<p>Is there any eta on when the Freeport Guards will stop kicking citizens as they walk through the city?  Or was there some quest I was supposed to complete to prevent this repeatedly annoying occurance?  It has ceased to be amusing.</p>

<p>You know, I remember reading about this in a post not too long ago. I seem to recall people saying they were able to kill 10 guards, and the guards stopped zapping them when walking through town. I don't think it was a quest or anything...</p><p>Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find it in search... but I'll keep trying and repost if I do! <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></p>

<p>Yes, if you can just kill the guards till you are left alone. You will get a message <a guard>  fears you!</p><p>They leave me be now, after I littered EFP and NFP with their broken bodies as correction.</p>

<p>Only kill the Thexian guards since they are the ones that do that.  The normal Freeport ones do not.</p>

<p>Wrong! Both the thexian and the regular guards shove you in Freeport as i have had both do so. This is until i slaughtered all guards that shoved me regardless of whether they were thexian, ogre, troll or what ever. Not walk through Freeport and get messages like Dreadwhatsis fears you etc.</p>

The actual freeport militia guards in west freeport did not knock me down.</p>

<p>It's still two separate groups of guards.  The Thexians are one group.  The Dreadwhatever in South FP are another group.</p><p>You have to kick both groups' arses to have free wandering of the city without randomly getting kicked around.</p>

<p>Personally I have found these stun tactics to be nothing but a nuisance and have no value to whatever storyline is trying to be developed. I kill the guards regularly but it takes time and is a real pita.</p><p>I think what the guards do have NO FUN VALUE, NO STORYLINE VALUE -- JUST A ROYAL PITA. I think it should be removed from the game. It adds nothing to it but and irritation factor.</p>

It's to show that Freeport is falling apart without the Overlord there, as stuff like that would never happen when the Overlord was in charge.</p><p>And it's really a very minor annoyance, even if you get kicked it adds an extra...10 seconds? If that? to your journey</p>

<p>I believe the story goes that since Freeport became shorthanded on guards, Neriak, out of the "generosity of their hearts" sent Freeport reinforcements to help guard the town.</p><p>Since anyone who has traveled through Neriak and spoken to them about Freeportians know how they feel about said townsfolk, it makes sense that the Dreadnauts (and yes it is ONLY the Dreadnauts and Thexians that do this..) get in digs or kicks when they get a chance...</p><p>...until you beat the crap out of them enough for them to realize that if they don't want to die lots they had better leave you alone.</p><p>Personally, I find it satisfying, as my Dark Elf Necromancer, to see ANYONE blatantly Fear me, so this was well worth the trouble once they fixed it so they WOULD fear you (remember when they first DIDN'T have it and your killing was just to make you feel better?).</p><p>Now the only problem is the lowbie adventurers who CAN'T kill the guards, but hopefully they are all out in Darklight Woods, Timmy's Deep or New Halas and aren't to be bothered with the "Temps" from Neriak.</p><p>After that, well, it's just a small pain in the butt and you can look forward to leveling up and getting your revenge, later..</p>

<p>My betrayed Froglok Shadowknight and Wood Elf Defiler are no longer bothered by the guards but the <strong>unattackable</strong> citizens still make wisecracks as I pass. They will pay, they will learn. . .</p>
