Probably the last one of the finalists I'd have picked but I'm sure she'll still do a fine job. (still thinks they made a mistake tho, heh)

Yup stupid contest, should have only let eq2 players enter the game. Out of the finalist the only one to play eq2 should have won hands down. The entire contest was just "who could ever get the most friends to register and vote" since anyone could register for a station account. Should have only been eq2 players, and eq2 players voting.

Got to say I am very suprised. I dont recognize any of those faces as being the top 6 or so ladies when the initial voting was done.

Can't say I am not extremely disappointed that one of the many EQ 2 playing ladies that were in the top 10 did not even make it into the final 6 or win. Seems rather odd to me not to mention a bad PR move.

I know most if not all players wanted a model who played EQ 2, even if she was not as 'proffesional' looking as these swimsuit bunnies you chose. At least we would know the Antonia Model would be a person like the rest of us, someone who loved the game.

Ironically, in the interviews that were posted they ALL said they played the game. TN was honest about that she does not play much, and only has two low level characters, but at least she know what class they were though. I feel most of the others were blowing smoke.

I am very curious about how the judging worked for the "finalists". I see no mention of it anywhere. With all the upcoming changes to EQ2 this is just about as meaningless as peoples uproar about getting a monkey.... but... curiosity is what it is.

I think out of the finalists, the winner was the best choice.

If you honestly thought they would pick a real player over someone better looking you were kidding yourself. Stuff is in it to make money. Majority of people buying it probably dont even know what EQ2 is much less care. I'd rather it be someone attractive that doesnt play than someone kind of fugly and does (Sry, TN wasnt that great looking even though she had the outfit) that the world sees that is unframiliar with the game. Thus giving game more appeal and thoughts like "gee wiz may wanna look into that game"...If most of the real players (TN included) had been on cover and I didnt know game, I'd probably think, "Wow, thats best they could do?"

Message Edited by MaltanisKolbair on 08-15-2005 12:20 PM

I sure as hell wouldn't follow a queen who dressed in S&M gear.

I also think Teresa Noreen is far more attractive, not to mention the most important part: looking like Antonia. Anna Wainscott looks extremely, well, normal. Really bad call, guys. And if anyone thinks that any woman who is even slightly attractive doesn't end up looking like a bombshell on the cover of a magazine, then they have no idea what goes into photo shoots and the editing of said photos.

By the way, I'm complaining because I'm sick and tired of the borderline (is it borderline any more?) [Removed for Content] to titillate 14 year old boys in computer games, and I'm sick of looking at characters who have severe back problems because of their humongous mutant breasts, and I'm sick of armor that acts like spandex as soon as it's placed on a female toon. Adult women have a lot more money than 14 year old boys. Wake up and smell it.

Grats to the hottie for the win. I wonder why people are upset about gamer girls losing when they look nothing like Antonia. Just because you play the game and made a costume doesn't mean you actually look like her. The contest was open to anyone and is sponsored by a popular Men's magazine, men like to see hottie's and read the funnies on the can. Sorry to be so bold but that is the way it is. I commend everyone for trying though.

I mean where in the game can Antonia be seen wearing the outfit that Anna has on in that picture? This is a really disapointing outcome. Mens magazines are usually garbage with their reader base being the average large browed fatty "who talks like dis all da time" and listens to 50 Cents or whatever crap these people like now, I just cant see these people interested in EQII. I was also given the impression that WE were going to decide, not SOE or some panel of [Removed for Content] mongering judges or whoever did it. I dont want Anna to represent a game that I enjoy playing on a daily bases when she probably didnt even hear of it until she entered the contest. Teresa deserved the prize. Someone dropped the ball.
Yeah T.N should have won. In a sense, she did win. She won in the eyes of so many EQ players.

And I'm all for a contest to bring the men in the spotlight. I don't care if its an Overlord look a like, or a Barbarian, or whatever. There will requirements of course, must have 6 pack abs, tight behind, bulging muscles EVERYWHERE!!! Must look like Playgirl model material. (Only fair to us girls after the Playboy look a like models from this contest). We have visions of the perfectly built man, same as men have visions for perfectly built woman.

But alas, sadly this contest will never be. Men don't like the tables being turned, and its mainly men behind this. But it would be great if they gave a little something like this to the female gamers.

TN is a good looking model. player or not has nothing to do with it. but truely TN is not a better looking model than the winner. the winner once in outfit will look much more like AB then TN does. for what it's worth TN did have my vote, but honestly folks this was a MODELING contract. the top model will win, and IMO did. let me repeat it has zip to do with the game. and i hope the send the winner off to GenCon so i can get some pictures. :smileyvery-happy: i never fail to take a few shots of the sony booth babe.

This is so galling to me.. There are so many more things to give a darn (expletive not edited by faarbot) about now than this stupid contest. Who Cares? Well.. from the start I admired the effort that TN went to in her pictures. After seeing this, I was bummed ( by previous posts ) that she placed third.. After seeing that she posted on this thread, I went back and read her previous posts and now I see it as something more. I like Sony...I own quite a few pieces of Sony electronics.. I have a Sony Rewards Credit Card.. I have three accounts on their new game.. and played their older one from before they were boss, overall I have been very pleased at the results of my patronage. Lately; however, some odd and unpopular decisions have been made regarding EQ2. This seems to be so piddling and unrelated but... to me speaks of lack of customer awareness. Now.. we are not all revenge of the nerds people, but some of us are, and frankly not many of us have a woman runnin around the house that makes the neighbor kids dream about being a grown up. Some do.. not all. SOE had an opportuinity to unnerdify (word? prob not) online games, in a partnership with a magazine that caters to men. They had a chance to have a Gamer.. who is also very attractive, decided to become an interactive member of the online community, is a former member of the armed forces and obviosly cares about this contest. They passed that up.. That just seems like a dumb business move. Stuff Magazine pulling the strings? Please... if they got into an arrangement with a puffed up celebrity skin rag where they could be pushed around, someone should be fired. To Me, this is just symptomatic of leadership not being on the ball. So... Ok.. I just re-read this and it is a rambling mess.

