Back when it was announced that the Ratonga would be welcomed into Qeynos, My Ratonga, Bellacouste decided that they'd need a nice, welcoming place to live. With this in mind I went to work building a small Ratonga themed district. It was mostly done months ago but a combo of real life stuff and not a little bit of procrastination on finishing touches extended the time of the project quite a bit, but I'm proud to say that it is now open. I'm playing with the idea of building a larger district on the Tenebrouse Tangle Island house, but I'll see how that goes.

The hardest part of it was the ceiling tiles, but once I remembered I had the Layout editor it went perfectly. The cloudy tiles were the only things I used the editor on in this house.

If you would like to visit here is the address:

Bellacouste

Everfrost Summer Home, South Qeynos

Everfrost Server

It is also posted on the Leaderboards as 'Qeynos Ratonga District (Tonga Town)' in the Large Housing catagory.

I tried to pepper the place with Ratonga Lore and I hope I got everything correct.

This is the view as you enter.

Cragmure Square as well as the welcome sign.

This is the signpost in the middle of the square.

To the right of the enterance is one of the shops. The cafe downstairs (Bella's shop) as well as Rothgut's Apothocary. court.

Now, about that suspicious tent over there...

I had my dad test this secret passage with his largest ogre character and he passed through with little problems. If you get stuck on something, just back up and approach at a different angle and you should be able to get through just fine.

I get the idea from 'The History of Ratonga' book that they might worship Belaska. I'm not entirely sure, but I kinda like the idea as far as my Ratonga go, so I wanted to put that in the house. If you've not done the History book for the Ratonga, here is the excerpt that mentions Belaska.

"In the darkness, the Ancient of ratonga whom we call Belaska was pursued by her enemies and they caught her. She kept her fur combed and clean and slipped from their grasp, but they clung to her and would not let go. She found a small tunnel and fled into it. Still her enemies grasped at her, pulling and pulling as Belaska twisted and clung to the sides of the tunnel. She was stronger than her enemy and pulled herself free, but her enemies' hands had stripped the luxurious fur from her tail. And that is why the ratonga tail has but fine silken hairs and not fur. Run combs of ivory and bone through your fur often and you will live long."

One of the other books mentions the Ratonga ceremony 'The Dance of the Ancient', so I wanted the temple to have enough room in the middle for dancing, even if it's a small number of children. ((If you've not done that quest, you can read the story here.))

And now that I've put the book excerpts in, I realise that I've misspelled 'Belaska' on the sign. >.<

There isn't any Ratonga statues or anything I could use, so I settled on sinking a dark statue of Errolisi into the alter to make it look short. I wanted to use the frosted one, but it was too obviously a human, while the darkness of the evil side version of the statue hides some of the features.

Well, that's the Ratonga District!

Feel free to stop by even if you're not a 'Tonga and visit.

Happy Hunting!

-Bellacouste

oh wow ... wicked and so neat.... its fabulouse realy cool...i cant make head nor tail of where it is... is it a break out ?... no matter its great well done ...

now i know its a summer home it makes it more impressive i love to see places that are one thing turned in to something intirely different xx

This is so neat! There's an incredible amount of creativity here...I love it.

01-11-2012, 11:33 PM

That looks incredibly impressive, a level of skilled work and dedication that isn't seen too often.

I have a spare character slot just for special things like this. Time to roll me a Ratonga on your server and come and see and vote for it in person.

Kudos.

01-11-2012, 11:57 PM

I had to show this to my hubby and he agreed that it was simply incredible! Even more jaw-dropping is the fact that it's an Everfrost Summer Home (or "Cubehouse" as he calls it ) where the max potential item count is only 700. Kudos to you for exceptional work! If Meeba didn't already live in the Concordium tower (along with 15 or so other residences) she'd be moving in too!

01-12-2012, 01:19 AM

This is brilliant. There's no trace at all of the original house. It feels perfect for a ratonga, too. The narrow spaces and streets crowded with merchant's tents seem very rat-like. I love how each apartment, shop and even tent shows the personality of the ratonga who owns it.

01-12-2012, 02:30 AM

Thank you all very kindly.

It's not a break out, I just hid the house to make it look like it. There is one corner above the library where you can see the Everfrost Summer Home wall, but I didn't notice it until I had published it and had filled the item count. I rather like doing that with the Everfrost house, it's a good, large canvas that I find fun to play around with.

I'm going to build a larger Tonga Town in the TT Island house, but I think I'll wait until the building blocks that Domino said were making their way to the city festivals and recipe books are in. It'll be much easier then.

01-12-2012, 04:54 AM
Wow, this is very impressive. I just love the idea of the little apartments!! Well done!

01-12-2012, 07:52 AM

Very impressive! Love it!

01-12-2012, 08:45 AM

You put all this in an Everfrost Summer home I am totally amazed! And sooo much love in this project. All the lore about the ratongas is showing you really love your cute little mouse Now add onto the wish list a Ratonga statue!

01-12-2012, 03:50 PM

Nothing I like more than a village, except maybe a mouse sized one) Very well done, creative and well executed!

Kudos,

Cloudrat

01-12-2012, 06:20 PM

I'd really love some artwork and statuary of the non-human races. I know there are some iskar statues and the old style erudite, but some stuff for the other races to decorate their houses with would be awesome. Maybe race themed sets like the armor.

01-12-2012, 07:43 PM

I can't believe you've managed to fit so much into an Everfrost Summer Home item count! The detail in this is fantastic. I love all the separate little apartments and the construction of the whole area, the atmosphere is great and yes, the only thing missing is that you can't help but feel it should have lots of 'tonga scurrying around busily in their daily business. I love the concept of the secret tunnel from the tent, and the signpost dismissing it as being of any interest.

All in all, it's just great. I'm definitely going to need to pop over to EF and look at this for real!

01-12-2012, 08:23 PM

If there is ever a ratonga district made in Qeynos then it should be like this!

It is just perfect for a ratonga and my monk would move in a heartbeat to it just so he can live among his people again.

Oh, and another +1 for the ratonga statue! The bestest race evah needs some statues so all can bask in their coolness!

this is very cool, let beg the dev team to make few variations of ratonga plushies to make village look busy.

01-13-2012, 01:30 PM

Wow, this is really awesome! I love that you had signage throughout, I think it really adds to the atmosphere when you know exactly who/what something is designed for. Your details are are great, love it all

01-13-2012, 03:09 PM

How wonderful! Amazing how you managed all that with the layout and item count in that home.

Beautiful work

This is super cute and very well executed! Ratongas are just so adorable.

Adorable! Very well detailed.
