Lately about a day ago I've been experiencing difficulty starting up Everquest 2. I use Station Launcher and what happens is when I click Launch Game, all that shows up is the Everquest 2 window frame and nothing else. All I see is my desktop with now a Everquest 2 window frame and when i have my mouse IN it, it changes to the Everquest 2's mouse pointer but does not show anything inside (like log in or loading screens) I haven't been able to play since this problem.

What Ive tried so far is checked that all my .exe were being ran as Administrator. I've checked all my Windows Updates and my video drivers are up to date. My brother suggests just to reinstall EQ2, but I'd like to make that my last choice in case it's something that can be fixed without reinstallation

Does anyone know or suggest a solution to this?

Your problem occured when a patch went through. I'm not sure if the new GPU shadows will be enabled on the character screen because I'm too afraid to use them myself due to all the crashing people having been experiencing. What you should do while you wait for a TSR to answer, is to open up your options BEFORE you hit "play." Then when you're in, disable all of your shadows if they are on, and try again. Let me know if that works. I'm sure the TSR's know about any other bugs that have occured because of this new patch. This one, however, is the most common from what I've seen thus far.

Right. Your EQ2's current graphics settings may be set in a way that no longer operates well after the patch. I'd suggest a UI/settings wipe to see if EQ2 will run under it's default settings.

--

You may want to delete the following files and folders:cache foldereq2_recent.inieq2_default.iniEverQuest2.exee q2.iniAs well as the character specific files, these will appear as such:Servername_CharacterName_EQ2_uisettings.iniSt ationname_characters.iniTo do this, please follow these directions:1. First look for your EverQuest II directory. You can find the default directory in: C:Program FilesSonyEverQuest II2. Click on MY COMPUTER and then proceed into local disk C:3. Navigate your way to the default directory, or your chosen installation directory.4. Next look for any files explained above and delete them. 5. Afterwards, please start EverQuest II to have these files re-downloaded by the patcher.

--
