<P>I suppose since you are doing the " Top Ten " .. these were somewhere on your list ..</P> <P>.....</P> <P>"Mentor Mentality": Just because you are a lvl 70 with fabled doesn't mean you can mentor down to lvl 40 and solo that Epic *3 lvl 45 mob.</P> <P>"Regular Brackets verses Fancy Brackets" (aka Solo Orange verses Heroic Orange) : "But, we've BEEN killing Oranges! .... "</P> <P>Then there is "Let's follow the Puller and Pull this OTHER heroic mob(s)"</P> <P>Or .. "But, " I " am the tank! I am a lvl 51 Monk .. he is just a lvl 58 Pally!" </P> <P>Or .. "My Job is to damage the mob! Even if it means I start casting/shooting arrows/etc before It has even said "HI" to the tank!"</P> <P>*sigh* .. that was mostly (1) group last weekend. </P>

My first death ever was to ... the forge. They've fixed the bug with reaction arts that caused folks making T1 sconces to die fiery molten deaths because they couldn't counter events when making metal plates, but I've got a long, long memory.Let's not forget things like ... trying to harvest a heroic badger for ore in EL and other fun stuff.Other than that, though, yes, I'll admit to having died to <i>at least </i>5 of your top ten. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /><div></div>

<P>Okay, here's my first death ever in a game. I played a Wood Elf Druid in EQ1 (revived her for EQ2), within the first FIVE minutes I was in the game I had fallen off a ramp in Kelethin and died.</P> <P>Or here in EQ2, my druid apparently does NOT know how to safely climb up and down trees!! Had 3 deaths in a row from falling off a tree the other day.</P>

Had a variation of the falling damage on the other day. Was playing my fae paladin, and had just called back to Kelethin. I ran off the edge of the platform, expecting to float down like I always do.... except that I was on my Holy Steed. No glide when you are on a horse. I bet the hole in the turf looked like a pegasus had just crashed there.<div></div>

My favorite, and I do this just often enough to be really embarassing...Log in, decide I don't want to craft, jump on my horse and head out to do an Adventure writ just for variety. Pull, engage... SPLAT![Removed for Content]?Oh. I'm still in my no-stats crafting work clothes....<div></div>

<P>oh here we go. i decide to leave my lvl 70 fury, and play my lvl 42 bruiser. nothing to do. but ... oh wait.. guildies working on dwarven work boots..... so in my desire to have something to do, sure i'll come mentor and have some fun. <img src="/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> . kill kill kill , slaughter slaughter slaughter, after all we all have level 70 mains, we've done this routine, blah blah blah, two healers, shaman and druid, dps, etcs. so we get to the part of getting the brew in blackburrow. and on our little trek, while yes im mentored, we are all still high enough that these lowly bb gnolls are grey, pfft.... waste of time.... we go straight back to hook off the drop into the water for our swim to the brewery..... but wait.... someone yelled about water at the bottom.... and the shaman saves the day by casting his group EB spell.... and everyone enjoyes the deep swan dive into the pool of water of this long drop and splashes happily to their death.... amid cries of "[Removed for Content]???" and "OMG!!!" .... the little bruiser with 5 hps left (yes lets hear it for safefall).. while laughing histerically, explains to the rest of the group that shaman EB makes you sink to the bottom of the water like a rock..... congratulations.... the shaman just wiped the group...... <continued histerical laughter>... and when the response comes of "HTH did you live?" i proudly exclaim.... SAFEFALL!!</P> <P>:smileyvery-happy:</P>

