The initial set of recipes is all gear/accessories, split up among the various TS classes. They've said that they will be adding housing type recipes for carpenters down the road, along with other recipes for other classes.

The nice thing is that the daily quest to speed up research has a chance to drop the rare items used in the recipes, so even if you don't want the recipes, it's going to be worth doing the research.

I would like the ability to ask the apprentices to make things for you. Isn't that one of the things real appretices do? It would be nice for large projects. Assign them a task to make you say 20 sumac tiles for example. Give them an hour or so and then they have them ready. This really seems like a research assistant from what I can tell so far.

yeah I'm kinda sad about how the apprentices seem to work from what I've read. It seems they're useless to people who don't run heroics or do commission crafting. If everything takes the rare heroic instance dropped materials I'll probably never make a thing from the recipes. I could have read Mum's info wrong on eq2traders but that's what I gathered from it.

All kinds of tiles and other housing stuff, every world event has new carpenter recipes....compared to the other crafters, carpenters are definitely the favorite of the devs, thanks the good PR decorating gives no doubt.

Nevertheless, i understand ur pain, a carpenter is a carpenter and not a jeweler, and im sure that new housing recipes are already in the make, for a small price for sale on SC

I'd say it's not about being spoiled, it's about having features in an expansion that suits the corresponding tradeskill. I really don't see why carpenters would make gear based on rare drops from dungeons. I was having high hopes for the tradeskill apprentice, hoping that it would allow us to create beautiful house items Apparently this is planned so wait and see...

Well, spoiled or not, clearly in the norrathian Homeshow, the focus of our crafting interests is going to be housing items, so anything not housing related by default will rank less on the itnerest scale

If there was a whole community dedicated to tailoring robes and they had their own forum and paid their monthly subscription just so they could tailor robes I'm sure they'd add a lot more robe recipes. Since house decorating is such a HUGEly popular aspect of the game and the sole reason a lot of people play eq2 it's probably why they put so many new house items for carpenters in the game. Without it they'd lose a large player base.

Although I too was disappointed initally that some of the things I was *hoping* for (like them actually making stuff for us lol) isn't coming I can also understand the frustration over what is seemingly non carpenter related items. I have a lvl 90 carp on beta and from what I can tell there are 3 earrings and a bunch of weapon effects that can be crafted at lvl 90 (also some other stuff inc food for the lower tiers)

However I would say not to look on it and be disappointed .. silver lining and all that people are going to want these (pic included of the earrings that can be made) and I am sure they will fetch a very good price which means more platzies for decorating ... also I am sure that the apprentices will in time get upgraded and changed and who knows maybe making stuff for us is something that will come in the future ... and if that doesn't cheer you up get the othmir apprentice .. and once place .. right click and select "dance with me"

I know I'm bumping a thread somewhat... but question...

How long between quest do you have to wait to pick up the next one with your apprentice. It has been over 24 hours and I still can't pick up a new quest from him/her. He just keeps telling me to come back tomorrow.

Anyone know?

Each class makes different pieces. This is from EQ2TC:

The Recipes

All crafting classes get access to researching the "greater essence" recipes at level 90 that create different appearance effects on reforged items. For level 10 recipes, you can research recipes specific to your subclass (scholar, outfitter or craftsman). For level 20-90 recipes, the class breakdown is as follows:

Alchemist - fabled rings: two tank/scout and two mage/priest ones per tier

Armorer - fabled forearm & chest: tank plate, healer plate, scout chain, and healer chain

Carpenter - fabled earrings: two tank/scout and two mage/priest ones per tier

Provisioner - 30-minute fabled food and drink with stats and special effects on them

Jeweler - fabled bracelets: two tank/scout and two mage/priest ones per tier

Sage: fabled charms: two tank/scout and two mage/priest ones per tier

Tailor: fabled forearm & chest: cloth, healer leather, brawler leather

Weaponsmith - one-handed and two-handed fabled weapons for all classes

Woodworker - fabled ranged items (pouches, bows, ranged spell items)
