Hi

Since game update 58 whenever I run the launcher it thinks there is a 4.3MB update to apply, which it then applies. It gets to somewhere between 40-70% progress (it varies from day to day) and then jumps to "Play" mode. It does this every time the game is started.

I wasn't too bothered but noticed last night, and today, that I can no longer access the Nursery in Greater Faydark as the zone floor is missing. When I stand at the Echo Echo canyon exit I can see most of the trees, content etc just no floor. If I try to enter the area I fall through the world and get moved to safe place.

Now I'm concerned that the 2 issues are related.

Running EQ2 in Windows 7 x64 if that helps. Tried running EQ2 both normally and as Administrator, makes no difference.

Any ideas?

Cheers

It seems that the Greater Faydark Nursery issue and the constant upgrade when entering the game are un-related. I found a couple of other zones that had issues (New Halas and Darklight Wood). It seems that the streaming client can get it's content out of sync with the live game assets and doesn't appear to have a mechanism for detecting that it is out of sync.

In the end I deleted the asset cache files in <game folder>assetcache and also deleted the folder <system drive>:Users<user>AppDataLocalLowSony Online EntertainmentDigests (for good measure). It has sorted out the game issues, but it a bit of a heavy handed approach to say the least, as I now have to download all the content again.

Does the streaming client have a mechanism for performing a full file scan, similar to the non-streaming client?

I am also having some odd issues with the launcher, similar but worse.

On my old computer I used the station launcher and never had any issues running two clients on the same computer.

But when I got a new computer, I decided to do a clean install, and it defaulted to the EQ2 launcher. Now, if I try to run two clients at the same time, on the 2nd client load it says I still need 13 gigabytes to download - and that is for whichever account that I try to log in 2nd.

And with this launcher I am also getting that same 4.3 MB download every single time, on either account.

I am going to try and go back to using the Station Launcher, not if that will fix it or not, but it can't be any worse.

The 4.3mb download appears to be the streaming client replacing a manifest file each time it is launched. I'm still trying to get more information on that to see if it is working as intended.

In regards to the full file scan, I've been informed that it is performed each time the streaming client is started. You may want to try going to the the streaming client's options menu and place a check on the box next to "Check streamed assets on startup" as well as clicking on the Scan button next to Scan Game Assets.

However I don't think that I ever tried the scan button, assuming that it did the same thing.

With regard to the 4.3MB download, my gut feeling is that whatever it is downloading doesn't finish. It always seems to get about half way through and then flags that it is complete.

Let me know if you have better luck with running the Station Launcher for your multi-boxing needs. In regards to the 4.3mb download, it should only download the manifest if the current one on the client's system is not up-to-date. However, at this time it is currently set to download every time the launcher starts. This will most likely be changed some time in the future.
