View Full Version : Since you can't fix the Eye of Hoshkar...

...how about changing the proc to something remotely useful?

For anyone not up to speed on this item, it procs an AE deaggro on a successful healing spell. The problem(s) currently are:

- The 'deaggro' also aggros any non-engaged mob in the proc radius. This will wipe a raid or group, and makes equipping the item for stats alone impossible.

- Healers do not need deaggros in RoK. No encounters exist that would require a healer to work on getting their hate down.

- Any other class (e.g. mages) using the item cannot proc it, since they do not have heals.

The item is currently so broken that removing the effect would actually improve it, since it would become a mediocre stat/resist item, rather than a raid wiping accident waiting to happen.

But since it drops in VP, off the same mob that drops awesome melee and caster items (bandolier and robe), would it really hurt to give it a decent proc for healers? Either the vanillia +20% to next heal on ankexfen/claymore, or manawell, or displacement, or overloaded heal would all be decent candidates.

If you can spend the time to add ranged crits to the ring from there, is looking at this item really that unreasonable a request?

It has always been a terrible item, and, at least before we got the RE2 blue shiny collection, there wasn't really much for T8 priest earrings. Too bad they missed this item when they revamped VP loot.

I would think the item would be fairly good, IF they turned the Proc into a Green AoE instead of a Blue one. IMO Weopon Procs should never be a Blue AoE.

Conj stoneskin has an AoE deaggro component....and yes it used to aggro non aggro mobs when you cast it.....it was fixed to only effect mobs you were engaged with....So i would think it is quite feasible to have this item fixed for the same reasons.....

lol....the golems in ToK love that item atm

If you do find effects that are still aggoring out of combat npcs, be sure to let me know. The reason this effect is not a green AE is because you aren't targetting an npc with it. You're healing a player, so the only way to actually target npcs with the effect is to AE it and hit whatever is around you.I've fixed this item internally. With luck, the change will make it into GU48.Edit: Corrected the spelling of 'green'...

That's the itemisation problem in a nutshell.

Like Charlie Brown running up to kick the ball out of Lucy's hand, I'll believe Fyreflyte has fixed this item in the next LU, but healer earrings and their effects really need looking at. Of all the archetypes healers have by far the worst gear progression - you inspect a raid guild templar and you're likely to see such gems as the Arm of Erolissi, full Nem-Ankh set, Crimson Robe of Alendine, and a load of legendary manawell/overloaded heal items. This isn't because they don't have access to end-game drops, but because even some T7 legendary is, in many situations, better than T8 fabled.

While on the subject of area effect procs, does anyone know if the Mutagenic Burst gear from Runnyeye: The Gathering (i.e. Grunblig's Blackened Alloy Belt) affects all mobs or just those that have been engaged?

there are a lot of stacking issues with mutagenic burst and "when dmged deal dmg back" procs. Pretty much any tier5 (detonation, fire pillar etc) proc will prevent mutagenic burst from proccing at all. ill test out the belt tomorrow

I'm still waiting for a "fix" to this item. As it stands, I have a VP earring that is useless for a healer. Any more info on this?
