The patcher for splitpaw still hasn't been "turned on" for the new update (server went down over 100min ago) when logging on, patcher "updated" (But is still set to before the game update) and when pressing the big red play button I get after a short wait "Logon Rejected: The client's Version does not match the serve's. Please re-run the patcher" Agee

I'm wondering why my client is all patched up on US servers, but when I run the patcher for EN_EU, it starts downloading the whole internet (estimated time: 95:00:00. That's right, it wants to download stuff for NINETY FIVE HOURS!) W T proverbial F is going on, I wonder. /me stops download and goes to play on US servers while SOE gets their stuff sorted out...again.

Yup, same here on Runnyeye. It's comedic really. You go out of your way to give everyone a month free to get them back into the game, then wait for them to resubscribe and IMMEDIATELY screw all the servers up so they can't play once they've paid.Lucky for me I re-subbed on a monthly basis.

But when you now again start the patcher for EN_EU, it recognizes that the files were messed with and want s to download the original pre-47 files, for which there is no delta patch. Hence the ETA. I am also currently dling from US, let's hope that the usual trick "just run everquest2.exe to bypass the patcher" will get me on.

It's as certain as dawn... a 2 hour update for a patch will be at least 3 times thier first estimation... Can't remember a GU ever running on time on euro servers, 47 chances to practice, maybe 48 is the lucky one?

Rule of thumb.. Never plan to play on patch day One consellation is at least someones remembered to come on and tell us why there's a delay which makes a nice change, even if it does seem a bit lame /chucklesBut given that this is LU47 and it goes live in the US first and then here wouldn't it be more appropriate to say Sony have had 94 chances to get it right. After all the US servers seem to be the live test but we nearly always seem to get the problem...P.S. keep feeding the hamster :p

But since that's only a lvl 6 or so creature it gets eaten along the way and our European patches are now on the bottom of the ocean somewhere near the Hebrides.

I think its a highly technical matter concerning inadequate memory- every time EVERY TIME they do this to us they keep a terribly inadequate memory of doing it. So then do it again. And again. And again. And again. And again. And again. And again. And again. And again. And again. And again. And again. And again. And again. And again. And again. And again. And again. And again. And again. It used to be that US servers were patched on about a Thursday and then EU ones around Tuesday. That was a much better system, even if it meant we couldn't easily move between servers for a few days, because it meant that on patch day the files were available to be downloaded, and many of the little bugs found on US servers over the weekend were sorted the Monday, so EU servers didn't get them.

I actually, somewhere in the back of my mind, had the vague thought that they might not do it to us again, because it would just be too much- like they couldnt even hide their contempt- I really actually hoped that they might not, but--- here we are again. It does NOT feel good.

What I can never understand is how they cant even do the traditional 'faceless corporation' spin doctor routine... where are the cut and paste 'your displeasure is very important to us' mails- the soothing muzak, the smiling robot woman assuring us all will be well? Even the POWER company sends mail that sounds as if they love me dearly and want only the best for me. Whatever happened to SPIN and good old fashioned lying to the customers? Traditional corporate values! Free chocolate biscuits?Memo update 2319: Aliens in a flying saucer disrupted our data transfer with a death ray aimed at a group of small fluffy helpless kittens left in a box by heartless rogues. Obviously ALL our efforts are now being bent to finding homes for the adorable mewing moppets and subsequently Splitpaws update will be delayed 3 weeks while we bottle feed them warm milk. Awwwwwwww look at the kittens jilted customers- not at the Server - just look at the kittens...

In telecommunications we have something called the five nines. That is, we have to provide 99.999% service availability (that's a maximum of around 5 minutes downtime per year) including upgrades or our customers get to sue us for breach of contract.Sony also has a five nines for EQ2:9 hours minimum downtime for a patch9 pages of ranting customers appear on the forum before a dev/GM/community manager replies9 words of explanation are given that tell us nothing9 people post that they're so outraged they're going to cancel their accounts/demand refunds/switch to WoW/explode immediately9 times out of 10, the problem is with SplitpawBut seriously, OK our patches don't go perfectly and we lose half a day for every LU but I think it works well enough to justify my money. I'll gladly sacrifice 10 hours of play today if it means a little more investment goes into EQ2 (i.e not LoN) game content instead.--Uxian Shaali'NesCo-Leader of TruewatchEuropean Roleplay Guild on Splitpaw Server

Either you can treat it like a business and demand a certain level of service or vote with your feet and leave, or you can understand that the staff are human beings and trying their best (at least some of them will be), really its up to you. However emotional outbursts will not motivate in either case to resolve the issues.Add to this we dont work for the support teams and arent onsite doing it, who knows what sort of issues they are facing. We dont have all the facts or symptoms and dont have much evidence upon which to base an analysis and correction.Dont misunderstand it is frustrating to pay for a service and not be given accurate estimates of downtime in a planned manner - however, planning is supposed to be flexible and changes. Are the customer base powerless and frustrated or are we expecting too much? I guess that's a personal decision. You can be sure the company want to keep their customers and make money though.
