i have an idea,: maybe we can start with an "Real" education, like a litte school, beginner-lessons - advanced-lessons, and and and.. example: with teamspeak or voicechat ingame at 20:00:00 pm Layoutteacher Mr.Monkydonky - Lesson 1. /keep the layout and a piece of paper ...at hand//

we can go into the testcopy-server, and can show by hand and live "how to do"

because there are sooooo many little details for nowing, and when someone explane in "real" and can answer of the questions directly, will be more effective think so.

what do you mean ? (shry bed english, in german can better say what i mean)

bya*gala

roterHase was talking on the Homeshow channel right now. Seems like she is having problems to post on these forums right now.

Anyway, according to her, she just proposed the idea but would prefer for a native english speaker to teach. She just find it hard to explain things in english since it is not her native language (german is her native language). If someone would like to learn stuff in german though she would be glad to teach it.

So, anyone who can speak english well and has good knowledge of the layout want to volunteer your time to be a teacher?

I was thinking yesterday it may be a good idea to at least have a worldwide channel.

Servername.Decorators, or Servername.LayoutFiles or something.

Where people who are both familiar and unfamiliar with these kinds of things could chat while in game.

We do have a worldwide channel already... It is Antonia_Bayle.Homeshow. And yes, we talk about anything related to decoration (and even some non-related stuff!), including answering layout questions.

I would love to participate! I don't do anything really out of the ordinary with the editor, but I'm willing to teach and take classes if other people are willing to offer them!

One question... what timezone is 20:00:00 pm in? Are we talking PST (Sony time?)

And someone pointed out in another thread that some players of EQ2 are hearing impaired, so teamspeak is probably not a good idea. Plus if we type it all, while it might take longer, people can keep logs of it to reread as they go. Although I suppose we could do talking and typing...

I actually have been planning classes to give, though not in voice chat, but in game... the issue I have had is having time to give them hehe. I made a post months ago about the guild I created dedicated to decorating, Crimsonblade Interior Designs. I remember putting in there that I planned to give classes in my hall once I had it... I still don't have the hall, school gets in the way... [Removed for Content] term papers! Anyway, I still have classes planned to give once I can, but I will not be giving them in voice chat, it'll be in /say and probably in some random house of the month or something...

I would propose to keep things text-only. But if you really want to use voice-chat you can make a custom channel for it with EQ2 voice chat system just like a regular custom channel.

Yes, it works cross-server too.

Awesome. I'll have to add AB.Homeshow to my list.

Also, I'd be happy to help teach people, if I can. I don't think I'm as creative as others I see posting on the Homeshow, but I learned how to use house layouts early on and all by myself, which has to count for something. I don't use the layout editor - I basically just use a text editor. Actually I'm working on an editor of my own (not the the existing one isn't good), mostly for fun.

I'm sure there's more than a few things I could learn, too.

I want to enroll. I vote for text also. I play in an open room, and don't want to disturb other people, plus sometimes I hear voices, and sometimes I don't!

it is for sure lot of housing-freaks will like a "class",- and a lot of layout-freaks, who will/can teach, thats very great! i think we have to look by "doing" what is the best way, only write, or write and speak, or or.... think each have to do for his best way what he/she wants.

i wanted to give an input for teaching, with a directly contact where people can "see", can "Ask" can "hear" and can "do".i will give lessons in german for german-speaking-people, if required.

so i hope this project will going on would be very nice and thanks you all lots of your interessting and your helpness.

bya, *gala*

I think a few of us have had this kinda idea at one time or another. As I popped in another post I am working on a website at the moment which I am hoping will be available fairly soon, one of the things a couple of us have been batting around is having a how to / schoolhouse / learning centre for those that are new to the game and / or want to find out info regarding crafting and decorating.

It wouldn't be too hard to incorporate some in game lessons run by various people .. and utilising the test server is probably a great idea as everyone can get to it without requiring additional char slots.

Ok I'll bite the bullet before Gracey locks me in a room ... again ...

Lets see what we can get going here .. Anyone who is able to offer some help / run a class or have anything to contribute drop me a mail here or shoot me a tell in game Everfrost.Mistal and lets see what we have for starters. From there maybe we can come up with some sort of plan and see where it takes us

Mistal x

I'm still gonna run my classes on -Antonia Bayle- Because I know there are some who don't want to log into test. If I can find time, I'll lend oyu a hand too Mistal! If there are others who want to help on AB with my classes, I am willing to accept help of course! I would love to have others come in, since I do not think I am very good at teaching.

I'm on the Oasis server, and I am a decorater, but I'd love to learn all the other layout stuff that is available now as well (I have been playing almost since the beginning of the game...)
