How does one complete splitpaw at a level > 50?

So my alt is 80 and never did splitpaw, but I want to gain the trust of the gnolls so that i can have the return to splitpaw item.But... at 80 everything is trivialized, and mentoring won't work either.Any ideas?  Am I out of luck?

Gray mobs should still drop quest items.   They did this quite a few GU's ago.

Mentoring does work, or it did a few days ago at least.

I tried the arena both mentored and unmentored and got the "<char> has trivialized the encounter and cannot gain any rewards" or words to that effect.  I guess I'll try some of the group zones instead.  I just want the shard, I don't care about the rewards <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

I read somewhere that they were planning on changing the mentoring system. With the new system, you can mentor an area OR a person. So you will be able to do splitpaw by yourself and mentor down to 50 all by yourself. I don't have a link, don't know who said it (I think fan fair), or know when it will happen. Hopefully a dev can chime in.

You can do it at 80, I did. No mentoring, no nothing <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> What you cannot do is finish the questline (I need to find out what is happening to the Splitpaw gnolls!), as it is STILL BUGGED <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />SOE admit that this, and also admit that they have no idea how to fix it. Laughable really, yet somehow not unexpected.
