View Full Version : "Idiot Lights" and /Anon....

I will beg, and I will bribe, if necessary. The icons beside a players head announcing their class are absolutely ridiculous in BG's. It is a giant neon billboard by my head saying "Hello, I am this group's only healer! Please feel free to kill me first and as often as you possibly can, kk thanks!"

These "idiot lights" don't appear on pvp servers to let people know who is what class. Pvpers have to develop the skills to observe the players and eventually know what kind of class they are just by what buffs they are running. Why should BG's have them?

The opposing teams should be 100% anon to each other.

Knowledge of the game and paying attention should be the only way to decipher who is what class while in a BG. Be it obvious armor choices or watching the combat log it should the player who figures out who is what class.

It's a seperate software running in the back parsing the log file into more human reading way.I agrees with that everyone should be anon automatically on the enemy side. Learn their role in the fight by other means that those "billboards" . Buffs, fighting locations, animations, looks, etc.. There is many ways to spot who is the healer, dps and/or tank.

If you really want a parse there is the scoreboard.

The only add-on I use it Eq2maps, the rest is all the integrated UI adjusted within the game.

All you need to do is look at someone's buffs and you know exactly what class they are.

/agree with squeeeek Due to the fact that no PvE player would ever practice this, I see this as evening the playing field so PvP players cannot utilize advanced tactics against them.

It is a learned skill of pvp and utterly ridiculous to have the billboards announcing the fact to everyone in the zone what class a player is.

Are you suggesting that players with no PvP experience are having such an easy time vs PvPers in battlegrounds that this thing that helps them needs to be removed?

I mean for a PvPer or elite player like yourself the icon is just irrelevant.. to a noob its a godsend. I would say being a good PvPer conveys plenty of advantage already without needing to make noobs even more confused and vulnerable.

Seriously.. is ganking new players not easy enough already??

I think I can cope. Im talking about actual newbies. People who are level 80+ but pretty much out of their depth in PvP.. I think they are out of their depth enough already and cannot see why anyone else would have a problem with the icons.

I don't have a problem with the icons per'se, but I do feel that it is making it entirely too easy. Lets just easy mode everything. Our next patch update will be that nagafen no longer has over world PvP and is being merged with Antonia Bayle. It's just another example of the 'dumbing down' that has been happening for a long time now.

There is no ability to hide within the group and use tactics to avoid being targeted, it is simple kill the person with the green tag. Identifying someone by a sign takes no effort.

I don't care about signs on a persons own team and those do in fact help people due to the random nature of who you group with.
