View Full Version : A Midnight Garden/Tilder's Estate

07-29-2011, 06:45 AM
<p>This thread will contain two houses, using the same layout. The concepts are vastly different, though. I'll start with Morive's midnight garden, then move on to Tilder's estate.</p><p><img src="http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l80/myrtelolaf/EQ2_000990.jpg" /></p><p>Entrance to the first garden, with open roof.</p><p><img src="http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l80/myrtelolaf/EQ2_000991.jpg" /></p><p><img src="http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l80/myrtelolaf/EQ2_000993.jpg" /></p><p><img src="http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l80/myrtelolaf/EQ2_000994.jpg" /></p><p><img src="http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l80/myrtelolaf/EQ2_000995.jpg" /></p><p><img src="http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l80/myrtelolaf/EQ2_000996.jpg" /></p><p><img src="http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l80/myrtelolaf/EQ2_001012.jpg" /></p><p>The main hall, and the second garden. I wanted to use strong colors for this, but tried to stick to the purple/green/red theme.</p><p><img src="http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l80/myrtelolaf/EQ2_001013.jpg" /></p><p><img src="http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l80/myrtelolaf/EQ2_001014.jpg" /></p><p><img src="http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l80/myrtelolaf/EQ2_001015.jpg" /></p><p><img src="http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l80/myrtelolaf/EQ2_001017.jpg" /></p><p>Been a while since I built my <a href="http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/posts/list.m?topic_id=422350" target="_blank">first pipe organ</a>, and I gotto say it was far less of a pain now, with the layout editor doing a lot of the work. (Yeah, I just learned how to use it so I'm gonna praise it throughout this thread. :p)</p><p><img src="http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l80/myrtelolaf/EQ2_001019.jpg" /></p><p><img src="http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l80/myrtelolaf/EQ2_001020.jpg" /></p><p><img src="http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l80/myrtelolaf/EQ2_001021.jpg" /></p><p>Down to the basement area. Not much down there, 1100 item count just wasn't enough....</p><p><img src="http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l80/myrtelolaf/EQ2_000997.jpg" /></p><p><img src="http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l80/myrtelolaf/EQ2_001110.jpg" /></p><p><img src="http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l80/myrtelolaf/EQ2_001113.jpg" /></p><p>A second open roof. I found that a good technique to make the sky look more "real", is to lift it up as far as possible. I used 4 tiles to cover the whole area + misty tiles to simulate moving clouds.</p><p><img src="http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l80/myrtelolaf/EQ2_001111.jpg" /></p><p>Yeah, this is the bedroom. You get the picture.... <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" /></p><p><img src="http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l80/myrtelolaf/EQ2_001112.jpg" /></p><p>Morive's desk. Each item on it plays a part in the background story of this character, which is explained in the book on the table.</p><p><img src="http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l80/myrtelolaf/EQ2_001000.jpg" /></p><p>Simple bath. Would have loved to give it more detail, but ran out of item slots.</p><p><img src="http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l80/myrtelolaf/EQ2_001006.jpg" /></p><p>The dining room.</p><p><img src="http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l80/myrtelolaf/EQ2_001007.jpg" /></p><p>The fireplace is heavily inspired by Senya's works, thus credit for that should go to her.</p><p><img src="http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l80/myrtelolaf/EQ2_001114.jpg" /></p><p>These rose bouquets would have been a pain to get right, but it went fairly easy thanks to Jesdyr's layout editor. Each required 10 pieces to create, including the vase.</p><p><img src="http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l80/myrtelolaf/EQ2_001010.jpg" /></p><p><img src="http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l80/myrtelolaf/EQ2_001009.jpg" /></p><p>That was all, thanks for looking. <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" /> The address to this house is AB, South Qeynos, Mistmoore Crags Estates under Morive.</p><p>Will post Tilder's Estate below this.</p><p>Some of my other projects: <a href="list.m?topic_id=504458" target="_blank">~ A little piece of Phnom Penh ~ (TT Island project/Asian style)</a> <a href="list.m?topic_id=504039" target="_blank">A Midnight Garden/Tilder's Estate (Mistmoore Crags Estates)</a> <a href="list.m?topic_id=504542" target="_blank">An Oasis in Halas/The Dark Sanctum (New Halas)</a> <a href="list.m?topic_id=504038" target="_blank">Jamilah's Persian Garden</a> <a href="list.m?topic_id=490877" target="_blank">~ A Little Stone House by the Sea ~ (Gorowyn, break-out house)</a> <a href="list.m?topic_id=480623" target="_blank">A Ghastly Druid's Hideout (Freeport)</a> <a href="list.m?topic_id=476823" target="_blank">Indoors, Outdoors (Maj Dul)</a> <a href="list.m?topic_id=470144" target="_blank">~ The Four Seasons Part 1, Autumn ~ (Freeport)</a> <a href="list.m?topic_id=457315" target="_blank">Fire and Brimstone (Gorowyn)</a> <a href="list.m?topic_id=437678" target="_blank">A Froglok Retreat (Gorowyn)</a></p><p><a href="http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/posts/list.m?topic_id=490877" target="_blank"></a></p>

