So I am out soloing, and after a close fight where I emerged victorious, this noob jumps me. Me being in the deep orange with most of my abilities down decide to book it but there is just one problem. I cant get any distance on this son of a gun.

After a few snares and stuns and failed attemps at killing me I decide to turn on Fraps, so here is the result. At first I thought it was PotC (Pact of the Cheetah) cast before he engaged (bug IMO but whater). After further review that is not the case. He is clearly not a Sarnak, or Kerra, so scratch that idea.

So what super uber ability is this that I am up against, and where do I get one =)

Notes:

I started Fraps aprox 30 seconds after he engaged (started over by the docks) and from time of fraps until death is 50 seconds. So the length of time he was engaged with this ability was aprox 1:20 min

I run at almost 90%

I see only the standard pathfinding and fay fall on his buff bar

At the end he hits me with cheapshot from about 15m away

He seems to stay the same distance away when im running at 17% and even after the snare wears off and I am moving at almost 90%

He is not even using sprint

I probably am missing something obvious here but I thought I would ask.

Scrub Killque gets owned by a nooblet

Yes, I ran. Yes, I got killed.Yes you can resist saying something dumb like haha you got killed.

If you believe that someone is using a hack in game, please petition and let the GM's handle it. Thank you!

I would guess the issues is with LAG in KP.

I have notice this alot since the update.

Sometimes i will run into the pvp writ guy in KP and there will be 100 Q's standing there no on of them attacks me. Seems very odd after about a min they all attack and iam dead. Durning this time if i try and cast a get spell lag of 10-20 sec.

Also seen the revise writ giver will have 100 F's standing there and all the out of know where 4 or 5 Q's are standing in the middle.

Think it is just the lag in updating locs of players. Same happens when you attacking someone in KP and keep getting player out of range and you are standing on top of them. Just depends on how behind the server is in updating the player locs. Its no the same for all. Just becaaues you think your running doesnt mean the server knows it. On his screen you might not have even been moving. All the more resaons SOE needs to do the server upgrade.

Hope tha helps.

Server lag allows players to run fast in combat? I am not understanding how your example can apply to my situation.

I know what you speak of in reference the writ giver as I have many times jumped down from the top of the spires into the writ giver room ran up and turned in and got a new quest most times before people even realize I am there. Whether I can evac in time is 50/50.

Anyway, rules of engagement state that once a player has entered combat their run speed buffs are reduced to 0. The few exceptions being Bards that (with specific gear) can run upwards of 20% in combat, Pact of the Cheetah cast before entering combat sometimes keeps you running faster, and sprint.

I know of nothing else that can contribute of someone being able to keep up with someone running 87% while they constantly beat on them for a minute and a half.

Other thoughts?

What iam saying is that on his screen and to the server you never moved. Just because you are moving on your screen doesn't mean the server know this has happened.

Do you have the logs from this fight? I would almost guess you would also see auto attacks hitting you. witch means the server never registered you moving.

If this was any zone other then KP i would also think hacking but, i think this is just a lag issue.

If you don't move on their screen then they stay where ever you "are".

There is no case of lag where the person follows you flawlessly like that and at that speed. Sorry it just doesn't happen.

Lag either makes the person look like they are jumping all over as the server adjust for their location, or like i posted above, you don't actually look like you are moving at all on the other persons screen.

I prefer not to elaborate on the "hack" aspect of this and concentrate on any legit ways this person could have moved at this speed. If we do in-fact decide that there is no possible explination other than it being a "hack" I will follow the advise of the mod above and report it to the proper people (GMs). At that point this thread can be locked (like it previously was) and we can continue on with our lives. I lobbied to get this thread unlocked so we could discuss the legit in game tactics that may have been used. To honor that I would appreciate if we could focus there. Failing that, we can lock the thread.

Thanks all.

Killque

Delete the video out of the original post and simply ask "Is there anyway in game for someone once in combat to move at 90% runspeed during PVP?"

Otherwise this thread WILL be locked again, nothing in that video looks legit or laggy /shrug
