<p>What version of direct X does EQ2 support. I have DX9 installed. Should I install DX10?</p>

Should I install DX10?</p></blockquote><p>EQ2 is a directx9 coded game, if you are running Vists you already have DX10 installed and the optional DX9 modules for the game should already be loaded, if Windows 7 it is dx11 and only needs dxwebsetup.exe from Microsoft to add the optional modules.</p><p>Sounds like you might be running Windows XP, my opinion is - if you don;t need it for something don't bother, to be 100 DX10 compatilbe you need a video card that is certified for DX10.</p>

I was just wondering if EQ2 was DX10. But you have reassured me I can keep DX9 and I am happy with that.</p><p>I am running XP and see no need to go to Win7.</p>

Technical support for XP ends this month and if I recall correctly the only Windows Update files pertain to security now. If you really need XP, then obtain Windows 7 Pro or Home Premium and install the virtual XP machine that is available from MS. It is available for download from MS and there is also a text application to make sure your machine is capable of running it.</p>

As XP gets older, more companies will stop producing drivers that are compatible with that operating system. Security updates can be a major concern as well depending on what information you keep on your system. </p><p>It may not be a pressing issue, but I would certainly advise upgrading your version of Windows over the longer term.</p>
