the fighters role in group PvP is to taunt lock as much as possible, the enemy players on to him. this is done with aoe taunts, and constantly tabbing through targets and single taunting them on to you.

As far as beserker is concerned, they have great survivability right now, and can kick some butt too. another smart option if more then one tank is in your group, one of you target the enemy healers and keep them on YOU, do not target away if you are doing this as they will heal through you to your target. by doing this you rob them of single target heals on thier tank and other players, hopefully you have a good MA who can keep his distance and not get taunted so the rest of your dps can cut down his targets.

Correct Your job is to keep their dps off your healers/dps, or tauntlock their healers so they can't single target heal while your dps burns their dps or tank down.

Zerkers do some insane dps in PVP right now but that's not really what primary focus is for plate tanks. For brawlers the focus seems to be more on dps/single target taunt and multitude of other tricks they have to cc

For plate tanks though just focus on their dps mainly, if their dps classses can't target your healers then you will stay alive. Must keep enchanters and scouts from targeting healers, most healers can deal with damage/cc from pretty much any other class but rogues/pred/enchanter.

It's pretty easy in BG because you have class icons next to your name which we don't have in open PVP servers, so you can see who you want to target. Unfortunately, as a healer, having this icon next to my name is...bad..

Based on the Battleground parses I've seen, your goal as a Beserker is to top the heal parse, the DPS parse, the kill parse and the damage taken parse in every Battleground you enter.

At the same time, you should keep every opponant in zone locked on you for 98.3% of the time you are alive (which will be 100% of the time.

Good luck!*

*Luck not required.

Another good thing to keep in mind is knowing the different ways in which tanks "reactive taunts" work...

For example, Brawlers get a reactive taunt based off of melee damag that THEY deliver, meaning when they land a punch, it has a chance to force their victim onto them...

Zerkers, in your case, reactive taunt is based off of melee damage YOU recieve... meaning when you get punched it has a 20%chance to force their target onto you...

Guardians have a great reactive taunt (the best IMHO) which makes them a KILLER pvp tank... and very hard to get away from... theirs is based off of damage done to them, it has a 50% chance when the guardian takes ANY damage to force targets to the Guardian... meaning every AOE that hits them has a 50/50 shot of forcing that attacker onto them...

etc etc...

At any rate, learning what type of fighter is in the other group helps you develop a strategy...

Fighting brawlsers: since brawlers dont get an ABUNDANT amount of AOEs or encounter attacks, and since their reactives are based off of melee damage THEY do to you and your group... keeping them locked onto you makes it harder for them to proc reactive taunts onto your group... and they are left with group taunts and their blue aoes to hopefully trigger force targets...

etc etc etc...

you get the point... dont just learn your class, learn other classes as well...

Remember.. TAB TAB TAB TAUNT TAUNT TAUNT = win

If you are truely PVP tanking, topping the DPS parse isnt always the best thing... try to top the "force target" parse and you win the game

TAB ftl make sure to set up a previous and next hostile pvp target in your targeting keys, tab will end up hitting a random bush or a mob or player you do not wish to attack granted in a bg setting there are none of those
