Topic says it all. I logged in and was in game for about 5 seconds and got booted now i can not get back in. Did the servers go down for a fix or something? I did not see anything on the main web site about a hot fix or maint.

Someone fell alseep on the switch? Server was announcing they would go down for a scheduled update at 10AM EST but when you looked at the server status page there was nothing about 11/17/11 and when you looked for some kind of update notes there was none.. Have to love SOE's total lack of notifying the player about STEALTH changes..

Servers went down for a brief update, at 10am EST/7am PST but nothing i can see posted on forum about it, just yellow messages in game saying it was going down.

Tnx for the info all. After being gone for 6 years this got a bit frustrating. Hope they come back up soon, I need my fix

No.. frustrating is when they go down almost every day at 10AM EST.. they use to go down once a week for maintenance and maybe a second time if the stealth nerf they added broke something.. but in the past 6 months they seem to go down DAILY...

Yeah, been searching for a bit for a reason I could not log in. I was not ingame, so if there was a message there, I would not of seen it. They need to post something to let players know. /sighs

Over an hour later, still down and not a word as to what is being "fixed" or how long they will be down.

And some wonder about why so many complain about how little it appears Sony cares about their customers. If they are going to shut down they should post that fact here, the server status is saying that all servers are up. If they are going to shut down & post a message about online to the players they should at least have the courtesy to tell the players online at least approximately how long they plan to be down.

I avoided the first EQ because of the horror stories about Sony's actions, I was told that most of that was fixed but now I'm beginning to wonder if it is worth the bother of buying the full game. If they want me to continue to pay to play then they need to get their act together.

I'm used to the 15-45 minutes every Tuesday, and actually don't mind that because it keeps the servers running more smoothly ( snickers ). You do have to admit, AB has been ALOT more stable recently. I was actually quite surprised to see that they are not up as of yet. These downtimes are nothing like EQ1, not even close. I would be appreciative to see a note from someone as to why it's gone longer than normal but if it goes up again soon I'll be fine. From what I have seen unless it goes REALLY long (4 hours+) they don't normally bother comming in here.

What has struck me odd is why they haven't simply instituted updates at 3am. The standard practice is to do them 7am - 8am pacific (when they get into work) which results in 10am - 11am EST (almost afternoon) let alone if we saunter into the EU area when it becomes prime time.

While sure this time frame has a lower population density as opposed to 5pm pacific, it still has DENSITY and lots of players are continually frustrated with this. What's wrong with having one employee come in at 3am to push a button and simply cycle which employee per week does it? If eq has 100,000 subs, they're bringing in 18 mil a year and this doesn't even include station cash, or expansion products. I think they could afford giving a 100 buck bonus to the employee who comes in that week. That would save them having to read all these posts, deal with complaints, emails etc.. let alone i am pretty sure people have left the game due to lack of communication on updates (some of us ONLY have morning play times). Each person who has left has cost them 180 bucks a year in lost sub revenue let alone expansion costs and station cash which should put it in the 250+ range.

Just a thought,

Brian

There is no post at all about a game update on 10/17. It is extremely unprofessional to schedule this kind of downtime unexpectedly and with no warning on the forums.

Furthermore, it is beyond my comprehension why SOE still brings servers down during the daytime, inconveniencing many paying subscribers. These downtimes should be scheduled in the earliest hours of the morning when the least amount of users are on and the least amount of impact will affect paying subscribers. I have worked as a server admin for years and this is the only way its done in any professional environment.