<DIV>This death actually occured a few years back when I decided to dabble around with my boyfriends (now husband) toon in EQ I. I'd seen him running around killing stuff and chit chatting. The only thing I knew about the game was from what I'd seen him do. Use the arrow keys to move around and you type :say or :m whatsyourface to talk to someone.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'd never played before, I just watched him with his toon for hours. He would get new gear and show me how cool it looked. Hours and hours, and hours of playing to equip his toon exactly the way he wanted. He was very proud of her (I think all guys play girl toons so they can have eye candy to look at as they run around). I thought it might be fun to try it out since he was asleep and I was bored. So here's what happened.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I log on and his toon was in a place with lava and goblins everywhere (I had zero clue what zone I was in, or where anything in this game was) . I was being very careful slowly going around corners to see if there were scary mobs near (since I didn't know how to play his toon, no clue what spell did what.). Just want to take a look around...Slowly moving extremely careful, oh my God I am soooo tense...phew the mobs at the front are grey...cool. I see a huge pool of lava to the left of the stairs I need to go down. Slow, slow...crap the stairs are steep and I don't know what I'm doing.. Step, step..ack! I fell off the stairs..I'm in the lava...I'm burning..holy crap!!! I'm burning..I have burned to death. Loading....... [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn]??</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Next thing I know is I am in a town. I am not wearing any of the gear.. Holy crap, I don't know what to do.. I don't know where to go.. There's a timer on the corpse. I have no idea how long until the corpse disappears along with all of the gear.. he is gonna be sooo [Removed for Content] if I lose everything.. I can't let him know I've done this stupid thing...Why oh why didn't I start a new toon! I am so stupid... There are people around me. Let me see if they can help me.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I message a person passing by me....Hi, can you please please help me? I logged on my boyfriends toon and I died and have no idea of where I died at or how to get there. I know there was a lot of lava and a lot of goblins. He is going to kill me. Any idea of what i need to do? .....No response... I message it again to another person...God I hope I'm atleast doing the message right.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Person messages me back!!!!! </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Kind Player: Did you go through Nek Forest they respond. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Me: Umm..I really don't know..I just logged on at a place with a lot of lava and goblins. I don't know where Nek Forest is. I just know I fell down some stairs into some lava and my boyfriend is going to kill me. I don't know where anything is.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Kind Player: I think you were in LavaStorm in SolEye or SolB.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Me: Do you know how to get there? I really really have no idea where I even am right now. I've never turned his character on before.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Kind Player: I know how to get you there. Want me to show you?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Me: OMG that would be so awesome. I love you sooo much. If you can get me to the zone in places of those places you said in lavastorm then I'm sure I can tell which one I was in from the entrance. (Yeah, I know -- I am truly clueless - zone in place of those places, not a typo..had no clue of what to call them.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Kind Player: Ok follow me.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Victory? A 20 minute run we arrive at the correct location. SolEye. I zone in stepping over corpses of other players and head to the stairs. I tab all through the lava trying to find my corpse and it is nowhere to be found. I creep around super super super slow..no body..omg what am i gonna do? I prepare my self for what must come next. I am going to have to wake him up and let him know what I did. I cant find the body and if it doesn't get found all of his gear will poof. I head back up to the zone in to camp out. I click the floor cluttered with corpses of other players. One by one..not me..Wait! There I am!! My corpse is at the zone in! Yay!</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I quickly loot the corpse and no one will ever have to know. =) </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I did tell him what happened. He wasn't mad. He even gave the person who helped me some gear for his toon. So it was my most horrific death ever. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Next time I logged on, I started a new toon for myself.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

Ah, confessions!I have a mental block about the Zek elevator shaft.. every char I've gotten to Zek seems to have to take that loooong plunge. However, the fall down the Eye of Anuk was better. I was able to take a deep breath halfway down and scream twice. Most embarrassing was running to the mailbox in East Freeport, falling off into the harbor, and somehow getting stuck in stuff and drowning. (this is why I WALK in EFP, no, I'm not overburdoned, Im not roleplaying, I am sick and tired of swimming).Metal chest death is also interesting.. specially since it used to list that on Station Players.Last Killed By.. The Treasure Chest of whatever mob.

Nearly my most embarrising death - getting distracted when running to the bell in Willow Wood, going off the end of the pier and not noticing until I start taking damage from drowning, then being unable to get out of the water quickly enough. Most embarrasing - on a run to Naggy with some high levels to show/clear the way - misjudging that jump down near the end - falling past the path on which most of the group are standing, withing touching distance - the rest watching from the top - everyhting seeming to happen in slow-mo - going into the lava. Then I had to ask for help to get back down. <div></div>

<DIV>I am probably not the first person who received their first death by drowning. I do find it notable, however, that for about the first week I played the game I died every time I went underwater. It wasnt that I didn't know about the whole breath thing, I just couldn't seem to get myself to surface. I didnt realize that you had to zoom into first person view and head to the top, I was always playing with my camera zoomed out. This allowed me to get close to the top but not enough to breathe. I can only imagine people watching me floating at the top of the water with my head still buried under the surface frantically flapping around trying to escape. Did it about 5 times, and got extremely frustrated swearing my head off about my character's inability to get his [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] head out of the water. Luckily, that was over a year ago, and I had forgot about it until reading this thread...thanks for the lovely reminder.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Stearic</DIV> <DIV>70 Swashy - Blackburrow Server</DIV>
