<p>I've been out of the game for a long while busy with various things in RL that have kind of kept me from having any free time at all. Now, I'm back and back to decorating. I started with my bruiser, since I shut down the tavern I'd been running for years. This was my first time using the editor, so I was learning with Sue's house.</p><p><span style="font-weight: bold;">Suyin's affluent Maj'Dul house on Outcast's Ledge</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: bold;">The Living Room</span>, Marakesh-style... sort ofThis room used to be the bar area of the Maj'Dul location of the Training Room. Now, it's been re-purposed to Suyin's living room.</p><p style="width: 95%;"><a href="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/LivingRoom1.jpg" target="#NEW"><img src="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/LivingRoom1.jpg" border="0" width="100%" /></a></p><p><strong><a href="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/LivingRoom1.jpg" target="#NEW"><-- Full Size --></a></strong></p><p style="width: 95%;"><a href="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/LivingRoom2.jpg" target="#NEW"><img src="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/LivingRoom2.jpg" border="0" width="100%" /></a></p><p><strong><a href="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/LivingRoom2.jpg" target="#NEW"><-- Full Size --></a></strong></p><p style="width: 95%;"><a href="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/Diorama.jpg" target="#NEW"><img src="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/Diorama.jpg" border="0" width="100%" /></a></p><p><strong><a href="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/Diorama.jpg" target="#NEW"><-- Full Size --></a></strong></p><p><span style="font-weight: bold;">The Arena</span>This would have been one of the original areas of the former Maj'Dul Training Room that Suyin hasn't touched. End of story. The original bath house in the Freeport Training Room was my favorite room ever done, and I recreated it in the smaller room before I realized I could break out of the house's geometry. Then, I shuffled things around so I could save on item count. This room got closed off and moved to the larger room.</p><p style="width: 95%;"><a href="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/OriginalMajDulBathHouse.jpg" target="#NEW"><img src="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/OriginalMajDulBathHouse.jpg" border="0" width="100%" /></a></p><p><strong><a href="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/OriginalMajDulBathHouse.jpg" target="#NEW"><-- Full Size --></a></strong></p><p>See the water on the ceiling of the first recreated bath house? I <span style="font-style: italic;">loved</span> that feature. It added a bit of whimsy to the design. Unfortunately, I couldn't create the same thing in the new bath house. Not only was the new bath house far too big for the watery platform to stretch out enough and cover the ceiling, but the edges of the platform poked out over the garden and looked unsightly. That, and I also wanted to save the skylight. I loved the skylight. The original idea had been to make the bath house atrium styled, with plants lining the top of the armoires all the way around, but from the top, I noticed a glitch that would drive me nuts.</p><p style="width: 95%;"><a href="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/MajDulBuggyWindow.jpg" target="#NEW"><img src="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/MajDulBuggyWindow.jpg" border="0" width="100%" /></a></p><p><strong><a href="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/MajDulBuggyWindow.jpg" target="#NEW"><-- Full Size --></a></strong></p><p>A disappearing window. So, I proceeded to use the starry ceiling again with a twist so as not to block out the skylight. Then I tilted steam lord tapestries on their sides to cover all the stars with water like I did in the old bath house... except for the center. It looked so cool with water streaming all the way around the room and none in the center. Then I zoned out and got something, zoned back in, and all the tapestries had spun around. No amount of spinning, twisting, flipping, tweaking to create imperfect numbers, standing on my head, begging, pleading, threatening, rubbing my head and patting my belly at the same time... All right, so nothing stopped this. Apparently, I learned, there was a collision check, and the tapestries, while not close to the room's walls and not glitching while I was in the room, were close enough to automatically correct themselves any time I zoned.WTB watery tiles so I can have my watery ceiling, Thank you, devs. *bats lashes*</p><p style="width: 95%;"><a href="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/BathHouse1.jpg" target="#NEW"><img src="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/BathHouse1.jpg" border="0" width="100%" /></a></p><p><strong><a href="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/BathHouse1.jpg" target="#NEW"><-- Full Size --></a></strong></p><p style="width: 95%;"><a href="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/BathHouse2.jpg" target="#NEW"><img src="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/BathHouse2.jpg" border="0" width="100%" /></a></p><p><strong><a href="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/BathHouse2.jpg" target="#NEW"><-- Full Size --></a></strong></p><p style="width: 95%;"><a href="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/BathHouse3.jpg" target="#NEW"><img src="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/BathHouse3.jpg" border="0" width="100%" /></a></p><p><strong><a href="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/BathHouse3.jpg" target="#NEW"><-- Full Size --></a></strong></p><p><span style="font-weight: bold;">The Garden</span>, breaking out of the geometry without a teleport padI had originally planned just what you see in the first three pics minus the stairs. I'd missed the druid ring event while I was offline. This means I missed out on getting teleportation discs, and I <em>really</em> wanted a druid ring for Sapph's house so so badly. I was a sad sad panda. However, I discovered that there was a way to build up, and once I built up, I found that I was also able to break out of the geometry and run all over Maj'Dul. I took Tock running around on a tour with me for this.