I played EQ2 around the time it first came out but wasn't happy with the game.I came back for the promotion and decided to reactivate my account, now I am wondering if that was a good idea.I enjoyed EQ1 with a passion and it will always have a high place in my heart. Due to the scarce population there now I decided to stay away from there. I was hopeing EQ2 would have more people.Don't get me wrong, soloing sometimes is great but not all the time. In EQ2 a group is needed for the best things the game has to offer..this is one of the major things troubleing me now. After the promotiongroups are hard to come by and tey seem to be getting harder.I have went through several Guilds and they all have the same dire situations. They have high level characters that have no interest in helping the level 40+ members level or do Heratige Quests. I usually end up letting them get gren and even grey before doing them since I have to do them alone or with one or two other people.I do not belive in powerleveling,I work for everything I have.I have done this in every Online game I have ever played. Finding groups once you hit level 50 is even harder now,it seems everyone is self centered and could care less about others.Spells are just crazy in prices.I started finding that out when I was 44 as a Ranger when the lowest Adept 1 CA was 69 gold,I wont even list what the others were.(App 4's were going for 40 gold on Belfallen for a lvl 44 CA)I have managed to buy a full set of Mastercrafted Leather Armor for my now 50 Ranger and along with doing quests have gotten ok geared with jewelery.Do people playing want people to leave EQ2? That is the assumption I get when I see the prices of things. Not everyone has all day, every day to play like some. Most people arent going to stay in a game that they have to spend massive hours playing just to break even, ever wonder why WoW has the massive population vs EQ2? It boils down to Casual players, they dont want to have to be online 24 hours a day just to get ahead or buy a spell or trying to harvest over and over when they could be playing instead.I enjoy EQ2,I really do but due to the people's attitudes and lack of population I may have to cancel and go back to WoW.At least I could advance my gear by only playing a couple hours a day at most AND I could find groups very easily.Lower your prices people and help others that are more unfortunate, you might find more people staying instead of leaving.

Not trying to sound like an "explicative" but if you have tried EQ2 and found it lacking in what makes the game fun for you then maybe you should try a different game. Trying the promotion didn't cost anything so you really didn't loose anything.

As for the attitudes in EQ2 I must say that you will never find a nicer bunch of people in any gaming community bar none.

Sony has pretty much revamped and bent over backwards to make a game that fits most players wants, I left when it became so WoWified I just quit having fun in it. I was a "casual gamer" whatever that is.

Sorry it didn't work out for you.

Roll a character on Butcherblock.

Your experience will vary from server to server, especially in regard to prices. If you are able to get into a guild with active crafters you can usually get mastercrafted items made for the cost of fuel if you provide the rare. There's no need to pay 60 odd gold for a mid-level adept 1 when you can harvest the rare and have a jeweler friend/guildie make the adept 3. As for grouping, it depends on the guild really. Some folks are happy to mentor down, some are focused on whatever tier they're in and won't bother. It may take a little searching to find a place you can call home... perhaps even a different server. All that being said, if you truly don't feel like the game fits your needs then don't feel obligated to stay. It is a game after all and if you're not having fun then it's not doing what it should for you. Happy hunting to you wherever you may go.

befallen is not a large server population wise.

nagafen (pvp)Antonia bayle (Rp)crushbone (normal)

Are the 3 highest population servers in order. Almost every other server is a mid to low populaton server, some of them in dire need of a merge.

My best advice for a new player starting at the end of an expansion cycle is to create a toon on antonia bayle or crushbone. There is alot more groups, pickup raids, players etc on those servers.

I had the same proble you are having when I startes on Mistmore, when they had the free server xfers a little more then a year ago I moved to Unrest, I haven't had trouble since. I found a great guild and we do mentor to help people if someone needs help with a long quest line and people are busy all they have to do is put up a post with a time that says I need to do this and they have more people then they need for the group.

I think you may just need to try a reroll or xfer to a new server.

Find treasured loot drops and put them on the broker. I made an alt a week ago that to play when I couldn't be bothered grouping, it is level 21 now and has 7 plat.

What the low level part of this game does well now (low leveling being up to level 50) is it provides players with enough choice of ways to solo that there really is no need to group. The only level appropriate group content in the game now is heritage quests, whichuntil reciently were simply not worth doing, and dungeon crawls for loot, which would be replaced by quested loot in less than a week for most players.

As for asking high level guildmates to help, don't forget, they play for fun too. I have helped so many people with HQs that I refuse to zone in to the trials for shiny brass shield ever again. I was sick of doing DFC over 2 years ago when everyone else asked for my help to do it, Nek castle makes me want to crawl up and hide somewhere. Why should I spend hours helping anyone run game content that I dispise?

This is the problem with MMOs, if you take too long, you will not get help.

Oh, as to the EQ2 vs WoW, WoW is the Brittney Spears of MMOs. Everyone played it/bought the CD, but a few years from now, no one will admit to ever playing it, just like no one admits to listening to Brittney. It looks good at first glance, has a few good points, but when you really look at WoW, it lacks any kind of depth or character.
