View Full Version : Where is all the purple stuff?

So a guildie asked me for everything purple the other day...and then I realized we have a dismal lack of purple things in the game. I can think of two items, both tapestries, that have purple on them. Then there is a purple and blue (expensive) bed but it doesn't really cut it. That is all I have found that is purple.

While blue may be my favorite I have to wonder...why the lack of purple things? We need more purple!!

DId you petition it or submit a /bug report?

I don't usually petition unless it is to resolve a problem and I use /bug to report actual bugs. I am a huge fan of the /feedback feature and I do use it extensively...so extensively that I get flack for the number of /feedback messages I send...lol.

So the point of my post is more or less to see if there are others that think we need more purple stuffs too.

I actually noticed the same thing when my daughter asked me to decorate her house in purple. There really isn't a whole lot to work with.

I'm working on my office with a purple theme

Cool. That does give me some ideas. Can't wait till Frostfell for those pretty lanterns. I didn't get any last time cause I was a slacker

I wish we had a purple carpet though as that would go a long way towards the purple theme.

oh, and the big purple nomad tent, a large purple candle, deaths head drapery, and the purple paper lanterns are going for about 10g here, maybe you can get a few for the same.

You reminded me of a few things I had forgotten...

[email protected] wrote:

I wish we had a purple carpet though as that would go a long way towards the purple theme.

The Rilissian Ornamental Rug is blue with some purple on it. Teak single bed has a purple blanket. Dark ask bunk bed is made from a sort of purple wood (Thexian Wine Racks are the same color). Eccentric Fir Bed is purple. There's also the regal bed, but I assume that's what you mean by the expensive one. Xegonite Knight's Sconce has a purple flame, as does the Ferrite Brazier. Tall Cobalt Vase has some purple-ish swirls on them. Topaz Gazing Orb is purple. That's about it though, that can be crafted anyway (in addition to some of the other things mentioned). Not really enough to actually base much of a room on. I originally wanted to do my conjuror's house with a lot of purple, but there just isn't much out there..

Well I should have remembered the tent as being purple since I have one somewhere..lol. That is what I get for staying up till 2 am.

I really like the teak bed but I always thought of that as being more blue than purple, maybe just my lighting or something. Same with the pretty benches from SoL. Anyways, thanks all for memory jolting, I will have a nice list when I get home tonight.

Someday I hope we will have more purple stuff for our houses. For now I will have to muse what to do with that silly warped bed.

I have to agree with the lack of purple. But really the lack of colors. When I think about decorating in colors i think either: Green, Red, or Blue (and wood but thats not really a color)

Why not black, grey, purple, orange (though red can be close to this i guess), gold, silver, etc.

Mostly I wish we had more solid color rugs like our favorite red ones everyone uses.

It's very well done, so please don't take this the wrong way.. but a rug and some knick knacks don't really equal "many" things in my mind. There are a lot of options for people who want red, blue, green, and of course wood tones. Purple is still somewhat limited. There are no chairs, tables, and large rugs (well, there's the Rillisian Ornamental Rug, but that's also got a good bit of blue as well). Again, it's not impossible to have a purple room, I do have a purple room in one of my Neriak homes, but as you said I had to mix in a good bit of blue as well, and some greens even, (and plain wood). It's not really a good sold theme, as I can get with the other colors above. Still looks good, but more options would be great.

But there is still more than enough to do a room in a purple theme, even if some of the pieces aren't ones you'd necessarily choose for any given room. But a colour theme doesn't mean that every item is whatever colour (and in fact it probably shouldn't be, it would be overkill), it just needs to be in the main accents. I agree though, it would be nice to have a bit more variety in colours available, and hopefully Domino will read this thread and take it into account when working with the art folks for the next expansion! The problem is that there's a lot of colours and only so many items (btw, did anyone mention the new red shiny collection reward Peacock feather?). But the latest set of recipes added blue items which people had been wanting for quite a while, hopefully we'll get additional colour sets down the line (but not the same furniture graphic I hope).

There are a lot of purple accessories, but not a lot in the way of main items. What I mean by this.. well, for example, there are no purple chairs or couches. If one wants to do a sitting room in green, blue, red, or pink it's not that hard - but you can't do this with purple. Parts of a bedroom may be easier, but again, still lacking chairs and the like..Again, is it impossible to do a room in purple? No, of course not. However, there is a smaller variety to choose from compaired to many of the other colors, and trying to do specific things is pretty hard. It is much harder to get something as dramatic or as obvious as you can do with most of the other colors. (And if you're trying to do more than one room, it only gets that much harder..)

