I wonder if we might make an extensive across-server listing of the various player-made libraries across Norrath with:

A. The name of the player who owns the library

B. Which server it is located on

C. Where, (which city), it is located

D. (if possible), the number of volumes (in-game books and player-made books) it contains.

E. If it is open to the general public or only by appointment

F. If there are any lectures or events that are held there

It's not really necessary to catalogue the names of each volume, (for some that would be in the hundreds), but rather the total volumes available. Or at least an approximation (ie: dozens, scores, hundreds etc)

I think it might be a valuable resource to construct such a listing.

Here's the info for The Morning Glory Library, Qeynos branch. When the Freeport branch, the Mourning Gory Library is finished I'll add the info for that one too.

A. The name of the player who owns the library

 Aleteriq

B. Which server it is located on

 Everfrost

C. Where, (which city), it is located

 #2 Lucie Street, South Qeynos

D. (if possible), the number of volumes (in-game books and player-made books) it contains.

I'd have to check on this one, I'm not really sure, but I have managed to mostly keep duplicates out of the house.

E. If it is open to the general public or only by appointment

 Open to the public.

F. If there are any lectures or events that are held there

No, but I'm not opposed to if someone wants to use it for something, as long as I'm asked by PM or in-game mail first.

Here is a link to the forum post if anyone would like to see it: Morning Glory Library

Where, (which city), it is located

Tenebrous Isle (SFP) - in the Hall of Fame as 'Don't Look Down'.

D. (if possible), the number of volumes (in-game books and player-made books) it contains.

Quite a few in-game books, and a selection of player-made. Importantly, there's a player-made quest in there which I'm reliably informed is both fun and amusing. Faefer runs the Centre for Arcane Ministration (a research hospital) and is seeking volunteers to assist in some diagnosis work on a particularly difficult case. There's also starter books in there for a couple of other player-made quests I have on different toons.

E. If it is open to the general public or only by appointment

Open to the public

F. If there are any lectures or events that are held there

Stern lectures given about poor ratings.

A. The name of the character who owns the library

Calenthis

B. Which server it is located on

Oasis

C. Where, (which city), it is located

2 Walk of the Dead, Neriak

D. (if possible), the number of volumes (in-game books and player-made books) it contains.

It's just a small library. I lost count at around 50 to 60 in-game books. No player-made ones, though I have been thinking of writing some. More books are added as I obtain them... and I currently have plenty of shelf space for more.

E. If it is open to the general public or only by appointment

Open to the public.

F. If there are any lectures or events that are held there

It is really just my private library, so no lectures or events.

BiblioNorrath actually already does this. http://biblionorrath.com

I'm taking over the updates from Aurelis, so the new site will be launching Soon(tm) -- but I have to rebuild the site on my own server, so I can't update the existing files to include the new items added over the last several months. Otherwise, though, most items are there and it's an awesome resource.

However, it tells us nothing about whether the library in question is public or private, and if events can be hosted there. All it tells us is that an individual has X number of books. They could be all stacked on the floor or shoved in the moving crate.

On a Bibby related note--so it isn't dead! We hadn't heard anything since Aurelis changed the update to say someone was taking over. I'll pass the information on to the other Bibliophiles.

Thank you for taking it over!

In the revamp, I'll work in a public/private label as well as details on any events that take place there. Those are great details to have included!