</p><p style="width: 95%;"><a href="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/AlternateUniverse.jpg" target="#NEW"><img src="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/AlternateUniverse.jpg" border="0" width="100%" /></a></p><p><strong><a href="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/AlternateUniverse.jpg" target="#NEW"><-- Full Size --></a></strong></p><p>See that part on the right where the wall goes straight down? I have this one spot in my kitchen, along the west wall, where the camera acts as if something solid is there and knocks my view around a lot. It was really annoying and made it really hard to place things there. When I did place things there, I was unable to interact with them... at all. If I zoned out and zoned back in, they vanished. I think this wall here on the right side of the picture is the reason why. It drops straight down along the west side of my kitchen. I had to go to my door and collect the item, which meant scrolling through 800 items (many beginning with "a" or "an," many labeled "pristine" or "a pristine").Devs, for the love of all that is holy and sacred and sane, <span style="font-style: italic;">PLEASE</span> get rid of the words "a," "an," "a pristine," and "pristine" from <span style="font-style: italic;">ALL</span> furniture/house items? Thank you. A search and sort feature would be nice too, but at least remove the unnecessary words. It would make finding furniture so much easier instead of having to look in 4 different places through 800 different items for the <span style="font-style: italic;">one</span> thing you need because it could be "vase," "a vase," "pristine vase, " or "a pristine vase."Here's the original garden.</p><p style="width: 95%;"><a href="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/Garden1.jpg" target="#NEW"><img src="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/Garden1.jpg" border="0" width="100%" /></a></p><p><strong><a href="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/Garden1.jpg" target="#NEW"><-- Full Size --></a></strong></p><p style="width: 95%;"><a href="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/Garden2.jpg" target="#NEW"><img src="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/Garden2.jpg" border="0" width="100%" /></a></p><p><strong><a href="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/Garden2.jpg" target="#NEW"><-- Full Size --></a></strong></p><p style="width: 95%;"><a href="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/Garden3.jpg" target="#NEW"><img src="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/Garden3.jpg" border="0" width="100%" /></a></p><p><strong><a href="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/Garden3.jpg" target="#NEW"><-- Full Size --></a></strong></p><p>Then, I built up my stairs. After I built them, Tock took a look and goes, "That's an excellent use of the editor's spiral layout. You married these two spirals perfectly."Me: ... I didn't know the editor had a spiral function. Those stairs were placed by hand piece by tedious piece, not done with an editor.</p><p style="width: 95%;"><a href="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/SpiralStairs1.jpg" target="#NEW"><img src="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/SpiralStairs1.jpg" border="0" width="100%" /></a></p><p><strong><a href="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/SpiralStairs1.jpg" target="#NEW"><-- Full Size --></a></strong></p><p style="width: 95%;"><a href="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/SpiralStairs2.jpg" target="#NEW"><img src="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/SpiralStairs2.jpg" border="0" width="100%" /></a></p><p><strong><a href="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/SpiralStairs2.jpg" target="#NEW"><-- Full Size --></a></strong></p><p>Now, here's where the challenge presented itself. I had a huge black hole in Suyin's backyard, and I needed to mask it somehow. I tried covering it by flipping a divider over the space to look like another rooftop. That looked great, but zoning out and back in revealed that the collision check had struck once again. It flipped my divider around on me. So, back to the drawing board. I tried paneling it. Unfortunately, paneling looked awkward, and it blocked my pretty view of the Court of Truth.Instead, I fell back on an old long-time house decorating rule I made when I first started. When trying to hide something, don't cover it up completely. It looks strange. Instead, camouflage it a little (It doesn't have to be perfect.) and then provide a distraction from it. I chose to screen the black hole with a line of planters. I had three people up there to look around, and none of them noticed the black hole until I pointed it out. I think I accomplished my mission.</p><p style="width: 95%;"><a href="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/BlackHole.jpg" target="#NEW"><img src="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/BlackHole.jpg" border="0" width="100%" /></a></p><p><strong><a href="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/BlackHole.jpg" target="#NEW"><-- Full Size --></a></strong></p><p>So... You come up the stairs to the upper garden, which leads you onto the roof with my skylight. While I loved the idea of dropping from my roof directly into my bedroom, my fine motor control skills have long since been shot for years. (Chemo fried my nervous system, I think, because I also have short-term memory loss. Gotta love chemo brain.) This means that, not only can I not target things with my mouse (I have to use tab.), but I'm also very clumsy in game. I kept falling through the skylight when I was just trying to walk by. I had to block it off with "glass." I also wanted to build an arbor for Suyin to meditate under, and it had to face the east. Very important. *nods sagely*</p><p style="width: 95%;"><a href="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/UpperGarden1.jpg" target="#NEW"><img src="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/UpperGarden1.jpg" border="0" width="100%" /></a></p><p><strong><a href="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/UpperGarden1.jpg" target="#NEW"><-- Full Size --></a></strong></p><p style="width: 95%;"><a href="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/UpperGarden2.jpg" target="#NEW"><img src="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/UpperGarden2.jpg" border="0" width="100%" /></a></p><p><strong><a href="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/UpperGarden2.jpg" target="#NEW"><-- Full Size --></a></strong></p><p style="width: 95%;"><a href="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/UpperGarden3.jpg" target="#NEW"><img src="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/UpperGarden3.jpg" border="0" width="100%" /></a></p><p><strong><a href="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/UpperGarden3.jpg" target="#NEW"><-- Full Size --></a></strong></p><p>I placed two distractions in addition to the plant screens. The first was a little flying hawk by the stairs as you come up, and the second was decorating that far off ledge.</p><p style="width: 95%;"><a href="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/BlackHoleDistraction.jpg" target="#NEW"><img src="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/BlackHoleDistraction.jpg" border="0" width="100%" /></a></p><p><strong><a href="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/Sapphirius/Decorating/Suyin/BlackHoleDistraction.jpg" target="#NEW"><-- Full Size --></a></strong></p><p>Now, I can run around the entire city, and I could have built stairs up to the ledge above and decorated that too. I ran out of room and really didn't want to buy a housing expander from the Marketplace. <img title="Sad" src="http://www.raven-mythic.com/phpbb3/images/smilies/icon_sad.gif" /></p>