I guess I should have phrased that differently, by main accents I didn't mean the main pieces of furniture, but the accent pieces that to me make the most statement in a room... the vase of flowers on a table, the dishes, the curtains hanging in the window, the tapestry on the wall, the rug on the floor, etc. Then again, a lot of it is personal taste. I think a good part of the problem is not so much the number of items in any given colour (which I suspect is pretty close really) but the type of items. Anyways, feedback is always good and I can't wait to see what the new recipes in the next expansion will bring us .

We have a fair number of purple accessories, and while having say.. a purple vase of flowers, a few purple firepots, and some purple tapestries on the wall can help to tie a room together, that's not what I personally have in mind when I think of doing a theme room. (Although again, it does also depend on the type of room as well..) That's why I'd like to see more main items in purple.Of course, I am not one to ever object to more house items of any color and/or style either..

I agree. As we have seen in this thread, there's a good variety of purple accent pieces, but not much in the way of solidly purple furnishings or substantial furniture.

I *totally* want the bed from Deathfist Citadel, the one with the purple hangings.

If I were doing a purple-themed area, I think I'd probably use silver wall dividers and the grey-silver wooden items as a neutral backdrop. I wouldn't probably do a hugely purple room though, for fear of feeling as if I were lost in Barbie's Dream Vacation House.

I do understand what you are saying, but have to agree too much of any one color in a place is too overwheming, least for me. I prefer to see what hues and color combinations work and just hint at what the color scheme is. In fact I usually use several colors for a more balanced look. In fact I am sure some people would walk into my rooms and say they were red, while others may say white.... their is something to be said for the eye of the beholder. Beside I know I am my own worse critic... I see every slight imperfection.

I one complaint for me has always been the mixed tones of the colors... The blues as well as the cedar items are the things that have always bugged me the most. Well plus the lack of high end looking furnitire that is green ( I am a warden after all) .I recently redid my own house, (after doing our two person guild hall and hubbys manor house) and it is frustrating that the blue mahogany items did not really go with my ornate Sathirian rug. They look good with the Beloved rugs but the white border on the wood bugged me and did not go with the pale yellow of the carpet and tapestries. It I what always makes decorating a challenge, getting the room to work. Those cedar chairs are another example being orangeish red and not going with the horned rugs well... or the pretty Sathirian ornamental rug...

My other peeve color wise was getting anything to really go with that floor in our hall... it is too blue for the teal items and too green for the blue ones... and the patterns! I really wish we could decide the colors in there...

But part of the challenge is getting it to work and there are scads of talented people here thats for sure... Thank goodness we have Domino. Our diverse house items are the best anywhere!! Every item filled with so much potential.

Did you SEE those marble items! *drools* I wonder how many marble tiles it would take to cover guild hall floors....?

G

I'd just like to see more main items in purple - couches, chairs, benches, large rugs, and the like. We have a lot of purple accessories, we do not have much in the way of actual furniture.Personally, I like to pair the mahogany furniture with the azure rug of the forsaken. Actually, there's a good example of what I'm talking about. Imagine those ornate mahogny dining chairs, sitting around the mahogany dining table, on the light blue rug, with perhaps a few of the matching tapestries. There's a clear light blue theme runing through the room, but it's broken up by the wood tones of the chairs and table, the wood of the walls and cabinets in the room, the stone fireplace and vases (although, with light blue flowers in them) the white of the plates and candle sticks (which compliments the trim of the mahogany), and so on. That's what I think of, when I think of a room with a color theme. Enough so that most people would realize that the room was done with a color in mind, but not enough to be too overwhelming (at least, to me), and with accessories and other accents that don't clash with the main color. You have a good example in your own hall of what I mean. Your bar room is what I'd personally consider an area with a blueish theme to it. The rugs, chairs, table trim, benches, and couches - as well as some of the accessories around, like the candles. Or, your bedroom in red.. the bed, the rug, the tapestries, the chairs. Enough to give the idea, but not too much.. Right now, this can't really be done with purple. Yes, you can sometimes still use some of the accessories to get the idea across, although it may not always work out depending on what else you use, of course. However, those of us who want to do the main objects with purple are out of luck.I realize there are lots of colors and only so many items that can get added, but it's just something I'd personally like to see. Again, you will never catch me objecting to any new house items, regardless of what they actually are. :p
