>

<DIV>There is NO mitigation check at all on any protection line skills. Some of them let us take a reduced amount of damage but I think the best one is something like 80%. Basically, the best mitigation we can ever get using a protection spell is 20%. Our defining ability as a Guardian is to get killed in one hit when protecting others.</DIV>

I had my Heat resist up to around 12k and should have been able to mitigate around close to 23,900 points of that attack, only taking around 5900 points of heat damage. However the spell i intercepted wasnt intended to be hostile to me, it was supposed to give me some health and power... dont think it worked out too well. And yeah, i got a nice screenshot of the log. I wish i had been recording because my reaction on ts was probably hilarious. It's not often that im one shotted like that.</div>

HEHE, ya this has happened to me twice now. I cringe in fear when I have a conjurer in group, tempted to remove stone sphere from my hotbar. Fight is going fine, I get a lil low on health maybe so I'll pop SS so the healer can catch up and BAM... dead becuase the conj. decided to sac pet. I don't understand why pets are protected with the intervene lines, but it's a real pain when our "defining" line becomes even more useless. I basically just look at my intercepts in my hotbar and wish they were something else while my CA's our cooling down nowadays.<div></div>

I actually didn't know that the no-mitigation part of this spell also effected spell damage but I guess it makes sense.

I reported this to one of the rednames and got the following in response....." Intercepting damage (in general) is getting looked at after the control changes."Now the "in general" statement raises my eyebrow a little bit but at least we know they're going to be looking at our intercept abilities. Hopefully we'll be able to use them without killing ourselves <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /><div></div>

Oh yea and dont ever use that skill if your group members are taking aoe, or say your prayers (i've seen guardians get killed in a split second cuz of that)! You should try communicating with your fellow guild mates before casting such skills (im sure you do now after that incident but i truely think something like this need not be changed).Oh and btw the fact that conj can kill there pet is a good thing, if done at a correct time, it can activate stuff like Death March for short period of immunity (ect..) at a specific time.Intercept skills are pretty dumb yea, since it makes you take unmitigated damage... :/<div></div><p>Message Edited by pawnipt on <span class=date_text>05-08-2006</span> <span class=time_text>07:26 AM</span>
