So I`m going to roll a new toon on my first PvP server. I`ve been inactive for a year, so I need help. As far as seeing that Venekor is merging, this should be interesting and adding more people to a server never hurts.(if the new upgraded system handles it well). My question is, wich top 2 classes you recomend and why ? I`m gearing towards a Mage or Scout, my last one was a Necro anyways i`m all ears to sugestions, advice for a noob PvP. Thanks !

The search function is your friend.

Brigand, warlock, coercer if you prefer mages or scouts.

Instead of slider if there was just one simple button that said 'Alternate Advancement'.

I push that and it fills up my AA with points first and then force back to xp once im at my level limit of AA. For pvp this would mean i spend alot of time to begin with in tier 2 until ive worked up my fill of aa and then my leveling from there would be staggered with the correct amount of aa at each level. So it gives the effect of 100% conversion only as its needed, but doesnt allow the full permanent level locking that for some reason someone somewhere thinks is a bad idea.

?

Since EQ2 is gear-based game, it will be true for most classes. Guardian has lots of defense but equally weak without right gear choices. But of course, non-bard scouts are preferable if you are looking for more "easymode". Or crusaders.

In my opinion start with one of these... they do have positional attacks, but their DPS is not DEPENDENT on it... it just gets higher if you do them right... lots of DPS, lots of control effects... snares, knockdowns... up in your face kinda player... and until you get good at PVP, you are gonna find yourself not reacting to PVP fights as fast as you want, and they are gonna be up in youur face anyways... might as well hve the tools for em..

....

Mages:

Enchanters... zero defenses.... you are gonna rely EXCLUSIVELY on control effects... which means you rely more on spell / gear / skill then other mages... if your spells suck they resist more and you wont land a control effect and you essentially a wet paper bag full of updates for people...

Sorcerers... most defenses, like mentioned before... ubar DPS... not much thought required to them... root and nuke, pop manashield if root breaks and hope for the best... best for beginner PVP'r as far as mage goes

Summoner... its been said before... requires lots more skill to finese and to do lots of damage... one of the most gimped classes in PVP... powerfull only if you are very good at them and have good gear... neiwther of which you will have starting out save this class for later

Tanks:

SK / Pally... ez mode, bang your head on the keyboard and win fights with SK... bang your head against the keyboard and stay alive forever with pally... enuf said.. for newbs of pvp for sure... moreso with SK.. because you kill everything fast and are hard to kill.. Pally is probably more powerfull in PVP in that they are harder to kill and can also do substantial damage, but requires more skill / gear / spells to be better at... go with SK for tank

Warriars... "pure tanks"... meatshields... guardians have best "reactive pvp taunt (force target)"... which is why people love guardians for PVP tanks....

Bruisers/monks.... imho, the most fun pvp tanks out there... lots of fun to play, but their "reactive" pvp taunt is junk and forcing multiple pvp targets and keeping them on you is hard and takes work and skill and gear... not the best to start off with in the PVP world.. though very powerfull once you get that gear / spells / skill

Healers:

Clerics... very powerful PVP healers because of steadfast and since damage is reduced in PVP, the reactives can keep most people alive quite well... great group buffs make for great pvp healers... though solo, templar has zero ways of keeping someone from running from them... inquisy has the root / mez... but that breaks almost instantly with damage, so kinda worthless in PVP... downfall = cast times... long cast times = lots of inturrupts in pvp... need gear and lots of aa to counter this.. probably not the best to start in pvp with...

shaman.... similar in pvp to clerics.. with the long cast times, for the amature, its easy to get [Removed for Content] pwned if your not quick on the trigger before the fight starts...

Druids... wardens are arguably the most overpowered class in low tier PVP..... their natural powerpool is high and with superfast casting heals, hard to kill because it just takes a second to get a heal off... roots and decent dps... i would reccomend a druid for your first PVP healer...

My opinions based off of 100's of alts, have never played on a PVE server so only pvp experience is what I have

I could understand your point if nobody had asked that question in a while. But we get several posts a month about which class is better/best in PvP, and 5 minutes with the search function would probably have told him everything he needed to know to make an informed deceision on if he should start out with a mage or a scout on PvP.

For the same reason that we don't need ten different threads on mentoring and level locking, it would probably be better if people posted questions regarding classes in the threads that already exist for that topic instead of starting new ones.
