So with the confusion of the download of AoD pointing to the wrong, or a new directory i ended up downloading the entire game. While this is not a problem for me really (just unistalled old versions) the editor still is looking for the game in the old /sony/ directory but it isnt there now, i've uninstalled the editor and reinstalled but i'm guessing it saved something in the registery and i am not tech saavy enough to know what to do.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

If it installed to the default directory, as I suspect it did, do this:

In the editor program, go to File > Settings

On that Window, click the Find button next to EQ2LayoutsDir and navigate to C:UsersPublicSony Online EntertainmentInstalled GamesEverQuest IIsaved_house_layouts (or just copy and paste).

Click Apply.

Yah here's the thing though. When i go to settings i get this..

Unhandled exception has occurred in your application.

the directory name c:......sonyEverquest IIlogs.... etc.. is invalid.

I can't figure out how to make the editor realise that i've setup EQ2 in a new directory. And as i said, uninstalling/reinstalling didnt fix it.

I can't even get to the settings menu. It gives me the choice of continue, or quit. Continuing does nothing but get rid of the error box.

go to File - Settings and click on magnifying glass - then tell it what drive you want searched for your files. When it gets done, pull down the drop down list and find the correct place that you are now storing files - it will continue to point there now.

Sorry didnt see your post before you answered...

Have you tried just going to file - open and telling it where the files are now stored?

Go into your users directory and open Appdata. You will not be able to see the Appdata directory so you will have to type it in at the top of the explorer window. Then go into Local and delete everything in the folder "PrettyHouses". This is where the settings for the editor are stored.

If your windows username was Jesdyr and your Users folder was on C:, the path would look like this - C:UsersJesdyrAppDataLocalPrettyHouses

Glad I found this thread, I had the same problem. Maybe you should put a button or something that deletes or resets the settings for people who can't find this thread.

Also, I was thinking that maybe you could make a button or something that auto computes the tile spacing when you are just making a simple square or rectangle of tiles. I am in the process of trying to make 64 tiles at size 6 into a rectangle and having a little trouble figuring out the spacing formula. It seemed easy in the tutorial where you are only using 4 tiles, but it didn't translate well into large numbers of tiles, at least for me.

64 tiles is easy. thats an 8x8 sq or 10x6 with 4 left over.. so go less.

step 1 use the row builder to build 6 in a row

step 2 take those 6 and make them into a group

step 3 go to that group and use the replace tool to name them all 1

step 4 and beyong. select row 1 and use build row to build each row of 6, replace their name with whatever subsequent number they are... rinse and repeat til you are satisfied.

you now how them in a group and named so you know which row they are. You can do this in whatever order you like. Make 10 in a row if you like. Just make sure to have them grouped and make sure row builder is set to pull the new tile from the moving crate.
