Honestly just like a mob has the ability to turn to the closest target and attack it if the tank taunts it and a mage roots it while the tank is far off . All the scouts and w/e cannot stand there and beat on it to death while it cannot turn and return the favor . The act af taunting in pvp is fair and a tanks right but not to snare and root you then run from you once you are taunt locked like a coward . If they taunt you and move out of range the spell should dispell from you .If you move back into range or the tank closes the gap it becomes actiive again as the tank has recently cast it .

Taunts are fun, it just means its time to cast a blue or green aoe.

Actually, the OP has a valid point.

If you are unable to move for any (non self-inflicted) reason, you should be able to target the person closest to you, reguardless of taunts.

Think of it like this..

You get rooted, but your attention is still on the Tank that's yelling horrible and distrubing obscenities about you, your family, and your (born or unborn) children! Your brain is still so consumed by rage you can't even think clearly enough to hit the guy that's a few feet closer. All you can think to do is struggle to reach that jerk that made you so angry.

Ok, that's the in-character version.

The OOC version is: Taunts work in PvP, and it's something that sets this game apart from most others. Roots work in PvP too, and combining the two by two different players on the same team is just good strategy and execution.

LOL acyually my main is now a monk and he has lost a fight one 1 v 1 a couple times but never to another tank . Once to a brig and once to a summoner , conj or necro dont remember . But I do this to people and I know it aint fair lol . taunt everyone , evade check aand run all over the place looking for the clothies or healers . It just occured to me that pve mobs were given the ability to attack the nearest enemy to avoid exploiting and I figured that was only the right thing to do . If it doesnt get fixed oh well I will enjoy my monk when I am doing it and get frustrated when done to me . But my main rarely gets owned and when he loses its usually a [Removed for Content] good fight .

I'd be happy if they'd make tab targeting pick up the guy rocking my face and not cycle through the 5 people literally 30meters away. That'd be awesome.

Yeah, I know, and I do. Seriously though why am I picking up targets I cannot even reach with a bow? I'd be ok with it if the guy killing me was picked up 3rd or 4th but that isn't the case. He is never picked up unless I change my camera angle to isolate him and give up any ability to watch my back. It's all good though. I just think it would be special if they made some sense of it.

Edit: This is in response to Taldier, I forgot to quote you.