<p>Onward to Tilder's estate. Tilder is a vampire, with a long and rich character history which I don't even know half of so it's not for me to get into that. The layout of this house is similar to Morive's, but I was aiming for a "colder" feel, as it would fit his character better. He also requested I use no flowers or plants except in the servant's quarters.</p><p><img src="http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l80/myrtelolaf/EQ2_001025.jpg" /></p><p><img src="http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l80/myrtelolaf/EQ2_001028.jpg" /></p><p>A statue of a well known vampire, surrounded by the statues of six men with their heads bowed. <p>Thank you. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></p><p>As for your question, those red pool trees are from a collection quest. I don't recall the name right now, but it's a high end instance and it's insanely expensive. <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> I totally broke my bank on those 4 trees you see there.</p>

<p>/picks jaw up off floor.  Brilliant, my friend.  Still trying to figure out what wood that is in the dungeon.  Your work is always so precise and beautiful.  Thanks for sharing!!</p>

<p>It's really perfect, I love it !</p>

07-29-2011, 09:36 AM
<p>WOW! I had to go tour first before commenting.</p><p>You stairwell transitions leave me breathless, they're perfect.  Your lines are clean and everything is laid out so well. They are both just beautiful! The darn item count though : /</p>

<p>Gorgeous! I love how clean and sharp it is. The details are amazing. Wonderful job. <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/e8a506dc4ad763aca51bec4ca7dc8560.gif" border="0" />  I love the colors and I really love the sky lights.</p>

<p>I love your work!  It's always so flawless.  *steals into game to look at it all in person and steal ideas*</p>

<p><span style="color: #99cc00;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: book antiqua,palatino;">/jaw hits the floor </span></span></span></p><p><span style="color: #99cc00;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: book antiqua, palatino;">I was stunned to learn that both are in MM Craig estate, you hid it well <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />. What an amazing job you did! My favorite is first house, but both share your mastery of clean angles, contemplative spaces and amazing color coordination. Flawless pipe organ, very realistic sky, the sleeping coffin and million other details set a truly vampiric mood throughout the house.</span></span></span></p><p><span style="color: #99cc00;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: book antiqua, palatino;">Now I'm off to fix my jaw back in... <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />                               </span></span></span></p>

<p>These are both gorgeous homes.</p>

07-29-2011, 07:14 PM
<p>It's absolutely lovely, the midnight garden.  When I read the title, I was curious as to how you'd create the "midnight" effect throughout an entire house, regardless of the time of day.  You've done the whole thing wonderfully.  <3</p><p>Rakna/Sulik</p>

07-29-2011, 09:01 PM
<p>Wow both these homes are simply amazing!!!!</p><p>*** Question though: I tried to come visit in game but I can not seem to locate these homes or the ones in your other post. AB server is Antonia Bayle correct? Created characters for both freeport and Qeynos, but I do not see any of the names you listed <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></p>

<p>Thank you for all the nice replies! <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></p><p>I think both houses should be open to visitors, I checked to make sure. Tilder's is in South Freeport, and Morive's is in South Qeynos. Both are Mistmoore Crags Estates, AB server.</p>

<p>Beautiful Beautiful Beautiful</p><p>What do you use to make the frame of your huge skylights and planters, are those more gravestones?</p>

07-31-2011, 11:44 PM
<p>Fantastic job!  Both mansions. So many wonderful things in each house.  I love how you put the red tiling over the sumac wall dividers.  Got 2 questions here, since I don't have a character on your server, what did you use for the pile organ pipes? and.. what did you use for the dungeon wood flooring?  Both look stuning. </p><p>Your a true master at decorating.  I seem to be still stumbling away at the editor.</p><p>Thanks for showing off your wonderful homes. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></p>

<p>Thanks again for replies and kind words. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></p><p>As for the the questions asked...</p><p>The floor in the dungeon is a part of the original Mistmoore design, if you've ever gone to Mistmoore Castle, you probably recognize it there. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></p><p>I used troll chairs (T1 recipe) to create the pipes for the pipe organ.</p><p>I used ornate shadow bookshelves (i think they're called something like that, anyway) for the skylight in the front foyer, and yup.... more gravestones for the planters.</p>

08-01-2011, 04:15 PM
<p>Just visited both places today. Wonderful places!</p><p>It is quite interesting to see how both have basically the same architecture but can have a diffrerent feel based on a few details. The first one having a more intimate feel, the second one having a more "imperial" feel to it.</p><p>Both are however very beautiful. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></p>

<p>I absolutely love both of these houses! I Great work!</p>

<p>Beautiful work with both of these. The colors chosen make them so different but work so well for the themes.</p>

<p>I'm thoroughly impressed with these homes.  A very impressive level of house item origami here!  I love the way you changed the whole feel of corresponding rooms by swapping tiles and changing house items.</p><p>In particular, I love the vases of roses.  Expertly done.  Just gorgeous.</p><p>The rooms are functional, spacious, and balanced.  Love the tile work in the steepled room.  Very cool effect!</p><p>Octogonal skylight is inspiring!</p><p>For these reasons and more, I feel compelled to give these two creations my personal stamp of admiration.  Well done, Amphibia!</p><p style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif; font-size: x-large;">*STAMP*</span></p><p style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y122/iesmeh/TSoA02.png" width="300" height="303" /></p><p style="text-align: center;"> </p><p style="text-align: center;"> </p>
