I dont think its how your setting up your toon its the others are twinked they just have better gear this will be the norm for a while. The best thing to do is try to find a good guild that take in new players.

Also get in groups safer by numbers.Dont get discourage it will get better with time and youll be the one killing toons.

If you're learning the game and cutting your teeth on the PvP server, you're going to be in for a world of hurt. That's just the nature of it. The majority of players there have been at it for a while, and even the bad ones will have an edge on you, as class & gear can offset lack of skill (to a point). Take the suggestion above regarding finding a guild that's newbie friendly to heart. Someone who can act as a bodyguard while you're learning the ropes, and maybe help you gear up, can help you go very far very quickly. At level 15, you're open to attack from anyone level 19 and under. Check out the guild recruiting tab ingame, and see if any are taking new players under their wings.

I'd venture to say that as a rule, if you don't have at least mastercrafted gear appropriate for your tier and a fair number of expert level or higher spells it will be challening for you. Once in a while you'd run across someone newly minted and undergeared as well and have a fighting chance. However, there are many people out there that are level locked and geared to the max, with spells to Master level or at least expert, and HAVE 3 PIECES OF A PVP JEWELRY SET THAT PROC A REGENERATING WARD. I can't emphasize that last part enough. You'll also need to get status to purchase the PVP gear I mentioned. (I got most of my status from doing a couple heritage quests and quite a few tradeskill writs. You get status from the token writs and kills too but that didn't keep up with my tokens early on.)

Since the warfields arrived, despite the lag, both CL and Antonica are hotbeds of PVP of all levels. If you can jump in with others and join a group out to get some writs done you'll start working towards tokens for getting that ward jewelry too. See the vintage wares NPC in your home city. Not sure if you are good or evil although I'll assume good since you are High Elf. Frankly, you'll benefit from about a 4 or 5 to one ratio of players on your side attacking the people on my side in the warfields. Good for you. Sucks to be us. The event itself can also reward tokens but it still seems to be a bit buggy

If you don't want to tradeskill, then harvest a bunch for rares to sell and/or have made into armor/spells/jewelry. Also, collect every shiny you find to sell. Some of them go for quite a bit on the broker.

My 2cp.

You will get better pvp info here and better class info there imo.
