Tactical use of stances when soloing

Based on my experience and Ladicav's analysis these are my thoughts on tactics when soloing.Offensive stance with DW or 2H gives you the best chance for winning a fight, and the best chance of doing so before an add turns up.The choice of DW or 2H depends I think on the weapons you have to choose from.Defensive stance with shield gives you the best chance of surviving long enough to run away.The best to use when soloing depends on whether you want to try to win or survive. Your judgement of whether you can win a particular combat is important. If you think yu can win go for offensive,no shield. If you think you are going to lose go defensive with shield and run (probably run first).An intermediate position might be useful if you are exploring and don't know what you might face, but once you know whether you are likely to win or lose you should switch to one of the above.I tend to use offensive stance with one DW weapon and a shield in areas I consider potentially dangerous. So I only have to swap the shield out to go on the offensive, or change stance stance to go defensive.  I don't have to do both at once.Does anyone have any other suggestions for tactics when soloing with a guardian?<div></div>

<div></div><div></div><p>I solo'd alot after LU13 and i would say 100% Offensive.  If you cannot win the fight solo , no need to be in defensive mode ,  just run away. </p><p>Being in offensive means that the mobs will go down quicker and you actually end up with better health / power after the fight  (I have found).</p><p>I have heard that the weapons make a good difference too , unfortunately i never got any cobalt weapons before i quit , so i used to DW with 2 heritage weapons.</p><p>I am sure i would have been more effective with cobalt DW's.</p><p>Also there is alot of mention about adept 3 / master CA's  - would have been nice , but i had no money after buying all my cobalt armour , so mine were all adept 1 and app 4.</p><p>Main advice - BUY and USE Potions.</p><p>(NB  my leaving grace was to solo a ^^^ Green heroic - a giant in the sinking sands , and i beat him <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> - with loads of potions)   Monk killed green heroic ^^^ for fun though , without any potions.)</p><p>Message Edited by Drulak on <span class="date_text">01-20-2006</span><span class="time_text">12:16 PM</span></p>

<div></div>You maybe right , i haven't noticed , since i am always in offensive stance -  But isn't mitigation 180 degrees in front anyway ?? so if running its irrelevent . Although they may have changed that .

<div></div>i always use my offensive stance for solo, with a nice legendary 2H that gives me +17 STR (so offensive I get +87 STR), and I actually Solo ok.  Tonight I am going to try DW and put on my parser and see how it stacks up against the Leg 2H.  I think DW looks cool too.Oh, and just to add.  I hate using the B word (Bruiser), but I discovered that my Bruiser was the first toon I had played (and i have 10) where the offensive stance gave me a noticable advantage.  I mean the Fiery Fists stance with the proc (with a weapon).  I finish fights with green, or at the most yellow, where in Def i am yellow/Orange.  It was truely a noticeable effect.  Both my Pally and my Zerker arent really that noticeable in Def/Off, not as glaring as the bruiser was.
