I really want to fully get this out there NOW so I know that SoE understands what they are giving us. I dont think the value has sunk in for many, and Im sure there are some who are being silent about it. But i want this can of worms opened up just in case there is a catch, or they take it away based on the value.

1. All subscribers are getting 500 SC per month

2. Subscriptions will be available via SC

3. Expansions will be available via SC

So this obviously isnt just a 'heres some SC to buy fluff with' thing. This is actually a big deal.

Over the course of 12 months wed get 6000 SC.

Thats a free expansion and then some

Or, thats 4 free months of EQ

There are a lot of things you can do with this. I hope that SoE realized this before it was announced.

Obviously their hope is we all buy petamorph wands and troll plushies and gaming tables with it, and many will. But the people that can be patient with their SC will be well rewarded.

I just would LOVE clarification that:

the 500 SC/month isnt going away AND

that $1.00 will remain = to 100 SC

this way I can brace myself if there is a catch to this.

It's important to note that it's for recurring subs. (see here on #3)

i.e. only for Gold Subscribers using a Credit/Debit card or similar payment method.

Remember that SC costs Sony nothing, well... nothing except a vague possibility that you'll buy less SC because you're already getting 500SC free which most likely is bogus cos you'll spend your 500SC then realise that there was something else in the marketplace which you can't wait until next month to buy.

Basically Sony run their own SC printing press, giving you 500SC does not cost them $5 real US Greenback bucks.

That what i heard too, but the freeblood and breastlord wont be free though, even if you are gold member. 2,000 SC for freeblood and not sure how much beastlord will be, prob the samn.

I bought freeblood other day and didnt see this, tho i was getting ripped off and realise that i wasnt and if you want it, gotta buy it.

So this free EQII Live along with 500 SC a month is not that bad at all.
The idea behind the free SC is pretty simple. It's a foot-in-the-door phenomenon. If we give people 500 station cash, they might look at that 1,000 station cash item and say to themselves...hey it's only $5 now. I think I'll get that. Or that 1,500 station cash item and say ...hey it's only $10 now because I was given a "free" 500. Or after two months that 1,500 turns into a ...hey it's only $5 now.

They're hoping people will buy station cash to make friends with their "free" 500 station cash a month so that items will not seem so costly. Money, money, money.

I suspect the "free SC" will continue but marketplace items will simply increase in price. Think about it, get the anti-SC players to accept the presence of the marketplace a bit more by giving away free SC that they could save for a future expansion features pack and increase the price on the marketplace to grab more money from those who buy lots of SC items.

Then it will happen, game changing marketplace items will show up again no matter what the outcome of the player poll turns out to be. When that happens, the anti-pay-to-win players will leave and SOE will be left with inflated marketplace prices + pay-to-win item sales.

Does that sound too unreasonable to be true? Maybe it is but I wouldn't place a bet against it happening after the F2P change.
