The preorder page shows November 30 as the launch date for AoD. Since that is less than 3 weeks away, I'm curious about beta starting. It's hard to imagine a 3 week beta, but if it's not started yet, I'm a little dubious about the launch.

Just curious. Not wishing any inside info. Anybody know?

Well, as far as I can tell, and confirmed in the podcast last week and several sites, beta invites were supposed to go out Tuesday or today, Thursday. Until those go out the beta is still in the friends and family stage. I could be wrong but I don't know anyone that is in the beta from the public just yet.

The problem is that SOE's Beta NDA usual prohibits Beta testers from talking about it, even to say they're in it.

Not that that stops some folks

Spidey sense says SOE's outgoing mail server is under heavy load right now.

The Producer's Letter mentions that the expansion comes out in December 2011.

Age of Discovery Closed Beta Registration is Now Open! mentions "Beta acceptance emails will go out between October 27th and November 16th."

Technically Beta started on Oct 27 with a very small group of friends and family.

And according to todays webcast Beta invites should start being sent out tonight to Fan Faire attendees plus a couple hundred of other people as well, and they'll keep adding waves of people as the weeks go by.

If you're not signing up for beta, why does it matter to you when it starts? All the information anyone else knows, has been provided in the various forms of communication to us from the devs and community relations teams.

And yes, EQ1 and EQ2 NDA has never allowed beta testers to even say that they're in Beta, as far as I can remember. That's not to say everyone has always followed through with that agreement.

(My reply is a little late as I just finished watching the podcast and I like to make sure I have my facts all in order before posting.)

[Edited to fix a link and correct a word]
