So, me and a few friends were having our daily pessimistic chat about the current state of eq2 PvP, and an idea came up which I put some thought in to. So I thought I'd share it - clearly this would most likely never even be considered. But I'm bored, so /shrug.

A new PvP server all together, here's the ruleset:

- Level is capped at 50.

- All PvP is free for all, with the exception of grouping, and when in citys - which an option would be allowed to disable group invites if desired.

- All instanced zones are removed.

- 10 level range across all zones, even in citys. City pvp rules are abolished, and all guards are level 90 ^^^ (placed so that sneaking in through certain areas is possible, of course.)

- All current PvP writ and reward systems are abolished.

- All evac type spells/items are disabled on the server.

- Lastly, any death by the cause of a player is permanent, resulting in the character being deleted say, say... 1-5 minutes after loss of consciousness. A healer can rez you if they like - anything other than tells is disabled while the player is dead, to prevent spamming of 1-9 for rezzes.

Now. Here's the new system I thought up, for attaining of gear. Obviously gear will be much easier to obtain on this server, as you won't have your character long.

A mercheant will be placed in East freeport, and Qeynos Harbor, surrounded by guards of course, that will grant the player a piece of gear for any desired slots for the following amount of kills - once purchased, the kills disappear from the players kill count, and can be checked normally with /pvp. The quality of the gear would be similar to the current mastercraft, or battlegrounds gear.

5 kills - head, hands, boots, wrists.

8 kills - shoulders, legs, chest.

10 kills - a piece of jewelry for any selected slot.

12 kills - a weapon, shield, or bow.

Lastly, the fame system would be changed to the following:

5 kill streak - Hunter

10 - Slayer

20 - Destroyer

40 - Champion

60 - Dreadnaught

80 - General

100 - Master

The point of the server obviously wouldn't be to create and build up a serious character. Just to have fun, and get as high as you can, with as much gear/aa as you can before you're eventually taken out.

I'm sure I missed lots of important stuff, so feel free to /rage, /comment, or any combination of the above. =P

Seems more like a get away than a Utopia, a vacation from the zerg pvp with broken rewards and non existant risk. I think its an interesting idea and that many people would participate in, but probably not stick around and wouldnt need to. Something that you wouldn't always need to invest non stop time on just to get ahead. Newbs would have a hard time, but players with kill streaks would be targetted. We certainly need a risk system, this would be keep plenty of frustrated pvpers entertained and satisfied. PvP is all about compitition and this would feed into that need. Too bad EQ2 would never consider it ;P But its fun to think about

Kind of cool ideas I would change a few things. instead of deleting your toon each death, reset the pvp title which you build with kill streak.

start players at level 50 and cap at level 70. remove all zones introduced after EoF.

give every class track and stealth. disable see stealth abilities and totems or greatly reduce the distance you can see soemone in stealth with see stealth totems.

use old venekor server for it. do it we want it.

Edited: Start players at level 50 with 3/4ths the max number of aa points spendable.

lets get crazy and have fun

I would just be happy with a vanilla PVP server. old rules.

none of this will ever happen though.. fantasy land indeed.

Well you guys make a fund to buy the EoF source code. Sony can donate one of the old servers they have laying around from all of the merges. I will do the rest.

The only "idea" you have worth noticing is a brand new pvp server. Which I fully and completely agree with.

EQ3. This game is broken beyond the ability of Sony to generate interest from the people who love it. We simply need to start over from the beginning again... so give us EQ3... and allow pvp from the beginning but bring back the access quests to get from Nek Forest to TS and vice versa so you are forced to group up and level for a while before you ever get into your first PVP fight. But, of course, I know what would happen in that scenario. All the hard core PVPers would go over and power level themselves to 20 or so, do the access quest and then roll through the other faction's players who are shocked to see that a x2 made it to their zones two hours after the servers launched. Hell... maybe it isn't the game that is broke. Maybe it's us.

Should just make the PvP flag toggle on and off by player choice. With like a 30 minute timer till you can attack once you activate it, and a 30 minute timer till you are immune once you toggle it off. Make PvP and PvE all on the same server.

This almost completely elimates the farming of ungeared/unskilled players. It also allows PvE players to play on the same server as PvPer without the worrying of quest ganking and zerging. You think your geared well and can handle your class, turn on PvP, wait 30 minutes and go at it. Just be aware they if you want out you have to toggle off and log or hide for 30 minutes.

OK u say 10 level range for PVP and then deletion if u die.. No one will ever get past level 10 ever except for the first people to accomplish this. It is already a gank fest in the lowbee zones due to twinked out level locked a 14 players ganking the peoplewho just turned level 10. i know i just made a new character for this exact purpose who i am currently working on getting the ward jewelry for as i already have all my main slots as MC gear. now i am level 14 and from the time i turned 10 to the time i turned 12 i was ganked and killed 20 different times by 3 different rangers who were just tracking me down and killing me at level 10. now they cant kill me like that as easily but until i get the ward jewelry i have trouble killing them cause they have the ward proc.

Obviously i would in no way shape or form re grind to lv 10 over and over again just to get ganked by someone who's sole purpose is to gank people that are level 10... the population on that server would be almost nonexistant except for the peopleganking the lowbees. Frustration on that server would be at an all time high lol..

Now the start at lv 50 with 150 AA's idea is pretty good but u should also start out wearing best in slot PVP gear for your level as well so u can have a fighting chance. cause otherwise it would still be the same thing. people would just gank the fresh players with their twinky's...and the 10 level range i think is a little much i say 5 is ideal cause how close the difference of level would be. it would make for some good fights. now 10 levels would be fine if their was some form of criminal status u would get for ganking people dramaticaly lower in power than yourself so that guards will gank your butt in you have too high of a criminal rationg.. now dont make it too dificult to get rid of the criminal rating so that you have to fix your rep but it is not a grind just to do that. and the higher your criminal rating maybe makes your ability to be attacked by players higher than 10 levels above you also that being part of what lowers your criminal rating. either dying by players much higher than yours or by dying by guards who have wiped the floor with you cause you are a criminal.

The criminal system coudl be something like if you attack someone 3 or more levels below you and they have a neutral or vigilante rating it raises your criminal rating up after a few kills you are then labed as KoS by guards and higher level players than u. If you are higher than 3 levels above the person u attack and they have a criminal rating it actally lowers your creiminal rating instead of raising it. Now if you attack and kill players that have criminal status it can put u into something like a vigilante status. vigilante status can be a way to get PVP gear as in if you get so many vigilante points u can use them to purchase gear and weapons and totems and stuff. if you are a criminal you cant get gear. have the status point for vigilanteism not able to be lowered in any way other than spending it towards items and stuff but the criminal rating is a seperate point system than the vigilante one where the only thing it affects is KoS status with other players and guards. if you kill anyone currently labeled as a criminal u get vigilante pointsif u kill people lower than 3 levelsbelow you without a criminal status you get criminal status thus allowing players 3 or more levels higher than u to attack u for vigilante points

tha system could be tweaked but that is the general idea. i think it would help promote people to not gank as much but ganking is still an important aspect to the system. and it would promote PVP cause there would be reward for actually PVPing and not just leaching tokens in the WF.

Give me some feedback on this and also add to this idea and stuff. i think that this sounds like a pretty sweet system

it will probably never happen but i think i could really be cool if it did

Start at Level 50 w/ a cap at 55. (or whatever level range you would like).

It's a PVP server, and it should be used for that. Keep 100% of the population in the same pvp range.
