its a hack, and since your a freep and are encounting it , it looks like its being used by both sides now. i first seen it last week in KP.

last week in kp vekk was running it, litteraly anyone that entered combat with him would LD as soon as they did, and he would kill them before they were kicked from the game.

at first i thought it was maby people in the same area loosing their connection but it wasent . it was anyone that entered a fight with him reguardless of whare you were. a few frappsed it and screenshotted it happening and petitioned but since soe has to litteraly see you cheating nothing will happen.

Some people are idiots on these forums. With that out of the way, I've encountered this same bug numerous times (as seen by my posts in the linked thread). I'm wondering if i had to do with some weird combat bug like the famous Xebnok crashing that took place awhile ago.

wouldnt call it a bug, if it is certain people exploit it . for more then 10 mins we watched every player that attacked the guy in kp go ld as soon as they started attacking him. even the rangers that were at ranged, first bow shot that hit him boom ld.

I ran around ROK zones for about 2 hours yesterday pvping, I would attack/kill ppl and crash out of no where. I believe I crashed 5-6 times. Some of these people were just random green/blue cons, im sure some people actually buy into all that "Tault hacks" bs but give me a break. Plenty of people have experienced this, i've /bugged it numerous times and even petitioned with crash logs..it's the least you could do.

if you read the OP's post you will see he's not crashing randomly out of nowhare . only when he attacks / kills a player . the SAME player.

key word being same player....

I don't see him mentioning killing the same player over and over and crashing..

Edit : Ok now I see the post in this thread../smackforehead

I do not believe people are exploiting it, i believe its a strange bug. I would like to make clear that i get thrown back to desktop when i KILL someone. Not when i attack someone. So it doesnt make so much sense to use it to avoid dying unless you want to annoy the people. The reason why i said its happening on the same player is because ive crashed now twice when attacking the same enchanter. We can speculate all day if its a known exploit, a strange bug or whatever. What we need now is some serious dev power to get rid of this crashes.

I cant say I have had very many issues with going LD during a fight. Maybe once or twice it happend to me but I have crappy internet so I always assumed it was just my connection. But I am wondering even if it was a hack how on earth does an exsploit like that get access to your computer to shut a program down? I am not very computer smart so to speak so this all just confuses the heck out of me.

That is a totally different thing.

During those fights something happens that the game cannot handle. The game shuts down immeaditly back to desktop without an error message. It really irks me when someone has to cheat to win in PvP. Oh well I guess there is nothing we can really do about it since SoE abviously doesnt care to fix the issues. IMO they should make it like WoW where they are allowed to access your CPU to see if you are running a third party program.

One tank will get charmed several times during the fight. Now you have tank1 tank him and tank2 taking over soon before the charm hits (the charm is timeable so whenever the charm comes tank2 takes quickly over the aggro). Now have tank2 gives tank 1 his avoidance buff and tank2 gets charmed. Now tank2 hits tank1 who has his own avoidance buff and he starts avoiding his own hits. Everyone in the raid got thrown back to desktop whenever this happend. Atleast this was, what ive been told the reason for all these crashes, makes sense tho.

SoE is not a democracy. Not sure what the problem is with a company wanting to keep thier communications forums a clean and respectful place. You want to get into a guild vs guild forum battle, take it to EQ2flames.

Now as far as this bug, i do think it is just that, a bug. It seems to only happen in Kunark zones, particularly around KP docks. Happens to both me and my wife several times. It only happens when somebody dies. Doesnt always happen to both of us though, and not always on the same player. Its very unpredictable. Last week we got into a 3 vs 3 where we killed the first guy just fine, killed the second guy, and both me and my wife crashed right to Desktop at the same time. Luckly our 3rd could beat thier 3rd solo so it wasnt to big a deal, but we have lost fights because of it.

Comparing a fortune 500 company policies in principle with an online game forum is like comparing apples and oranges. Those principles in a normal business atmosphere can and do apply for the most part. However most business know thier customers by first names, (i know i do) and thier customers tend to return the respect they are given. However in an online forum atmosphere, you have hundreds if not thousands of completely anonymous posters thats soul purpose is to start some form of crusade against "the man", i.e. SoE and thier employees for whatever reason. Leaving gaming companies with little choice other then to treat these posts like children. Sucks when calm and like minded adults get caught up in it, but it happens.

With the exception of a single dev, SoE does an exceptionally good job with thier customers, even the kids, particularly when you compare them to other online gaming companies.

Sorry to sidetrack the thread even more, just wanted to get my 2cp in.

Back to trying to fix this rather annoying bug

Ill check my logs for that tonight Pail. Although i dont think it could be any one proc or spell because my wife has gone link dead on a target where i havent, and vice versa, and then we have both gotten sent to desktop at the same time for the same kill. The only thing thats been consistent so far is that it only happens in kunark (just around dregs for us). That might just be thats because the majority of our fights happen there though.

Ill hit some pvp tonight if i can find any and see if i can fraps it happening.
