3rd axis rotation interface. Please please.

Everything needed is already there, it just needs a hotkey. I know you don't want every new player to know about it instantly since it's so easy to screw up with items in walls, items with missing textures on the bottom etc. So make it a bit hard to find keycombo and don't announce it in update notes but only here on homeshow

Shouldn't be much harder than copy pasting the code for current rotation and change the axis and hotkey, for example right-shift+mousewheel?

They've got this in basic Everquest, I'm still very confused why it hasn't shown up here yet.

Oh I so agree!!!! I think the editor is fantastic I understand the amount of work that went into it, but when you have to make a lot of houses its just a big hassle. Oh PLEASE!!!! With only that I would be sooooooooooo happy Thanks for all the hard work, you have made some awesome things for us decorators. Domino is an angel and so are the devs...THANKS

Second Life has some excellent item manipulation tools built in for content creators. While that's waaaaaaaaay more than EQ2 needs, I think an approach like the one they took for item moving and rotating would fit in very nicely here. It's very simple, presents the user with a color-coded interface as well as a numeric one, and is just really easy to use.

Here's a couple of screenies. I've highlighted the relevant areas with red borders, the rest can just be ignored. (The images are reduced in size for the forums, but you can see them in the full size and detail here: Moving and Rotating)

This first one is moving an item. The X, Y, and Z axis are color coded with red, green, and blue, both on the numeric control panel and on the handlebars inside the item (as well as on the current position display at the top). You can type in the exact location you want numerically or you can just grab hold of the arrows inside the object and drag it around to wherever you want it. At the top is a display of the current position.

In the second image, rotating items uses the same interface and the same color coding. Again, you can either enter exact numbers in the control panel or you can just grab hold of the handle bars inside the object and rotate it freehand (in SL, holding down CTRL changes the "Move" handles, shown in the first image, into the "Rotate" handles seen here -- or you can click the button next to the function you wish to do at the very top of the control panel). At the top is a display of the current XYZ rotations.

I could easily see something similar in EQ2, assuming the game engine can support it -- and that's the biggie, of course... the engine is a tad dated at this point, unfortunately. But if it will support it, perhaps it could be added as an additional menu option to complement "Move" -- such as "Position" or "Adjust." This would keep the basic "Move" option for folks who just don't want to mess with it, and give the folks who do an additional tool to work with.

And if anyone is curious, I make some mighty fine furniture in both Second Life and in EverQuest 2 Now if only I could hammer a nail in real life without needing 911 on standby

I'd love this too, while I love to decorate I am a bit technology challenged so I try not to use too many out of game programs unless I need to, It would be nice if there were more things built into the game like a parser and they layout editor you all do wonderful things with.
