after the first building blocks were put in game i decided to quit playing EQ2, but i thought mabye i after i have a nice long break to do all the things i've been wanting to do, they will have fixed this building block issue, and i'll come back. but after reading here today that they've added even more building blocks for SC... well i don't think they'll be "fixing" this issue. i've noticed a particular trend happening with SOE for awhile now, and this path are taking... well i have finally lost faith. i've cancelled my subscription, and i will not be coming back no matter what they do. i've been playing since right after launch and to be honest it's a bit painful to let go but i must move on. real life adventure awaits! so...

thank you to all my fellow decorators who have been so supportative of The Portal Point. thank you for providing me with so much inspiriation and ideas and information. i have LOVED touring all your homes and the decorating community is easily the best MMO community i have ever been a part of. so thank you all!! GIANT HUGS ALL AROUND.

I don't know what you think.. but it seems like very poor form after the outrage over the last sets. Perhaps they should have put some recipes in game before releasing any more SC sets? Y'know.. to appease the angry crafters?

Well, this was as big a surprise to me as it was to you; these building blocks had been made previously, but it was a mistake they were listed on the marketplace this week. Sorry for the lack of announcement in this week's marketplace article, we do try to call everything out that's released and this wasn't intended.

These two sets do indeed match some of the City Festival colours. We won't remove them from the marketplace since they've been listed for sale already, but you'll see these sets start showing up also during the in-game city festivals as they come around, they'll be available in-game like other city festival rewards.

I posted before Christmas to confirm that carpenters will indeed be getting building block sets; this is still the case, and the art has already been created (I've seen it!) for sets to match most of the the existing tile recipes that carpenters currently get from the "essentials" recipe books. When you list them out though, that's a lot of items: 9 new shapes for each of these sets:

adamantine

ash

briarwood

elm

fulginate

maple

mossy briarwood

redwood

sandalwood

sumac

teak

11 sets x 9 items = 99 house items to create, and 99 recipes to make them. As much as I know the carpenters are looking forward to these, it does take a little time to create and test this many items and recipes so it's not something we can push out tomorrow, nice as it would be. Rest assured that they are on the way, and once they are available we'll let you know.

Apologies for the mix up with these new sets, and I hope this post clears things up a bit!

That post was nothing more than the proverbial carrot, no timeframe only they will let us know when it gets closer, which means it is noit as close as eq2players was to being a week away after AoD launched, they let us know and have not even bothered to mention it since over 1 month later a week has not arrived.

They finally got fed up, and I can't say that I blame them, it is happening to others as well.

actualy its only 9 items not 99... the 9 items are all the same in all the sets except with a different skin... talking about the sets and shapes... wheres the window frames and the dividers with door portals and window portles in them and the TRIANGLES we have all been asking for? reguardless of them being sc or carpenter made the shapes arnt very adventurouse or what whe have asked for... yes cubes and long flat rectangles are fine the tiles we already get why not of designed them in a shape we have asked for... grrrr...! (and yes i know my soelling is a tad off on some words and im sorry for that!)

(and yes i know my soelling is a tad off on some words and im sorry for that!)

I disagree.. when you add/change a skin you get a new model with a unique identifier. I do accept the 99 objects in part as each one needs a table entry for a recipie that when completed produced the correctly identified object.

Having said that, my premise is, based on the discussions, that each object has a simple UV wrap which is replicated on all objects, and the only piece of work is to load the objects and ensure that each recipie does in fact create the correct object. (That would explain Drunder and some non-symetrical patterns not being included)

I think the 99 discrete objects is a bit of overkill.. I would actually refer to it as a 9 object set, skinned 11 times. The set is not changing in either 3d model form, nor (I would suspect) UV mapping, which must make this much faster, especially as the set of base objects already exists.

The objects are all extremely simple as well... Certainly in other game environments, I wouldn't see this as more than a 6-8 hour job for a junior designer (and if they were doing this for me and quoted me 6 - 8 hours, I would be watching very closely to see what else they were doing ). I suspect the time involved is the loading into the databases... ie the recipie books, the craftable database and the overall objects database(s) etc.

The differences between this and the SC blocks really has to be the insertion into the recipie books and the craftable database and I would guess that doesn't have a chance until a Tuesday update.. I know we have had changes to craftable objects and recipies before in hotfixes, so I wouldn't have thought we should have to wait till a main update for this. However, I guess they will roll it into test server first at any rate, and I am not sure, obviously, how EQ2 updates existing recipie tables in the character.. whether that creates, in itself a requirement to do a database look up and change by character, or whether by adding them into the appropriate tables, the recipie will be automatically picked up by those who have scribed the books. I would hope, the latter .

As to your other point, yes we've been asking for a LOT of things, but these item shapes already exists, and this response was to get objects which are currently only available for SC into the carpenter recipie books.. for NEW shapes and items, you are currently SOL.