<p>Very nice work!  Lots of neat details here.  I don't know why, but I really like that curio shelf thingy in the front room.</p>

<p>Beautiful work! It does feel like a good blend of exoticness and a house where someone truely lives. As well as a relaxing place to live on.</p><p>My hats off to you for doing that spiral stairs by hand. Get that right must have taken hours and lots of patience....</p><p>Good rule about camouflaging and distracting the visitor too. That is something I should try to remember giving some projects I have in mind....</p><p>By the way, if you want a druid ring for your fury I still have a lot of florets that I probably won't use much. So I can get one for you and drop on her house. Just send a tell to Rakuno in-game or ask around for me in the Homeshow channel. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></p><p>And once again, excellent work! <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/e8a506dc4ad763aca51bec4ca7dc8560.gif" border="0" /><img src="/eq2/images/smilies/e8a506dc4ad763aca51bec4ca7dc8560.gif" border="0" /><img src="/eq2/images/smilies/e8a506dc4ad763aca51bec4ca7dc8560.gif" border="0" /></p>

That would be so awesome! I was offline last fall & winter in Alaska training for my company. Afterwards, they owned my soul for 2 years, but I had to break that contract early to take care of my grandmother. It just seemed like one thing after another before I was able to pay back what I owed to the company (for my training) and move on. When I finally was able to spend any time at all in game, I realized that I missed the druid ring event and a chance for a druid ring.</p><p>EDIT: One of these days, I really should post all my tips for decorating, things that I've noticed throughout the years both in game and in real life... like big rooms look better with less stuff in it. When decorating a big space, it's better to have one big main feature and then everything else can be in small clusters and normal sized. Things like that.</p>

<p>The house is open to visitors on the Antonia Bayle server because... when have pictures ever done a home justice? Feel free to drop by Maj'Dul and take a look.</p><p>As an aside, everything I normally need in a home is right there in the living room: AA mirror & mail box on the curio (because Suyin doesn't like mirrors), market bulletin board above the door, guild hall door & sales displays combined into a simple looking cabinet. I didn't want to have to look at them every time I entered the place. I love my Veteran's display case for the lower broker fee, but it would be nice if I could have chosen my own container style for it.</p>

<p>I finally got a chance to come see your place in person. The last couple times I went there were orcs everywhere so there was no way I was going to make it down to your house hehe.  It was sure worth the trip!  I loved the diorama at the entrance it is priceless and the Porch gardens are beautifully done and so in keeping with the locale.  Great job , very impressive<img src="/eq2/images/smilies/e8a506dc4ad763aca51bec4ca7dc8560.gif" border="0" /></p><p>Kudos,</p><p>Cloudrat</p>

<p>Yeah, the "Hand of Fate" questline seems to have been really popular lately. Now, I don't know if they actually finish the quest because those djinn behind Murdeef are pretty dang hard to beat, but apparently, they've come close enough to get to the part where they warn the 3 Courts.</p><p>If you ever need help getting somewhere, holler at me. All my alts have the Call of the Veteran, and I'm usually on as either Suyin or Sapphirius.</p>

Very nice! I like your color combos and you have some very unique setups in here. I never would have thought to combine the red marble with polished wood like that. It really works! Marvelous. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />
