View Full Version : Error 41780 from China

I'm in China and I have the 41780 error.

I bought a copy of EQ2 All-in-One pack to play EQ2 with a buddy of mine. It got all downloaded and ready to go and I made a character. But when trying to actually log into a server I get the dreaded 41780 error.

That, I've seen, has happened to a lot of people trying to play from China and I can understand that. Something to do with blocked ports and banned IPs. But then, just out of curiousity, I logged in using a buddy of mine who plays from Australia's account and I can log in fine. Absolutely no problem whatsoever.

So the only thing I can think of is that SOE has put bans on connections from account created in China? Is that the case?

Velvantis

I remember seeing a post that SOE doesn't block IP addresses.. Perhaps sending a PM to the TSR-DanielH might help

Are you using a VPN? Our system will not let VPN connections through because of the sheer amount of spam and fraud we receive from those sources. We do not block areas/countries but VPNs are restricted.

Are you using a VPN as already mentioned? If you are, then you will have to find another way to connect

You do have some form of hardware router in between your computer and the internet. You machines ip address is in the 192 series which is not broadcast on the internet. This router can be the cause of your issue, do you have access to it? If so can you post some information about it please

This is crazy .... I am having the same problem also and I also live in China and am using Vista SP1. I am plugged directly into my DSL. I have spoken with SOE support and they told me to contact Microsoft ... I think it's worth mentioning that I currently have Vanguard, Star Wars Galaxies, and The Matrix installed and running fine on my computer. So what's the problem with EQ2? Someone at sony shouyld be able to do something about the "Error 41780" problem I would think. Please help ASAP. My free 30 days won't be worth anything if this problem isn't resolved soon.

A VPN wont be caused by your modem or your operating system. That is all handled by your ISP, assuming you aren't using your own VPN through their connection. Connecting through a VPN will almost always cause that error and the only solution I'm aware of is to not use one. I'm not sure what that would entail, or if it's even possible in your current situation, but it's all I can suggest.

Actually,I got the same problem here.

My friend just sent a invite to play EQ2 w/ him.And when I try to login the game, get the error 41780.And I called my friend and ask him to try to login into the game,he got he same message. He can login into the game w/ his account without any trouble.

So,the only difference between us is his account was created around 2005,and I just get subscription today. It's not about the network or pc settings or what ever.Obviously, those account created after (2007?2008?I dont know) cant login into the game in China.

BTW,one of my friend just arrived China and work here,he find the account he created in England which has a lvl 80 mystic in it was also got the error 41780 message here. So,it's just proves my opinion.WE ARE BANED IN CHINA.

Greetings,

Like stated before by TSR Dan H we do not ban IP's or countries. We have customers who are logged in from all over the world, China included. If you are receiving this error we have found it to be a VPN issue, also previously stated by Dan H.

I am stationed in China too and downloaded the TSO all-in-one pack a week ago. When I tried to logged on the game, I got this error too. I have called up the ISP provider and they HAVE confirmed that they are NOT using any VPN. Therefore, it should not be a connection problem.

I tried logging on again today and to my suprise, I was able to logged on and lvled a char to 7 with no problems at all!!!!!! I tried logging on again a few hours later and I got this error again!!!!!!!. This again proves that it not a connection problem. I had played Vanguard and POTBS with no problem at all.

I have attached my tracet report below.

Windows IP Configuration Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : calvin Primary
Source from Chinese fun site,

Accounts registered in American server after September 2007 cannot log in from China.

This is discrimination. After the first 14-day trail, you charge a monthly fee. What harm will be brought to SOE?

Please clarify.

Update:

It seems most IPs from China are blocked, but some are not.

A Chinese player can finally play after changed IP more than 10 times.

I'm not that serious about a game to change my ISP provider.

Most, if not all blakclisting of IP's is done at the top level, not at a specific level - just a thought

I just downloaded a trial version of EQ2 - and i have been having the same problems as everyone else in this forum. I used to play EQ for 2 yrs then i switched to DAOC and WOW - i just wanted to try this out -- but this error popping up makes it all so much more hassle - i'm afraid this will continue to happen if something is not done - the end result will be people who want to try and play this game (let alone those who paid for it) wont be able to and will be pushed to play other games which dont have this problem (WOW). I'm sorry to say this whole issue is just so irritating that I'm just abt ready to delete this whole installation and give up. Please, for the last time - give some advice or direct instructions how this error can be resolved. P.S i am not running on a VPN. Thank you.

Is there any reason as to why SOE Customer Service hasn't given us an answer yet?

It's quite obvious this is not a VPN issue.

I've sent in several petitions about this which have all either been ignored or written off as something that was 'my fault'.

Poor effort SOE.

More specifically, accounts created in and after late 2007 cannot log in to the servers and will receive the "41780 Error". Many fun sites from China have confirmed this and the problem has been reported to SOE. So far, after the issue occured almost 2 years, SOE hasn't effectively answered the questions, but insists that it was the players' firewall or ISP's problems. Most players found this answer unacceptable, because if it is firewall or ISP issue, accounts created before 2007 will not be able to logged in either."
