Greetings everyone. I would just like to take the oppertunity to tell you about a small program I have put together to help all the crafters out there. I'ts called EQ2 Crafter's Tool and its not a macro/bot program so all you cheaters out there, stop reading right now :smileywink: Anyhow, what it does is something like this... Say you as an armorer want to build 10 sets of Carbonite Chainmail Coifs, just put that in the program and it will calculate how many components you have to build, and how many resources you need and how much it will cost you to build these items. The actual program is based on the "same" book-system as in-game so you actually create a new book and add the proper recipes to that book within the program. As you probably already understand I have not sat down and added these books for you as I am an armorer and I have only added some of the books I own on that character so for this program to be more powerful/useful for others you can actually share your own books that you have created and get credits for that in the program offcourse :smileyvery-happy: Read all about that on the, ehem, very temp. site :smileyhappy: Another feature is that it will read your saleslog so you can see what you've sold, for how much etc etc... Anyway, if you'd like to try it out, here's the link Also, this program have not even reached version 1.0 its just on it's 10th revision so there bound to be bugs and if you find any, or decide to share a book, send me an email at [email protected] Hope you find it useful //Akotha

Looks very interesting.

I actually considered making something like this, but your program looks great and I see no reason why it should be made twice. I have downloaded it and installed it and I will be happy to test it and add new books.

Slick idea. A couple of feature requests: (a) Once it's figured out what materials are needed, can it go to the broker and watch it and buy them all under a set price until it has everything it needs? Once it has all it needs, can it send me a text message to tell me it's time to craft? (b) If you can't send a text message, can it go to the forge/stove/whatever and just go ahead and start making everything for me? Then once it has finished crafting everything, can it send me an e-mail at work? (c) If it can't do that, can it just go up and put everything for sale on my merchant in my room and let me know when it's all been sold? (d) If it can't me know when it's done selling, can it just go back to step (a) and repeat? Hehe, just kidding. Pretty slick project though. (Sorry, feeling frosty this morning since my cable modem has been out for 2 days)

Just a suggestion... take those [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] DLLs out of your installer. Whatever you overwrote broke several of my applications due to version mismatches since it overwrote some of my DLLs. It worked fine on my XP system, but still, adding your own DDLs to any C:Windows type path is absolutely *not* acceptable coding practices. They will run perfectly fine out of your application directory where they belong. Now the rant is over.. neat idea. Will play with it later. Sincerely, A Professional MFC app developer

Didn't see that as an option... woops! Thanks for the tip. Thanks for the list, too. I'm fairly certain there is a way to make installshield auto-detect those DLLs, but it has been a while since I used IS. Might not be obvious/easy to push into it, though.

I found the application to be a bit difficult to understand. Maybe I am just a bit dense, but if you want a lot of people to be able to use the program I think you will have to put up some instructions on what you are suppose to do.

I'm currently working on a webhelp for the program that will cover most of the "first time using" topics, not sure when It will be released though as it's kinda boring doing any help-file things and I also like playing eq2

Now, I may be wrong, but just from using it myself, all the data is player entered. Recipie books are all created by the players who have taken the time to fill in the appropriate info etc. Resource prices are all player entered as well, you can adjust them yourself to match your server. Other things that are at a fixed cost, like fuel, could obviously be recorded within the program without any sort of "hacking". This program run completly indipendantly from EQ2 as far as I can tell. I mean it must if you can run it without actually starting EQ right? Its just a harmless paper saver and data compiler, and a very useful one at that I hope this answers some of your questions and rids you of some of your concerns. doh
07-07-2005, 01:54 PM

Yup, it as Myrdden says, this program is just a pen and paper saver. All data is entered manually within the program by users willing to contribute.

So you would not get a tell from a GM telling you're banned or anything like that for using eq2ct

When I installed this program (without the system files) it wouldn't run, saying that a system file was missing. Then I modified the program using the installer, and installed the system files. It ran but tried to start up my webcam several times before running the crafters tool itself. Now I keep getting errors, no matter what I do, be it creating new recipes, or even just starting up the program. Nice idea but needs a LOT of work. And please try and fix it so that it stops trying to configure my webcam every time I run the program.

Message Edited by G3MM4 on 02-19-200608:36 PM

Are you actually having problems? If not, I would disregard that post. If the author used installshield, then it should check for DLL versions, so you should be ok. What the other person was referring to is the fact that he is actually a developer, and was apparently using different versions of the DLLs that this application uses, so ran into a problem. I wouldn't think that this would be a problem for you.