I guess my point was, I think SOE had a great opportuinity to get someone who looked the part, at least knows the game a little.. and has shown themselves to be both personable and supportive of the game as a whole. Opportuinity lost. This was not just a modeling thing. It IS a PR thing. Getting the "hottest" ( and I would debate that one) person doesn't make the best Public Relations.

I am disappointed that Teresa didn't win as well but it doesn't surprise me. Looking at the pics of the 5 finalists, it's obvious why they were chosen ( and it wasn't for their likeness to AB). There is no way the first runner up looks anything more like AB than Teresa does. It would have been nice to have an actual gamer represent one of the main characters in the game.

It doesn't matter really, Teresa, your still the Queen to most of us gamers. Good luck in your future career. I hope this experience opens up many doors of opportunity for you in the near future.

Dae

Personally I always thought that AB was based on Rebecca Romijn. This is most evident on the retail box image of her.

Again, if you dont think Stuff had final say your insane. Magizine comes up with idea "Men play games, EQ2 is pretty popular, lets collaborate." But ultimatly they want to get mainstream people to buy, thus a hot model regardless of what EQ2 fanboys want.

Lastly, no one can judge until they see pics of the competiton and all the finalists in the get up (if that will happen who knows). But, Cant judge the winner until you see her in the costume...You might like it

Message Edited by MaltanisKolbair on 08-16-2005 07:42 AM

I also have a question, how long does it take you to get to level 6 and level 4? I'm not saying that Teresa is lying about playing the game, I'm just wondering when she started playing? Was she playing before the contest, or did she enter after the competition started? A little research leads me to believe she started after the competition started. The competition started around May 17, and she named two characters in one of her interviews, one was started on May 24, and the other on July 20. So how is she any different than the other contestants that most likely started a character after they entered the competition? Most people here wanted a "player" to win, but she only started playing after the competition started, so in my mind she wasn't really a player. I think it was a great strategy she had, and again Teresa seems to be really cool and HOT. Still, the woman that looked the most like AB to me won, and I'm happy for her.

1. Anna looks like Antonia. Does she look more like Antonia than the other contestants? Judgement call. 2. Anybody with the guts to enter the contest is a winner in my book. 3. If she says she plays the game, I'm willing to take her word for it, unless somebody has better evidence to the contrary than unsupported innuendos. 4. Yes, professional and semi-professional models sometimes play roleplaying games. Some are quite good at it. I remember another photo contest in another game where a woman's feelings were seriously hurt because nobody believed that anybody who looked as fantastic as she did could be taken seriously as a gamer. 5. People who don't care about other people's feelings are a serious waste of oxygen. 6. There is no 6.

The only issue I take are with those saying TN didn't have the looks to make the grade. She is a lovely woman - as they all were - and if she were walking down my street, I'd be bumping into street-signs and tripping over little old ladies just to get a second look... so would most of my neighbors. It'd probably be a regular traffic jam out there.

Congrats to the winner!!! While my wife and I were pulling for TN all the way I think Anna was our second choice. TN, I think looks every bit Antonia Bayle but so could Anna with a bit of well applied makeup. Despite what anyone might say I think TN had a deeper purpose to competing but it's all water under the bridge. Good luck Anna.

I found out about the contest from a friend Chris at dashpc.com and he told me I looked just like Antonia and should enter the contest. As I have been a fantasy addict for many years I looked into the game and started playing (after costly upgrades to my computer that is). To set the record straight, D&D is a paper RPG game and games like EverQuest 2 are similiar in many ways, just because I just started playing THIS game doesn't mean I am not worthy of being called a "gamer". I have been playing RPGs since 1992... After I read and learned more about Antonia and realized a PMOY was in first place, I had to enter. I felt someone who loved RPGs and someone who could relate to people with the same interests should be in the contest. So that the person who won could be more than just a pretty face. I really was concerned that a girl would win that didn't truely care about the fan base and wouldn't understand WHY they play the game.

After all is said and done I just have to say I would be Teresa's slave and would be willing to fly from Knoxville to wherever she is just to serve her. Also, a quest for Lucan contest could not be taken seriously, it would have to be for comical entertainment only. Men arent as reserved as women and most of us arent ashamed to get in front of a camera, it doesnt matter if a man is 300 pounds and doesnt look anything like Lucan, he WILL take a picutre of himself posing in a suit of armor, thats just how men are. So a Lucan contest would be fun but I wouldnt suggest serious prizes, maybe something like a forum title or in game item since a contest like that would have to be just for fun and would probably boil down to "who made us laugh more by being the biggest idiot", a contest I could win hands down.

Regardless of who should have won (in my opinion it was Teresa) we now have a winner and we'll have to accept that. Teresa should know that many of us supported her and voted for her in the contest. If it were up to the EQ2 community she would have won, but unfortunately it was not. Did any of you see or hear her on G4/Tech TV, while she might be nice to look at, when she was asked game questions or character question she came off looking pretty stupid, and i'm not saying this to be rude or mean, she just kind of gave blank looks and was trying to get out of there as fast as she could, you could see how uncomfortable she really was. I would have figured they would have schooled her a bit on the game and background of the the character, since they were parading her on TV LOL.
Message Edited by ironman2000 on 01-02-2006 09:03 AM
